The Chorus Picking Sides In Sophocles Oedipus Rex
The Chorus: Picking Sides? In the second choral ode of Sophocles play Oedipus Rex, the chorus
seems to condemn the Theban citizens lack of respect for Delphi s oracles and the Gods. The
chorus thoroughly explains that the Gods themselves set forth the moral laws of the universe, and
nobody should dare to break these rules. The chorus noting that the father of these rules is greater
than Time, and ages not (46) emphasizes the Gods power and virtue. The phrases greater than
Time and ages not mimic repetition, and emphasize that the Gods will remains forever, and that
no one defies the Gods will with impunity. The chorus then discusses a possible punishment for
one s disrespecting Gods. The chorus saying that anyone who dare hold / no immortal power in
awe / Will be caught up in a net of pain (46) clearly stresses the importance of obeying the Gods.
However, in the chorus description of the Gods punishment, the chorus also... Show more content

The chorus advice, From blasphemy stand apart / Else the crackling blast of heaven / Blows on
his head, and on his desperate heart (46) exhibits the chorus lack of approval in the Gods
punishments. The contrast between one blasphemous act and God s crackling blast, likely a
euphemism for death, portrays the interaction between human and God as unjust. The chorus
description of the guilty man s heart as desperate emphasizes God s harsh, merciless nature. As the
chorus begins to doubt the Gods method of dealing with iniquity, the chorus then begins to
question whether or not the Gods are even fit to rule humans. That the chorus ponders, Zeus, if
indeed you are lord of all (47) clearly displays the chorus challenging the Gods authority directly.
Here, the chorus may wonder not only if Zeus rules over all humans, but also what qualifies Zeus
to rule all . Either way, both questioning the Gods existence and doubting the Gods ability to rule

Representation Of Characterism In Picnic At Hanging Rock...
Joan Lindsay, the renowned author of the distinguished Australian novel Picnic at Hanging Rock,
has foreground the representation of Victorian society as repressed and constrained through the
characterisation of various figures throughout the novel. The riveting tale follows the mysterious
disappearance of three girls and a teacher, with only one girl to ever be seen again, during the
Appleyard College s trip to the mystic Hanging Rock on Valentine s Day in 1900. One of the
main focuses in the book is the depiction of the Victorian Society as uptight and controlled, which
has been developed by various characters, including Miss McCraw, Mrs Appleyard and
Mademoiselle. Miss McCraw, the peculiar mathematics teacher, is one of the least likely to go
missing. However this is exactly what occurs and through this uncharacteristic disappearance a
notion is presented that excessive repression results in extreme methods of release. The
characterisation of Mrs Appleyard, combined with that of Miss McCraw, also develops the readers
understanding of Victorian society and how rigid social constraints will eventually breakdown. In
contrast, Mademoiselle, the passionate arts teacher, juxtaposes the previously mentioned characters
by being kind and affectionate towards the girls. The characterisation of these individuals
throughout Picnic at Hanging Rock contributes to the overall portrayal of Victorian society as
uptight and suppressed and progresses the reader s understanding of this

Boundaries Of Freedom Of Speech
Are there boundaries of freedom of speech and expression? If free speech is provocative, should
there be limits? Freedom of Speech means, broadly, that you are welcome to express any opinion
without being punished for having done so. Freedom of the Press respects the right to publish and
distribute factual information and opinion. Again, this can come in many forms; newspapers, TV,
social media, etc. Freedom of Speechis about what you can say; Freedom of the Press is about to
whom you can say it. In both cases, as long as people are not making up lies, it is explicit that the
government may not restrict you. Freedom of speech is the freedom to listen to others also, is
necessary for a democratic government. The Supreme Court of the United Stateshas referred to

Just being an unbiased person and listening to what others say just either agree or disagree, you
do not have to agree with what these people are saying, but just taking it in, critisizing and
educating yourself about what other opinions there are out there is important. I might not
believe in what people are saying but I will defend their right to say. In a truly free and open
society, people have the right to say pretty much whatever they want to say as long as they are
not directly harming others. Free speech is more than just a legal philosophical or political term,
it is a princibled way of life. There s a difference from being skeptical and outright denying a fact.
We see this especially in Europe where sensitivity based censorship attempts to ban deemed hateful
or even just hurtful, and to ban criticisim of

The World Of The Buddha
Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, who lived in northern India from 560 to 480 B.C, founded
Buddhism Buddhism, one of the major religions of the world. The time of the Buddha was one of
social and religious change, marked by the further advance of Aryan civilization into the Ganges
Plain, the development of trade and cities, the breakdown of old tribal structures, and the rise of a
whole spectrum of new religious movements that responded to the demands of the times (Cones
10). These movements were derived from the Brahmanic tradition of Hinduism but were also
reactions against it. Of the new sects, Buddhismwas the most successful and eventually spread
throughout India and most of Asia. Today it is common to divide Buddhism into two main
branches. The Theravada, or Way of the Elders, is the more conservative of the two; it is
dominant in Sri Lanka, Burma, and Thailand (Berry 23). The Mahayana, or Great Vehicle, is more
diverse and liberal; it is found mainly in Taiwan, Korea, and Japan, and among Tibetan peoples,
where it is distinguished by its emphasis on the Buddhist Tantras (Berry 24). In recent times both
branches, as well as Tibetan Buddhism, have gained followers in the West. It is virtually impossible
to tell what the Buddhist population of the world is today; statistics are difficult to obtain because
persons might have Buddhist beliefs and engage in Buddhist rites while maintaining folk or other
religions such as Shinto, Confucian, Taoist, and Hindu (Corless

All web pages should be fully responsive so that they can be viewed on all screen sizes. At a

influenced my thinking to day to day work ever since. The last, best experience that anyone has
anywhere becomes the minimum expectation for the experience they want everywhere Source:
Bridget van Kralingen SVP, IBM Global Business Services What I took from that is, we waste so
much time and effort worrying about keeping up with technology, trends, platforms....., which are
of course important. However it is not realistic to constantly keep up. Although a continuous
focus on user experience is possible and does not always require new technology, heavy
investment or a major innovation. Matt Candy of IBM Interactive said in a presentation The
traditional boundaries are dead; the focus is now on human to human interactions. Where
experience has become the new battle ground. For businesses it is becoming more and more
difficult to find or define USPs to create competitive advantage. Experience is fast becoming the

