God used Joseph's brothers' act of selling him into slavery in Egypt as an opportunity to save Israel from famine and spiritual destruction. Joseph rose to a position of authority in Egypt and administered the country's agricultural affairs through his God-given wisdom, fulfilling God's promise to bless those who bless Israel. Though it appeared Joseph experienced misfortune, it was actually God working in unseen ways to demonstrate his sovereignty over the nations. Joseph later acknowledged that God sent him to Egypt to preserve Israel and save their lives through a great deliverance.
