Stephen Hawking was a renowned theoretical physicist and cosmologist. He studied physics at the University of Oxford and later did postgraduate work at Cambridge University. Some of Hawking's key contributions included applying mathematics to theorize that black holes emit radiation and exploring the relationship between general relativity and quantum mechanics.