Using Structured Interview Method For Future Selection
(1)Refer to Appendix and based on the data available, I would recommend that this company should
use the structured interview method for future selection because the method has the highest utility
compare with the other two selection methods. A higher utility indicates an increased validity of the
method used, and this implies that the annual productivity of these selected applicants in average
dollar value would increase thereby increasing the financial position of the company (pg.191).
Structured interviewmethod which is a standardized technique is the process of asking, collecting,
and rating of the interviewees based on the information collected from them (pg.221). All the
respondents are asked the same questions in a predetermined format and the essence of this
interview method is to know and determine the past experiences and the qualities the interviewees
are bringing into the company.
When the numbers of applicants are increased to 200, the utility for structured interview
increased from 95,080 to 96,680. Utility for the Mental Ability decreased from 75,120 to 73,360.
The utility for the work sample decreased from 58,200 to 55,000. The structured interview
showed higher validity in the selection method which implies an increase in the average dollar
value of annual productivity by candidates that were selected for the positions (Pg.191); however,
the utilities for mental ability and work sample decreased thereby showing decrease in average
dollar value and in

Social Process Theory Analysis
There are five theories relating to an individual s propensity to engage in criminal activity. There are
a few of these theories that are farther reaching than individual choice and genetic makeup. These
three theories indicate that people can literally be a product of their environment.
The sociological theory suggests that the majority of people will conform to the community with
which they are living. The family and educational structure can influence and even foretell a person
s inclination towards crime. For example, if a person lives in a community where the schools,
neighborhoods, and other businesses and organizations are thriving economically and socially with
order then the person will do the same. The person will be more likely to act in a way that is
cohesive with the rest of the community. However, if the same organizations for any reason due to
social or economic factors, suffer negative impact and disorder that the same person in that
community will ultimately turn to negative solutions or crime for survival within the community.
The social conflict theories suggest that the conflict between ... Show more content on

theory simply states that criminal activity is a learned behavior (Gaines and Miller, 2014) An
individual grows up in a family and community that frequently engages in crime, then so will the
individual. The control theory holds that although we all have the potential to commit crimes,
most of us are dissuaded from doing so because we care about the opinions of our family and
peers (Gaines and Miller, 2014) Simply put, a broken down community or even a familial support
system that encourages criminal behavior is more likely to produce a

Brushing Your Teeth Research
Brushing your teeth is a daily task that is essential to our daily routine. It will assure you that you
go to sleep and wake up to immaculate teeth. So many tooth infections, diseases and cavities can be
avoided by simply brushing your teeth.
This easy process begins with choosing a toothbrush and toothpaste. There are so many varied
choices of colour and firmness to select from. Also, toothpaste have plenty of delectable flavours to
choose from. Mint, strawberry, bubble gum and so many savoury more. After choosing a toothbrush
and toothpaste, start by gently rinsing your toothbrush with water. You can hear the graceful sound
of water while it flows gracefully through the toothbrush bristles.
Continue this routine by applying toothpaste onto the sanitized toothbrush. The fresh scent of the
toothpaste fills the room as the toothbrush arrives into your mouth. Gently rub the toothbrush along
your teeth as you hear the squeaky sound of your teeth becoming cleansed. Once you have rubbed
the toothbrush along your bottom teeth, you can spit out the toothpaste. Now use the toothbrush to
brush your top teeth and then spit out the toothpaste again. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Taking a Closer Look at a CPU
Although many people are computer nerds; many people do not know what a CPU is; or what it
does. A computer has many parts that make up the hardware, and the software; enabling it to
function correctly. One of the main components that a computer needs to work is a Central
Processing Unit also known as the microprocessor. The central processing unitincludes all the
computers main parts, and is the basic part of the computer. The CPU is responsible for executing
out tasks, and running the software. The software runs on programs that are translated into number
codes made up of 1s and 0s that the central processing unit can understand. Each code that is
executed means a certain operation should take place. A CPU serves for four functions; Fetch,
Decode, Execute, and write back these functions are the four primary ones. Other functions that
follow are the Arithmetic and logic unit, as well as the Memory access.
In the first step of dealing with a CPU the fetch function is up first. The fetch function involves
retrieving information that it needs to run from the program memory, and basically giving it
instructions which is put in by a number of a whole line of them from the memory. Wherever the
memory may be is determined by the (PC) which is also known as the program counter. The PC
stores a number that can keep track of the current place in the program. When the instruction is
fetched the Program Counter is then inputted by the length of the instruction in word terms of the

In Green Days By Shellie Shellie
Examination of Literary Character Shellie in Green Days by The River Shellie Lammy is
presented by Michael Anthony, Green Days by The River, originally published in 1967 as an
adolescent boy aged 15 who lives in Mayaro. Shellie, also referred to as Shell, is caught in the
developmental process as he works through the emotional and biological changes that comes with
transitioning from childhood to adulthood. In the story, this transition is paralleled to the changes
in his environment that he experiences as his family, due to the illness of his father, moves from
Pierre Hill which is described as the bush in the novel to an inland village in Mayaro. During this
period, Shell experiences an array of changes associated with transitioning from a boy to a man. He

In this paper I will attempt to apply to Shell s character some developmental concepts covered in
this class. Framed in Eric Erikson s Psychosocial Stages of Development, I will look at Shellie as
he discovers his self system; and, some of the trajectories and transition points which he
experiences. If we were to apply a theory to understand exactly where Shell was in his
developmental process, Eric Erikson Psychosocial Stages of Development, particularly the fifth
stage of development, Identity vs Role Confusion may be most applicable. This stage focuses on
individuals ages 12 18; and speaks about the individual searching for a sense of self and personal
identity as they explore their value and belief system, (Schaffer, 2006). Similar to what we have
read about Shell s journey; Erikson goes on to explain that the individual becomes independent and
begin thinking about goals, possible career options, relationships and focuses a lot of energy into
fitting into social groups and society on the whole, (Schaffer,

Arizona Recycling Benefits
Recycling Benefits: Proposing A Bottle Bill for Arizona
Recycling has had a large impact in our community over the past few decades. Rather than
throwing all our trash in the garbage can, we, as a community should continue to recycle as much
as possible. Not only does it cut down on litter, it can also add to our growing economy, cut down
on pollution, and save our raw materials. Arizona currently recycles about sixty percent of its
beverage containers, and because only a handful of cities have mandatory recycling programs they
are the perfect candidate to experiment with a new recycling program (Bottle deposit 2). I propose
that the state of Arizona put a bottle bill, similar to the one in Oregon, into action. All eleven states

