Dave Harms is a social studies teacher at Penta Career Center in Ohio who was named the 2013 Ohio Technology Using Teacher of the Year and the 2013 OCSS Social Studies Teacher of the Year. He teaches traditional 10th-12th grade social studies as well as courses at the career center. Some of the challenges he has faced in implementing technology in the classroom include students lacking internet access at home, blocking of Google, and student apathy towards new technologies. However, he has found success using an iPad cart from the career center to record lectures and post guided notes online to help absent students keep up.
