Social Search in a Professional Context
Daniel Tunkelang (LinkedIn)
Social networks bring a new dimension to search. Instead of looking for web pages or text documents, LinkedIn members search a world of entities connected by a rich graph of relationships. Search is a fundamental part of the LinkedIn ecosystem, as it helps our members find and be found. Unlike most search applications, LinkedIn's search experience is highly personalized: two LinkedIn members performing the same search query are likely to see completely different results. Delivering the right results to the right person depends on our ability to leverage our each member's unique professional identity and network. In this talk, I'll describe the kinds of search behavior we see on LinkedIn, and some of the approaches we've taken to help our members address their information needs.
Making sense of your Digital WorkplaceSam Marshall
The document outlines 11 principles for the digital workplace of the future, presented as "The Digital Workplace Manifesto". It argues that work should no longer be defined by physical location but by outcomes, that the digital workplace tools should be as easy to use as personal technologies, and that both formal and informal collaboration is important. It also stresses the need for support, training and flexibility given different adoption rates of new technologies by employees.

At the 2011 Polish IA Summit, I examine big changes in optimizing for search engines.
We now know that Google is not infallible (seems that companies are easily able to game the PR system) or t all knowing (seems it takes a competitor with a friend at the New York Times to reveal said PR gaming). We also found out that Google can be capricious with blanket suppression of content from certain sites regardless of whether users find it relevant.
This presentation looks at search optimization tools ant tactics that work regardless of these changes and how to keep the site optimized.

The document discusses various methods that organizations use to recruit new staff and how recruitment methods have changed over the past 10 years due to technological advances.
Traditional methods like newspaper ads, employee referrals, and temp agencies are still used but have been supplemented by new online methods. Automated online applications and social media platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter allow organizations to more efficiently source and engage candidates.
Of the newer methods, employee referral programs and social media, especially LinkedIn, have been among the most effective at generating quality hires. However, many HR directors remain skeptical of social media's effectiveness and prefer traditional methods. Poorly designed recruitment processes that fail to properly target candidates or promote organizational benefits have proven

THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.

2. Research Statement
• Content Creation jobs are on the rise in the digital marketing field.
Today I am presenting to you the observations of what I found
through 6 job employment sites.
8. Results
• After inputting the data of the number of jobs, how many remote
jobs are available, and the pay. Zip Recruiter will be the largest site to
find a job in my field of study within office and remote work available.
Indeed would be the next job site to search, and thirdly I would use
Glassdoor. I did notice that Zip Recruiter had the highest paying jobs
in content creation and remote work. Simply hired was very low in job
openings, which was very surprising to me as I did my research. Flex
jobs was a turn off as It was asking to pay to unlock certain features.
LinkedIn was ideal on price per hour, but lacked a selection of jobs as
there were only 43 total jobs with 34 in remote work.
9. Conclusion
• In conclusion, after researching the different job sites of jobs in
content creation. It is obvious now that Zip Recruiter, Indeed.com,
and Glassdoor will be the top three job sites to do job hunting on.
Exploring the mean, median, range and standard deviation of the
number of jobs was fun. I used the formulas I learned in class to assist
in this project of creating the data. Finding my way around excel was
interesting as I created this project. Thank you so much for your time
today.