For example, when a customer purchases a fifty cent can of Dr. Pepper from his/her local 7 11, s
/he would end up paying fifty five cents, which would include a five cent deposit. At any time
after consuming the thirst quenching beverage, the customer may return his/her can to any store
for his/her five cent refund. This definitely provides an incentive to recycle beverage containers.
In fact, in a recent survey I conducted on my plane trip home from Thanksgiving, consumers said
they often feel they are getting back free money for recycling. Either because they think of the
price of the beverage as fifty five cents, or because they wait until they have several bottles or cans
to return making their refund much larger than the original nickel they put down. The consumers
are not the only ones who benefit because the retailers in most states also get reimbursed for the
extra labor involved. This basic form of bottle bill is effective and very useful.
The Oregon bottle bill is also beneficial. Oregon s immensely popular bottle bill has been
effective in getting soft drink and beer cans and bottles off the roadways, and boosting recycling.
Much of the law s success is due to a system that is easily understood by consumers and
manageable for merchants (Bottle deposit 1). However, a few of the other eleven states have tried
to add to the basic bill making them confusing, more time

The Nature Of Rome s Relationship
On the Nature of Rome s Relationship to the Individual and the Collective Livy s history tells in
detail the events that sum up to the life of Rome, from its inception to Augustus rule. Not a modern
historian, his writing is a milieu of transcribed cultural memory, creative narrative and more
legitimate historical writing. While there are undoubtedly moments of falsehood, it is equally true
that Livy captured many authentic historical facts in his work. In addition, this text became
immensely popular after its publishing, and so the vast audience the book enjoyed may have
transformed literary fallacy into accepted truth. What is certainly true is that Livy was writing in

Livy s History portrays in early Rome the superior power of individuals over the collective in
shaping the world, their ability to enact change they themselves desire correlating to their
consideration of the collective s interest. Opposition to such a claim might make the correct
observation that, over time, power appears to dilute, slowly acquired by more and more of the
populus romanus. kings make way for consuls, patricians lose political monopolies to the plebs,
etc. While the number of people with real political power does in fact increase, collective action
is almost never the impetus for any action in Livy s writings. To start at the beginning, it is a
series of kings transform an empty land to a sizeable city state. After much warring, Numa
established treaties and tempered the overly aggressive Roman with religion (The Rise of
Rome 24). Servius Tullius created the census, perhaps the greatest tool of Roman governance
(The Rise of Rome 50). But there was king Tarquinius Superbus. Not only did he fail to

Analysis Of Phil Collins Land Of Confusion
In 1986, a British rock band named Genesis released a song called Land of Confusion. It makes
the listener imagine, and take another look at the world and how it is being run. Despite having
a high tempo and a loud melody, it s not a song someone can generally dance to. The song s pop
rock style gives an upbeat variety of rock music. Pop rock in nature uses only electrical
instruments, which gives the song a synthetic sound. Phil Collins voice has a metallic sound
which suppresses his British accent. The band usually about romance or a personal experience
of someone, but this is a rare political song that questions the wisdom of world leaders at the
time. Phil Collins, lead singer and drummer, called it, A political song about the mess we have
landed in. It also had a very popular music video that won the 1987 Grammy for Best Concept
Music Video. When the song first starts, it sets the tone for the rest of the song. It starts out with
first, the drums, electric guitar, and electric keyboard having a very fast and loud melody. This
makes the listener think that something is about to happen, which allows the band to convey the
message of the song. The first lyrics of the song are, I must ve dreamed a thousand dreams/Been
haunted by a million screams/I can hear the marching feet/They re moving into the street./Now did

Ian Hodder
Another particular contribution of Ian Hodder to the development of archaeological thought can be
considered the development of reflexive archaeology and reflexive methods in archaeological
excavation. The details of what constitutes reflexive excavation methodology are based on
overcoming the gap between theory and practice by incorporating extensive interpretation during
excavation (Hodder 1997, 693). Hodder s viewpoint lies largely on a synthesis of critical
engagement in interpretations and theories while committing to the use of cutting edge methods in
scientific analysis. Emphasis is put on the idea that archaeological assumptions need to be reflexive,
relational or contextual, interactive and multivocal, all of which are factors incorporated into...

Throughout his works that focus on reflexivity, Hodder proposes that in the past decades, there
has been a growing discrepancy between theory and practice in archaeology and that new ideas
and approaches are needed to bridge this gap (Hodder, Karlsson Olsen 2008, 37). His approach
to excavation is therefore a result of trying to move the practical side of archaeology away from
the relatively positivist and objectivist stance that has been prominent in the past years, and
steering it towards the ideals proposed by the post processual movement (Hodder, Karlsson
Olsen 2008, 37). He achieves this not only by critical evaluation of himself and his methods, as
has been suggested by Salzman in his critique of reflexivity, but also by recording the thought
processes in the form of videos, diaries and interviews on site (Salzman 2002, 808). There has
been much discussion whether such approaches have been fruitful and brought any significant
addition to archaeology as a discipline (Hassan 1997, 1021; Yoffee 2003, 862; Chadwick

Abstract
This study examines effects that modern technology/media influence on students and family
dynamics. Most of us do not need the results of a nationwide report to recognize that media have
become an indispensable component and major influence in our everyday lives. A powerful tool,
that contemporary society uses not only to entertain but also to communicate and educate, there is
an ever present availability to media access. However, there is an ongoing debate over whether or
not the power of this influence and its ubiquitous availability yields positive or negative
consequences in different aspects of our lives.

Femininity In Frankenstein Essay
Through the lack of female characters, and the dominance of goal oriented males, Shelley
demonstrates through Frankenstein that femininity, as defined by Michelle Miller, is both not a
necessity, as well as a crucial component in society.
The women in Frankenstein have a lot of femininity, as they are caring and compassionate and fit
Miller s definition, but due to their minor presence and use in the storyline, Shelley illustrates that
she doesn t believe that the world needs more femininity. When reading Frankenstein, one cannot
help but notice that the female characters have little substance compared to the male characters. This
may have been a result of the era in which she wrote: one in which females were treated inferior to
males. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because they are used for nothing more than their looks and seen very little in the plot, Shelley
clearly demonstrates her belief that femininity isn t needed to create a balanced society. On the
other hand, Mary Shelley also highly supports the need for increased femininity in the world,
shown through the inclusion of Henry, the female monster, and even through the absence of
female characters. Miller described femininity as a personality trait, not just a characteristic
confined to females or males. Henry personifies femininity and supports Miller s explanation
that femininity is not just for women. Henry, deeply read books of chivalry and romance. He
composed heroic songs...and was so full of kindness and tenderness (39/40). He is focused on
experiences, like travelling through Europe and learning Oriental languages, while Victor is
focused on chasing his creature. Although Henry comes to a tragic end, his life is much happier
than Victor s because he did not confine his life to fixating exclusively on results. Shelley also
confirms that the world demands increased femininity by adding the possibility of a female
creature. Victor creating her mirrors injecting greater femininity into the world. He created the
original creature by himself and after seeing the damage he caused, agreed to make him a female
partner; After a long pause of reflection, I concluded that the justice due both to him and my fellow

