StartUp Business: Convert your Idea into Something TangibleChristos Pittis
Startup Business: Convert your idea into something tangible
So You Want To Start a Business: Tips for Creating a Startup
If you already have a business idea or plan, it is quite hard to take the idea and convert it into something tangible.
I will show you some of the most important things to consider here.
Here are some general pointers:
• Do not create something you are not passionate about, as you will probably fail to carry through
• Think about this as a project or venture rather than a business
• Simplify the idea, then expand over time
• Spend a lot of time planning the marketing scheme – use as little money as possible
• Outsource things that don’t need to be done in-house
Since your company will be a legal entity, the form of this entity must be considered.
• Consider the legal advantages/disadvantages of each legal structure
• Choose between being an LLC, “C” Corp, or “S” Corp
• Decided where to incorporate based on tax laws, etc.
Any company will need a team which works hard to keep it going.
When making a team, consider the following:
• Think hard about whether or not you need a co-founder – it’s not at all necessary
• Consider the company’s culture
• Designate a CEO, but don’t hire one
You absolutely must brainstorm a clear path to profitability. If you don’t becoming bankrupt is a much bigger possibility.
• Start with 1 income stream
• Back up any financial models with real-life information
• Figure out how many customers you will need to be profitable.
Make sure to secure your intellectual property:
• Get an IRS corporate tax number to apply for a patent
• Make sure you are capable to produce your patent
• If you’re invention is unique, consider a provisional patent
• Consider trademarking your logo, slogan, etc.

A Critical Technology Element (CTE) is a new or novel technology that a platform or system depends on to achieve successful development or production or to successfully meet a system operational threshold requirement. Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) are a method of estimating technology maturity of CTE of a program during the Acquisition Process. They are determine during a Technology Readiness Assessment (TRA) that examines program concepts, technology requirements, and demonstrated technology capabilities.
RE:INVENTION's 12 C's of Commercializing New Products and Innovations Model injects innovation planning and discipline via a flexible/adaptive framework. The 12 C’s do not need to be sequential. Companies may emphasize some C’s more than others based on their industry and current challenges.
Pitching is a key skill of every successful entrepreneur. How do you communicate your business clearly to employees, customers, and investors? How to put together a pitch deck? What are some common pitching mistakes that make you look inexperienced? What is the best way to pitch your business?
Customer Growth Hacking: The First Things You Need to Know to Exponentially G...Rod King, Ph.D.
The late Peter Drucker once said, "The purpose of business is to create and keep a customer." How wise!
And what a customer-centric presentation of a business's main goal especially for startups: create and keep customers. But, how can entrepreneurs as well as startups rapidly and inexpensively acquire, retain, and grow customers?
To answer the above question, this presentation introduces the concept of "Customer Growth Hacking" while visually defining it. As can be seen in the above slide, Sean Ellis's concept of "Growth Hacking (GH)" is a subset of "Customer Growth Hacking (CGH)."
While Growth Hacking focuses on technology, marketing tactics, and PR to accelerate customer growth, Customer Growth Hacking deals with a more holistic perspective. In particular, Customer Growth Hacking involves strategies as well as tactics for rapidly and inexpensively discovering as well as solving Big Urgent Market Problems (BUMPs). Customer Growth Hacking uses an experimental (Lean Startup) approach while continuously applying the O.T.H.E.R. Loop to discover and solve customer problems. O.T.H.E.R. is an acronym for Observe different; Think different; Hypothesize different; Experiment different; Reflect different.
Over the years, I've developed many, many tools for holistically discovering and solving problems in any domain. All these tools are now brought together and tightly integrated under the umbrella of Customer Growth Hacking. Please note that Customer Growth Hacking is synonymous with what I sometimes call "Leaner Problem Solving."
The best of luck as you apply Customer Growth Hacking to rapidly and inexpensively discover as well as solve BUMPs.

Agility In Innovation - Delivering Breakthrough ProductsNils Davis
We at Accept Software, along with some industry analysts like Forrester Research’s Dave West and Roy Wildeman, are seeing a need to reduce product development and delivery risks, and improve quality and market satisfaction, using what they have dubbed “Agile Value Management” – analytically evaluating product tradeoffs not only continuously during execution, as in agile, but from the very start of the product planning process.
In this presentation I talk about some concepts in product planning and agile software development that may be new for you, even if you are already familiar with agile methodologies.
This presentation was given at the AIPMM's Product Management Education Conference on 17 November 2006 in San Jose.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Editor's Notes
In this iteration, we learned that asthmatics were further subdivided into affluent and lower socioeconomic brackets.
In terms of investment readiness, we are fairly certain that we have a strong and capable team. We also believe that there is a compelling clinical need here, and if we are able to expand into the larger respiratory health market including monitoring in polluted areas or capturing adult asthma and COPD segments, we would also have a large enough market to sustain a company.
Our company is Vitruvian and we are developing a product to prevent incisional hernias. Introduce the whole team…
…we discovered that no one really owns this problem, not even some surgeons.
