centralization or not of the steam generators. In the case of local configuration, the steam
generator is often under the autoclave and each autoclave has its own generator. Compactness
is important because it is necessary to promote space for work areas of Central Sterilization
staff. The following advantages and disadvantages can be summarized:

The proximity of the generator to the autoclave limits the lengths of the distribution

generator by gravitation which reduce condensate losses at the traps
If the central sterilization system has an adjoining technical room in the immediate vicinity, it

reduce the installed power, knowing that it is rare to see all the sterilizers in the park working
together.
2. From the outset of the project, the designer can be asked to provide a mother pipe connecting
the local generators to each other in order to increase steam supply safety and to be able to
reduce the installed generator capacity slightly.
The time resistance of the steam supply pipes depends on the quality of the steam and
therefore the quality of the water. If the water is of poor quality (corrosive and aggressive, for
example), the equipment of the steam system can be deteriorated rapidly. For safety, the
materials used for the manufacture of this equipment, including the distribution, will be made
of stainless steel.
The insulation of the pipes of the steam distribution is important to limit:
Losses and consequently energy losses
Condensate production and consequently over-consumption of water.
Various pipe insulation materials exist commercially, such as, for example, preformed
mineral wool fiber, rubber, etc. In the specific case of Mr Steam parts, attention will be paid
to the properties of the Insulator at temperatures of the order of 150 ° C.