Some of the most common cybersecurity technologies that exist today include: Intrusion detection
systems, Intrusion prevention systems, Encryption, and Firewalls for network protection, as well
as, biometric measures like fingerprint scans for access control. These technologies offer a baseline
of security protection against the most common threats.
Intrusion detection and prevention systems monitor traffic/ logs either on the individual host or on
the network in real time looking for signatures of common attacks or anomalies that will trigger an
alarm either of an attack in motion or an attack that has already occurred.
Firewalls monitor network traffic in real time and either allows or denies certain traffic into or out
of the network based on the type of firewall and the rules they are programmed to follow. Firewalls
are a very important baseline in system infrastructure and design.
Encryption is one of the most important technologies of cybersecurity designed to protect the
confidentiality of data. Encryption uses a complex mathematical formula and a key which
randomizes and creates a coded or encrypted message. Only the party that the message or data is
originally intended for can read in plain text by using the appropriate key to decrypt the data. Some
encryption algorithms such as AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) are very complex

Use Of Pinctuations In A Midsummer Night s Dream By...
We live in a world of plummeting punctuation standards according to Ms.Truss. Many people don t
take punctuation seriously. Many people think it s useless. There are many punctuation mistakes,
no matter where one looks. Eats, Shoots, and Leaves is about how careless many people are with
the use of punctuations and why they are very important to modern day English. She shows how
punctuations were used correctly and incorrectly in older literature pieces. She gives a list of how
to correctly use commas, exclamation points, etc. She also references other punctuation
/grammatical books. Unlike many of Shakespeare s pieces, Eats, Shoots, and Leaves is against the
punctuation Shakespeare used in his writing.
Punctuation can change a sentence drastically. For example We do not come as minding to content
you, our true intent is. All for your delight we are not here. William Shakespeare, A Midsummer
Night s Dream,Act V, scene i. This sentence has many punctuation errors. Shakespeare writes our
true intent is. All for your delight instead of putting a comma he uses a period, this makes the text
dramatic, but punctually incorrect.Since Shakespeare has authority in the literature community, he
was idolized for the punctuation error. Many people like Shakespeare deliberately defied
punctuations and the writing was a success. If you misplace a punctuation ... Show more content on

The Landlady By Toni Cade Bambara
The dictionary definition of setting is the place or type of surroundings where something is
positioned or where an event takes place. But setting is much more. Setting, also, affects the plot by
setting the mood and revealing information about characters. In the story The Landlady by Roald
Dahl and Geraldine Moore the Poet by Toni Cade Bambara, the setting is very important to the plot
and without the settings these stories would be impossible.
In The Landlady the setting affects the story by setting a mood and giving the plot a sense of
mystery. In the story there is a guest book with two names. Billy, the main character, feels like he
recognizes the names in the book. The landlady gives Billy some tea. The landlady talks about
one of the people who stayed and how much he loved to drink tea. Billy then says I suppose he

the struggles she is facing from living in a poorer neighborhood. If Geraldine was living in a rich

tragedy that begins in 1947 in the French quarters of New Orleans after the tragic hero, Blanche
Dubois, is forced to move from her family home of Belle Reve in Laurel, Mississippi due to
poverty. Blanche suffers from a form of psychosis that makes it difficult for her to deal with

As a consequence, Stanley drunkenly throws the radio out his window. The event is exacerbated
when Stella attempts to end poker night; Stanley in his drunken rage, strikes Stella (scene 4).
Blanche and Stella decide to sleep over at the neighbor Eunice s house for the night, but Stella
soon returns to Stanley as he goes to her in tearful remorse. This appalls Blanche as she would
not believe in going back to someone who beat her. Stella is a shy character who is easily
silenced by Stanley and she believes it is normal for the husband to beat his wife because he will
realize what he has done and things will go back to normal quickly, thus she was easily was able
to go back to Stanley. Some time later Blanche and Stella hear Eunice and her husband, Steve
getting into a fight, and Steve beats his wife as well. Blanche begins to understand why Stella
would believe Stanley s behavior is normal. (Scene 5). Seeing this exemplifies the character s
belief in violence being a norm despite it having damaging effects in the relationship. Blanche is
waiting and preparing to spend time with Stanley s friend, Mitch that she has grown a fancy to.
Moments point before Mitch arrives, A young Paperboy arrives to deliver newspaper. Blanches
holds him up by flirting with him; offering him a drink. She soon lets him go saying, I ve got to

Racial Profiling Is A Problem
Racial profiling has been an issue in society for as long as America had a criminal justice
system. Racial profiling is a problem because it refers discriminatory practice bye law
enforcement officials of targeting individuals for suspicion of crime based on the individual s
race, ethnicity, religion or national origin. In 1868, the fourteenth amendment was ratified which
states, No state. Shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws,
would have made racial profiling illegal had it been enforced by the courts. Many years passed
and individuals are still being racially profiled. After the 2001 terrorist attack, George W. Bush
signed an executive order banning the use of race, color, and ethnicity to profile suspects in 70
different federal agencies. The nature of this social problem is still very serious, so why is racial
profiling still a problem in America today? 81% of American that participated in the national poll
surveying the view of racial profiling that was set up in 1999 disagreed with racial profiling
(Gross 1413). Many people including our former president George Bush and current president
Barack Obamahave shined a light onto the subject of racial profiling and its negative outcomes.
Citizens, law enforcement and even the individuals that are causing this issue know that racial
profiling is wrong, but it continues to be a major issue that is relevant in the United States.

