This document discusses how Tilera's manycore architecture provides a solution for the increasing performance, power efficiency, and space requirements of cloud computing datacenters. It summarizes that Tilera chips offer significantly higher performance per watt than x86 servers through the use of low-power cores in high densities. This allows for slashing total cost of ownership through reduced capital and operating expenses for a given workload. The document also outlines how Tilera's architecture and software stack provide scalable performance through standard programming models and tools.
The new AMD Opteron™ processor: The core of the cloud
* Designed for the inflection point around the hyper-efficient, virtualized Cloud
* Strong OEM and end-customer support out of the gate
* Superior performance, ranging from 24% to 84% in key trending workloads
* Increased virtualization scalability
* As much as 56% lower power-per-core
* Perfectly matched architecture for today’s highly threaded workloads including cloud, web, virtualization, database and HPC
Using Lenovo ThinkServer Smart Grid Technology with Intel Node Manager Technology allows you to plan, observe, and manage your power utilization on Lenovo servers. In processor-intensive workloads, you can lower power and achieve increased performance per watt for maximum efficiency. In IO-intensive workloads, where unused processor utilization exists, you can increase server density per rack (per unit power) and recoup unused power without significantly affecting overall performance. These and the other features of Lenovo ThinkServer Smart Grid Technology offer new flexible and powerful ways for administrators to manage data center power usage and control costs.

Talk at Information on Demand Conference 2011. As part of the Informix Ultimate Warehouse Edition, Informix
Warehouse Accelerator (IWA) transparently provides up to several
orders of a magnitude speed up in query performance for
Informix Dynamic Server (IDS), as well as enormous administrative
cost savings. Combined with the Intel Xeon E7 processor series,
Informix and the Accelerator brings the performance and

It includes a rich collection of hardware components such as ARM cores, interconnect, memories and memory controllers, IO devices - ethernet, PCIe, and other peripherals. In addition it provides support for run fully featured operating systems such as Linux and Android combined with pre-packaged filesystem images that contain real workloads and benchmarks for Smartphone, Server and High Performance Computing. In this talk I'll give an overview of ARM R&D's use of the SystemExplorer tool for workload directed architectural co-design. I will focus on how we are using it in combination with the Department of Energy's co-design center proxy applications to help evaluate and enable the ARM architecture to address the power-efficiency, performance, and resilience requirements of Exascale computing.

The Next Generation of Intel: The Dawn of NehalemJames Price
Intel sets a new standard for business servers, high-performance computing (HPC) systems, and workstations built with the new generation of Intel® Microarchitecture, codenamed Nehalem, offers an unprecedented opportunity to dramatically advance the efficiency of IT infrastructure and provide unmatched business capabilities.
As data centers reach the upper limits of their power and cooling
capacity, efficiency has become the focus of extending the life
of existing data centers and designing new ones. As part of these
efforts, IT needs to refresh existing infrastructure with servers that
deliver more performance and scalability, more efficiently. The Intel®
Xeon® processor 5500Δ series provides a foundation for IT management
to refresh existing or design new data centers to achieve
greater performance while using less energy and space, and dramatically
reducing operating costs.
This presentation discusses how RackForce's new GigaCenter is able to reduce its carbon footprint by up to 50 times with a combination of proper engineering, efficient servers with virtualization and renewable hydropower.
Understanding software licensing with IBM Power Systems PowerVM virtualizationJay Kruemcke
One of the key benefits of combining workloads in a virtualized environment is the ability to pay for less than the full capacity of the machine. Unfortunately there are many misconceptions about how software licensing really works in these environments.
The IBM Power Systems PowerVM virtualization technology offers a great deal of flexibility, but that flexibility also results in complexity when determining software license requirements. This presentation covers important licensing considerations for the IBM Power Systems environment.

Estructura Social y Comportamiento Humanoyuleidybritto

★ Session Summary ★
For decades we have been able to take advantage of Moore’s Law to improve single thread performance, reduce power and cost with each generation of semiconductor technology. While technology has advanced after the end of Dennard scaling more than 10 years ago, the advances have slowed down. Server performance increases have relied on increasing core counts and power budgets.
At the same time, workloads have changed in the era of cloud computing. Scale out is becoming more important than scale up. Domain specific architectures have started to emerge to improve the energy efficiency of emerging workloads like deep learning
This talk will provide a historical perspective and discuss emerging trends driving the development of modern servers processors.

MICRO servers in BIG Data
Most of the optimization in Big Data solutions today happens in software because the available hardware choices are too similar. This status quo changes with Microservers. New and differentiated hardware platforms are emerging and the number of server vendors is increasing. These varied designs offer an unprecedented opportunity to increase performance and lower costs at the same time. However, it requires a deeper understanding of the application, the hardware, and rigorous analysis tools. In this talk, I will talk through some of the trends in microservers, and present a simple framework for choosing the best hardware for your deployment. Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).