The Scheduling Of Project Management
Hypothesis: The scheduling in project management is the discipline for stating how to complete a
project within a certain timeframe, usually with defined stage, and with designated resources. The
project schedule reflects all of the work associated with delivering the project on time. It shows
how the work will progress over a period of time and takes into account factors such as limited
resources and estimating uncertainty. Without a full and complete schedule, the project manager
will be unable to communicate the complete effort, in terms of cost and resources, necessary to
deliver the project. Scheduling: Scheduling in simple words would be defined as tabulating
different tasks in a project in a proper sequence from start to end of the... Show more content on

Precedence: An activity must be preceded by another activity, i.e. the activity cannot start until
a predecessor activity has been completed (e.g. a hole must be excavated before concrete is

should be performed immediately after another activity (e.g. concrete must be immediately
consolidated after it is poured, and it must be immediately finished after it is consolidated).
Thus, an activity may have: No predecessor or successor. Only a predecessor. Only a successor.
Both a predecessor and a successor. Event: Event is the start or end state of an activity. It doesn t

Ad Analysis Of Gillette Safety Razors
Gillette Safety Razors is a company that was founded in 1901 and introduced the world s first
disposable safety razor in 1903 as a replacement for straight razors and fixed blade safety razors that
dominated the market at the time. To attract men to their product, the company created
advertisements that they thought would appeal to average American male. One of the
advertisements that Gillette is most memorable for is of a baby shavingitself with one of their
disposable razors, which is an effective ad that the company has produced because it s easy to
understand, is straight forward, and it s visually hard to ignore.
This ad is by far one of the easiest to comprehend. The illustration shows the audience two things,
that their razors can give them soft skin, and that their product is safe to use. The main focus of
the ad is of an infant shaving itself, which not only creates a literal representation of the phrase
baby soft skin , but makes a use of irony. This is due to the fact that this baby doesn t need to
shave since it already has soft skin. The Viewer can draw a connection between the phrase and the
picture and could most likely conclude that if they use Gillette s safety razor, they too can have soft
skin and have a bit of a chuckle since the picture created humor through irony. The ad also tells the
audience that their razor is safe by making an infant use it. Baby s are care free being by nature
and will most likely hurt themselves very often. By making an infant

Giovanni Vaccarello, a retired machinist form Brooklyn, New York, never took the safety of his
family for granted. He often drove Maria, 18, and
Concetta, 17, to their part time jobs. John, his fourteen year old son, was to wear a beeper at all
times so that he would never be out of reach. Giovanni routinely walked Cathy, his wife of twenty
five years, one block to her job at the beauty salon. But with all the precautions Giovanni took,
nothing could stop him from Abraham Meyers, a 25 year old janitor from Brooklyn. At about

Between the years of 1982 and 1992, the number of fatalities due to alcohol related accidents
dropped 30 percent from 25,000 to
17,000. These numbers are the direct result of hard work by the American people to put an end to
drunk driving. Although it seems that much is being done to keep drunk drivers off the road, it
seems that there is little being done to keep repeat offenders off the road. Although there are no
nation wide studies available on repeat offenders, individual states keep their own records.
In Ohio, for instance, 32 percent of drunk drivers are repeat offenders, and they are responsible for
55 percent of all drunk driving convictions. There have been a variety of ideas on how to keep
these repeat offenders of the road, ranging from a specialized license plate (used in Ohio) to
mandatory jail sentences. On average, police estimate that for every 2,000 people who drive
drunk, one is convicted of a DUI. Each state has its own individual way with coping with drunk
drivers and repeat offenders, but the facts don t lie. Studies show that every 30 minutes, a person
is killed in the United States by a drunk driver, this is the most important reason to keep drunks off
the streets. Drunk driving is stopped the same way it is started, with individual decisions.

Babbitt s Deformed Conscience
Babbitt, by Sinclair Lewis, demonstrates a sound heart kept beneath a deformed conscience.
Babbitt, the main character, decides to follow his sound heart, but soon realizes he cannot overcome
the corrupt principles of his middle class culture. The bourgeois conscience influences Babbitt to
value success and a superior reputation, but Babbitts sound heart begins to refuse conformity
through rebellion. He temporarily abandons this deformed conscience, but he cannot change his
lifestyle completely. Babbitt s tendency to follow the deformed conscience emphasizes his
conformity and desperation to belong. Babbitt s sound heart is faint underneath his compliance
because his identity lies within this system of corrupt morals. Babbitt cares about his good
reputation within the Zenith community. He had the satisfaction of possessing the reputation of a
successful real estate agent. Babbitt s position gave him integrity and status which he believed he
deserved. His reputation was significant because it became his identity and a source of belonging.

Extremely low and high temperatures can slow down the development of societies and
civilizations greatly. If you are living in a place with temperatures similar to the ones of The
Arctic, you will obviously have a lot of harvesting problems because of the cold and all the snow
covering the ground. Also, problems with getting around and working hard because it is too
cold to leave your home and go out are very probable. Going out to work in conditions like these,
can leave people dead or very sick with things like hypothermia. On the other hand, extreme
heats, like in places close to the equator, also slow development for very similar reasons. People
struggle to leave their houses because of extreme heat dangers like getting deep burns or even
things like skin cancer from the sun s UV rays, and may also have harvesting problems because
of how dry it is. Land forms and geography can also have an impact on the development of
societies and civilizations. If you live in an area with a lot of bodies of water, you will be granted
with things like fertile soil, easy transportation, abundant food and water supply, more animals to
hunt (fishing) and much better hygiene than for example a place in the middle of the desert. Your
geography is very important to a stable society

Subsequently, a small group of women s rights activists in attendance at the Third National
Conference of Commissions on the Status of Women, held on June 28 30 in 1966 in Washington,
D.C., grew frustrated with the inability to influence the end of sex discrimination with regards to
employment (NOW, 2011). Recognizing the public interest in the social movement which led to
the implementation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, feminist activists seized the opportunity to
leverage the momentum and apply it to their cause for women s rights. Indeed, activist Betty
Friedan played a critical role in the formation of NOW and reportedly remarked that it was the
suggestion of the commissioners and attorney for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
(EEOC) that an organization be formed to advocate on behalf of women similarly to the way civil
rights groups were advocating on behalf of African Americans (NOW, 2011). With this in mind,
Freidan invited a group of like minded conference participants to her hotel room that evening for
further discussion about how to influence action on behalf of women. Additionally, Freidan is
credited with writing the acronym N O W on a paper napkin and motivating her fellow activists to
band together for their cause. The following day, the original group of twenty women gathered for
lunch and recruited eight additional women who were interested in the idea of creating a formal
body to address concerns at the conference. One of the women in the group, Analoyce Clapp, is

However, analysts expect growing consumer incomes, the late 2012 release of the Wii U and the
2013 release of Xbox One and PlayStation 4 to lead to a 4.3% revenue growth in 2014.
Consumers spent $1.1 billion on new physical games and consoles at U.S. retailers during the
five week period from Aug. 31 to Oct. 4, 2014, according to industry tracking firm The NPD
Group. That is up 2 percent from $1.08 billion over a similar period in 2013. The year long
growth of new console sales is making up for lackluster video game sales. Future growth
expectations for the Video Games industry have been significantly moderated, as the picture of
the market for gaming on mobile platforms becomes clearer. Since mobile games are sold at
much lower prices compared to traditional console and PC games, their rise may foretell a
slowdown of the video game market in the United States. While the recent launch of the next
generation video game consoles is expected to rekindle interest in the more expensive console
gaming market, the rise of low cost, low margin mobile gaming market may weigh on the overall
gaming market. Consequently, this is expected to pull revenue downward as consumers pay less
per hour for gaming entertainment. Revenue is expected to reach $47.4 billion in 2019 as a result
of the expanding population and an increased percentage of Americans

Comments on performanceAs the hardware basis for such capabilities, an interactive graphics
computer station SaberStation for short equips the application programmer with more than enough
processing power for the job. Based on a National Semiconductor 32 bit chip set and running at 10

minicomputer on an engineer s desk. Its architecture, which employs a floating point coprocessor

The elements of the Unix environment have been called software tools. A software tool is very
much like a component, but a bit different. Throughout this piece, we ll refer to components as
tools, but remember that you can almost always substitute component for tool. In Unix, the
standard shell utilities are all tools. So is the shell. A tool takes a standard data format lines of

types; everyone agrees on a simple format and does a small amount of translation.

Analysis Of The Garden Of Earthly Delights
Art is all around us and whether we notice it or not we are always evaluating, deconstructing, and
deciding on if we like it or not. The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch is a triptych
done in the Renaissance period. A triptych is a painting or relief carving that has three different
panels and are hinged together side by side. I first came across this paintingin my art history class
in high school and from then on I loved it due to all the imagery, colors, and the overall meaning
that it had. Ever since then this artwork has left a big imprint and got me to think about art as
much more than a picture, but to look at it as a whole and analyze it. This painting always
seemed interesting and intriguing for a couple of reasons. There are many themes going on, the
colors are very monochrome but yet look vivid and life like, and it has a very deep meaning
with the themes of mortality, sin, and shows the end results for evil doings. The triptych has
three different panels and all three have their own story to tell. When the triptych is closed and
both left and right sections are shut you see the world in tones of gray or neutral colors. At the
uppermost left corner of the closed sections you can see a depiction of God looking down at the
world with an open book in his hands. The first one on the left tells the story of how God
introduced Adam to Eve. They are shown to be in a beautiful and surreal looking location which is
thought to be paradise. Adam, Eve, and God

Comparing Beowulf, Grendel s Mother And Hildeburth
In the epic of Beowulf, written by an anonymous Anglo Saxon poet, there are three women that
have pivotal roles, Wealhtheow, Grendel s Mother and Hildeburth. Throughout the epic, we see
each of these women characters play specific roles that are important to the society they are living
in. The epic would not be the same if each womandidn t play their significant part. Each woman
plays an important role either in the mead hall, in the home or in battle. Each of these woman
makes for a successful storyline that goes together flawlessly and makes for a poem that has
been read for centuries and will continue to be read in years to come. Wealhtheow is the Queen
of the Spear Danes and wife of King Hrothgar. She only appears for a short time in the story, but
when she does she is in charge of carrying a goblet of mead around for the warriors to eat. When
her husband passes away, she is nervous about the fate of the Danish Kingdom. She makes a long
speech directed towards Beowulfthat she needs to defend her son s rights to the throne. Beowulf
shows his heroic and humble quality here by not taking the throne himself and giving it to who is
next in line. Grendel s mother, who is only referred to as this, is known to be just as massive and
monster like as her son. Throughout the story she is trying to protect her son against death and in
doing so she attacks HeorotHall. While defending her son, she kills one man but she is now scared
of the Geatish warriors and the fight they put up

  • 2. The Chorus Picking Sides In Sophocles Oedipus Rex The Chorus: Picking Sides? In the second choral ode of Sophocles play Oedipus Rex, the chorus seems to condemn the Theban citizens lack of respect for Delphi s oracles and the Gods. The chorus thoroughly explains that the Gods themselves set forth the moral laws of the universe, and nobody should dare to break these rules. The chorus noting that the father of these rules is greater than Time, and ages not (46) emphasizes the Gods power and virtue. The phrases greater than Time and ages not mimic repetition, and emphasize that the Gods will remains forever, and that no one defies the Gods will with impunity. The chorus then discusses a possible punishment for one s disrespecting Gods. The chorus saying that anyone who dare hold / no immortal power in awe / Will be caught up in a net of pain (46) clearly stresses the importance of obeying the Gods. However, in the chorus description of the Gods punishment, the chorus also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The chorus advice, From blasphemy stand apart / Else the crackling blast of heaven / Blows on his head, and on his desperate heart (46) exhibits the chorus lack of approval in the Gods punishments. The contrast between one blasphemous act and God s crackling blast, likely a euphemism for death, portrays the interaction between human and God as unjust. The chorus description of the guilty man s heart as desperate emphasizes God s harsh, merciless nature. As the chorus begins to doubt the Gods method of dealing with iniquity, the chorus then begins to question whether or not the Gods are even fit to rule humans. That the chorus ponders, Zeus, if indeed you are lord of all (47) clearly displays the chorus challenging the Gods authority directly. Here, the chorus may wonder not only if Zeus rules over all humans, but also what qualifies Zeus to rule all . Either way, both questioning the Gods existence and doubting the Gods ability to rule disrespect the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Representation Of Characterism In Picnic At Hanging Rock... Joan Lindsay, the renowned author of the distinguished Australian novel Picnic at Hanging Rock, has foreground the representation of Victorian society as repressed and constrained through the characterisation of various figures throughout the novel. The riveting tale follows the mysterious disappearance of three girls and a teacher, with only one girl to ever be seen again, during the Appleyard College s trip to the mystic Hanging Rock on Valentine s Day in 1900. One of the main focuses in the book is the depiction of the Victorian Society as uptight and controlled, which has been developed by various characters, including Miss McCraw, Mrs Appleyard and Mademoiselle. Miss McCraw, the peculiar mathematics teacher, is one of the least likely to go missing. However this is exactly what occurs and through this uncharacteristic disappearance a notion is presented that excessive repression results in extreme methods of release. The characterisation of Mrs Appleyard, combined with that of Miss McCraw, also develops the readers understanding of Victorian society and how rigid social constraints will eventually breakdown. In contrast, Mademoiselle, the passionate arts teacher, juxtaposes the previously mentioned characters by being kind and affectionate towards the girls. The characterisation of these individuals throughout Picnic at Hanging Rock contributes to the overall portrayal of Victorian society as uptight and suppressed and progresses the reader s understanding of this ... • 4. Boundaries Of Freedom Of Speech Are there boundaries of freedom of speech and expression? If free speech is provocative, should there be limits? Freedom of Speech means, broadly, that you are welcome to express any opinion without being punished for having done so. Freedom of the Press respects the right to publish and distribute factual information and opinion. Again, this can come in many forms; newspapers, TV, social media, etc. Freedom of Speechis about what you can say; Freedom of the Press is about to whom you can say it. In both cases, as long as people are not making up lies, it is explicit that the government may not restrict you. In a truly free and open society, people have the right to say pretty much whatever they want to say as long as they are not directly harming others. The time of the Buddha was one of social and religious change, marked by the further advance of Aryan civilization into the Ganges Plain, the development of trade and cities, the breakdown of old tribal structures, and the rise of a whole spectrum of new religious movements that responded to the demands of the times (Cones 10). These movements were derived from the Brahmanic tradition of Hinduism but were also reactions against it. Of the new sects, Buddhismwas the most successful and eventually spread throughout India and most of Asia. Today it is common to divide Buddhism into two main branches. The Theravada, or Way of the Elders, is the more conservative of the two; it is dominant in Sri Lanka, Burma, and Thailand (Berry 23). The Mahayana, or Great Vehicle, is more diverse and liberal; it is found mainly in Taiwan, Korea, and Japan, and among Tibetan peoples, where it is distinguished by its emphasis on the Buddhist Tantras (Berry 24). In recent times both branches, as well as Tibetan Buddhism, have gained followers in the West. It is virtually impossible to tell what the Buddhist population of the world is today; statistics are difficult to obtain because persons might have Buddhist beliefs and engage in Buddhist rites while maintaining folk or other religions such as Shinto, Confucian, Taoist, and Hindu (Corless ... • 7. Using Structured Interview Method For Future Selection (1)Refer to Appendix and based on the data available, I would recommend that this company should use the structured interview method for future selection because the method has the highest utility compare with the other two selection methods. A higher utility indicates an increased validity of the method used, and this implies that the annual productivity of these selected applicants in average dollar value would increase thereby increasing the financial position of the company (pg.191). Structured interviewmethod which is a standardized technique is the process of asking, collecting, and rating of the interviewees based on the information collected from them (pg.221). All the respondents are asked the same questions in a predetermined format and the essence of this interview method is to know and determine the past experiences and the qualities the interviewees are bringing into the company. When the numbers of applicants are increased to 200, the utility for structured interview increased from 95,080 to 96,680. Utility for the Mental Ability decreased from 75,120 to 73,360. The utility for the work sample decreased from 58,200 to 55,000. • 8. Social Process Theory Analysis There are five theories relating to an individual s propensity to engage in criminal activity. There are a few of these theories that are farther reaching than individual choice and genetic makeup. These three theories indicate that people can literally be a product of their environment. The sociological theory suggests that the majority of people will conform to the community with which they are living. The family and educational structure can influence and even foretell a person s inclination towards crime. For example, if a person lives in a community where the schools, neighborhoods, and other businesses and organizations are thriving economically and socially with order then the person will do the same. The person will be more likely to act in a way that is cohesive with the rest of the community. However, if the same organizations for any reason due to social or economic factors, suffer negative impact and disorder that the same person in that community will ultimately turn to negative solutions or crime for survival within the community. • 10. Taking a Closer Look at a CPU Although many people are computer nerds; many people do not know what a CPU is; or what it does. A computer has many parts that make up the hardware, and the software; enabling it to function correctly. One of the main components that a computer needs to work is a Central Processing Unit also known as the microprocessor. The central processing unitincludes all the computers main parts, and is the basic part of the computer. The CPU is responsible for executing out tasks, and running the software. The software runs on programs that are translated into number codes made up of 1s and 0s that the central processing unit can understand. Each code that is executed means a certain operation should take place. A CPU serves for four functions; Fetch, Decode, Execute, and write back these functions are the four primary ones. Other functions that follow are the Arithmetic and logic unit, as well as the Memory access. In the first step of dealing with a CPU the fetch function is up first. The fetch function involves retrieving information that it needs to run from the program memory, and basically giving it instructions which is put in by a number of a whole line of them from the memory. Wherever the memory may be is determined by the (PC) which is also known as the program counter. The PC stores a number that can keep track of the current place in the program. Rather than throwing all our trash in the garbage can, we, as a community should continue to recycle as much as possible. Not only does it cut down on litter, it can also add to our growing economy, cut down on pollution, and save our raw materials. Arizona currently recycles about sixty percent of its beverage containers, and because only a handful of cities have mandatory recycling programs they are the perfect candidate to experiment with a new recycling program (Bottle deposit 2). At any time after consuming the thirst quenching beverage, the customer may return his/her can to any store for his/her five cent refund. This definitely provides an incentive to recycle beverage containers. In fact, in a recent survey I conducted on my plane trip home from Thanksgiving, consumers said they often feel they are getting back free money for recycling. Either because they think of the price of the beverage as fifty five cents, or because they wait until they have several bottles or cans to return making their refund much larger than the original nickel they put down. The consumers are not the only ones who benefit because the retailers in most states also get reimbursed for the extra labor involved. This basic form of bottle bill is effective and very useful. The Oregon bottle bill is also beneficial. Oregon s immensely popular bottle bill has been effective in getting soft drink and beer cans and bottles off the roadways, and boosting recycling. Much of the law s success is due to a system that is easily understood by consumers and manageable for merchants (Bottle deposit 1). Not a modern historian, his writing is a milieu of transcribed cultural memory, creative narrative and more legitimate historical writing. While there are undoubtedly moments of falsehood, it is equally true that Livy captured many authentic historical facts in his work. Livy s History portrays in early Rome the superior power of individuals over the collective in shaping the world, their ability to enact change they themselves desire correlating to their consideration of the collective s interest. Opposition to such a claim might make the correct observation that, over time, power appears to dilute, slowly acquired by more and more of the populus romanus. kings make way for consuls, patricians lose political monopolies to the plebs, etc. While the number of people with real political power does in fact increase, collective action is almost never the impetus for any action in Livy s writings. To start at the beginning, it is a series of kings transform an empty land to a sizeable city state. After much warring, Numa established treaties and tempered the overly aggressive Roman with religion (The Rise of Rome 24). Servius Tullius created the census, perhaps the greatest tool of Roman governance (The Rise of Rome 50). But there was king Tarquinius Superbus. • 14. Analysis Of Phil Collins Land Of Confusion In 1986, a British rock band named Genesis released a song called Land of Confusion. It makes the listener imagine, and take another look at the world and how it is being run. Despite having a high tempo and a loud melody, it s not a song someone can generally dance to. The song s pop rock style gives an upbeat variety of rock music. Pop rock in nature uses only electrical instruments, which gives the song a synthetic sound. Phil Collins voice has a metallic sound which suppresses his British accent. The band usually about romance or a personal experience of someone, but this is a rare political song that questions the wisdom of world leaders at the time. Phil Collins, lead singer and drummer, called it, A political song about the mess we have landed in. It also had a very popular music video that won the 1987 Grammy for Best Concept Music Video. Throughout his works that focus on reflexivity, Hodder proposes that in the past decades, there has been a growing discrepancy between theory and practice in archaeology and that new ideas and approaches are needed to bridge this gap (Hodder, Karlsson Olsen 2008, 37). His approach to excavation is therefore a result of trying to move the practical side of archaeology away from the relatively positivist and objectivist stance that has been prominent in the past years, and steering it towards the ideals proposed by the post processual movement (Hodder, Karlsson Olsen 2008, 37). He achieves this not only by critical evaluation of himself and his methods, as has been suggested by Salzman in his critique of reflexivity, but also by recording the thought processes in the form of videos, diaries and interviews on site (Salzman 2002, 808). Femininity In Frankenstein Essay Through the lack of female characters, and the dominance of goal oriented males, Shelley demonstrates through Frankenstein that femininity, as defined by Michelle Miller, is both not a necessity, as well as a crucial component in society. The women in Frankenstein have a lot of femininity, as they are caring and compassionate and fit Miller s definition, but due to their minor presence and use in the storyline, Shelley illustrates that she doesn t believe that the world needs more femininity. Because they are used for nothing more than their looks and seen very little in the plot, Shelley clearly demonstrates her belief that femininity isn t needed to create a balanced society. On the other hand, Mary Shelley also highly supports the need for increased femininity in the world, shown through the inclusion of Henry, the female monster, and even through the absence of female characters. Miller described femininity as a personality trait, not just a characteristic confined to females or males. Henry personifies femininity and supports Miller s explanation that femininity is not just for women. Henry, deeply read books of chivalry and romance. He composed heroic songs...and was so full of kindness and tenderness (39/40). He is focused on experiences, like travelling through Europe and learning Oriental languages, while Victor is focused on chasing his creature. This quote shows the struggles she is facing from living in a poorer neighborhood. If Geraldine was living in a rich neighborhood she would have not written the poem about her neighborhood and the plot would have been very different. The story would not be the same and it would make little sense. The setting also set the mood, if she had lived in a happier neighborhood the story would definitely been different. Racial profiling is a problem because it refers discriminatory practice bye law enforcement officials of targeting individuals for suspicion of crime based on the individual s race, ethnicity, religion or national origin. In 1868, the fourteenth amendment was ratified which states, No state. Shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws, would have made racial profiling illegal had it been enforced by the courts. Many years passed and individuals are still being racially profiled. After the 2001 terrorist attack, George W. Bush signed an executive order banning the use of race, color, and ethnicity to profile suspects in 70 different federal agencies. The nature of this social problem is still very serious, so why is racial profiling still a problem in America today? 81% of American that participated in the national poll surveying the view of racial profiling that was set up in 1999 disagreed with racial profiling (Gross 1413). Many people including our former president George Bush and current president Barack Obamahave shined a light onto the subject of racial profiling and its negative outcomes. Ad Analysis Of Gillette Safety Razors Gillette Safety Razors is a company that was founded in 1901 and introduced the world s first disposable safety razor in 1903 as a replacement for straight razors and fixed blade safety razors that dominated the market at the time. To attract men to their product, the company created advertisements that they thought would appeal to average American male. One of the advertisements that Gillette is most memorable for is of a baby shavingitself with one of their disposable razors, which is an effective ad that the company has produced because it s easy to understand, is straight forward, and it s visually hard to ignore. This ad is by far one of the easiest to comprehend. The illustration shows the audience two things, that their razors can give them soft skin, and that their product is safe to use. The main focus of the ad is of an infant shaving itself, which not only creates a literal representation of the phrase baby soft skin , but makes a use of irony. This is due to the fact that this baby doesn t need to shave since it already has soft skin. The Viewer can draw a connection between the phrase and the picture and could most likely conclude that if they use Gillette s safety razor, they too can have soft skin and have a bit of a chuckle since the picture created humor through irony. The ad also tells the audience that their razor is safe by making an infant use it. Baby s are care free being by nature and will most likely hurt themselves very often. By making an infant ... Although it seems that much is being done to keep drunk drivers off the road, it seems that there is little being done to keep repeat offenders off the road. Although there are no nation wide studies available on repeat offenders, individual states keep their own records. In Ohio, for instance, 32 percent of drunk drivers are repeat offenders, and they are responsible for 55 percent of all drunk driving convictions. There have been a variety of ideas on how to keep these repeat offenders of the road, ranging from a specialized license plate (used in Ohio) to mandatory jail sentences. On average, police estimate that for every 2,000 people who drive drunk, one is convicted of a DUI. Each state has its own individual way with coping with drunk drivers and repeat offenders, but the facts don t lie. Recognizing the public interest in the social movement which led to the implementation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, feminist activists seized the opportunity to leverage the momentum and apply it to their cause for women s rights. Indeed, activist Betty Friedan played a critical role in the formation of NOW and reportedly remarked that it was the suggestion of the commissioners and attorney for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) that an organization be formed to advocate on behalf of women similarly to the way civil rights groups were advocating on behalf of African Americans (NOW, 2011). There are many themes going on, the colors are very monochrome but yet look vivid and life like, and it has a very deep meaning with the themes of mortality, sin, and shows the end results for evil doings. The triptych has three different panels and all three have their own story to tell.
