Turkey has significant potential to become a global leader in processed fruit and vegetable exports, especially tomatoes. It currently ranks fourth in the world for tomato paste production. Turkey exports large quantities of tomatoes and tomato products to Europe and other regions. As the EU phases out agricultural subsidies by 2013, Turkey is well positioned to capture part of the EU's tomato production and processing market due to its ideal growing conditions, competitive production costs, and growing processing industry.

The document discusses ancient concepts of human growth and development, defining growth and development, and outlining normal growth patterns and features such as differential growth and the cephalocaudal gradient. It also summarizes key stages of prenatal development from conception to the formation of the three germ layers and early development of structures like the nervous system and neural crest. Factors influencing craniofacial development such as growth factors and homeobox genes are also outlined.
The document defines dental biomaterials as materials used in dentistry and how they interact with the oral environment. It notes that the mouth provides an aggressive environment for materials, with wetness, acids, forces, temperature changes, and introduced objects. Ideal dental materials would be biocompatible, mechanically stable, resistant to corrosion or chemicals, dimensionally stable, aesthetically pleasing, easy to manipulate, adhesive to tissues, tasteless, odorless, cleanable, reliable, and affordable. Major organizations like the American Dental Association regulate dental materials and specifications. Dental materials are classified into groups like impression materials, polymeric materials, restorative materials, denture bases, gypsum products, and investments.
The document is an agenda for the 5th Global Conference on tomato processing to be held from June 8-9, 2011 in Rome, Italy. The conference will bring together leaders from the tomato processing industry worldwide to discuss opportunities for growth in production and consumption. Topics will include identifying new markets, supply trends in major producing regions, implementing new technologies, and strengthening supply chain relationships. Speakers will represent companies and organizations from around the world. The event is aimed at helping participants capitalize on global opportunities in the tomato processing sector.
The document summarizes a decline in processing tomato output from major EU producers in 2011. Preliminary results show the total output for the five main EU producers (France, Greece, Italy, Portugal, and Spain) declined by about 1 million tonnes to 8.531 million tonnes. Greece saw the steepest decline of 48% to 330,000 tonnes. Portugal's output also declined significantly by 17% to 1.06 million tonnes due to bad weather during the season. With depressed market prices, negotiations over raw material prices for 2012 are expected to be difficult as growers will demand higher prices to cover costs.
Coca-Cola plans to lead the citrus juice industry in planting new citrus groves, as citrus disease and lack of replanting threatens future supply. Ian McLaughlin of Coca-Cola said greening disease in Florida is the greatest threat. While high juice prices have not stimulated replanting, Coca-Cola intends to invest in prevention and encourage replanting. Coca-Cola has doubled its fruit juice market share since 2000 through a growth strategy of organizing brands into key platforms and expanding from powders and concentrates to premium chilled juices and smoothies.

A proposal for the use of learning activity management system (LAMS) to suppo...Sofia Papadimitriou
The integration of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) has changed significantly the field of education. Due to the adoption of new technologies, e-learning has been emerged and developed. As a result, distance learning has transformed and new possibilities have appeared. It is remarkable that distance learning became and considered as a scout of the new era in education and contributed to the quality of education. Supporting tutors by advanced learning technologies in distance education is a significant contribution for their effective role in organizational, social and educational context. The Learning Activity Management System (LAMS) is a new proposal to the learning design standard. In this paper, we propose the LAMS exploitation at the Hellenic Open University (HOU) and illustrate a guide to design and develop a sequence of learning activities on “Preparing and producing assignment”. The preparation of the assignments by students is the primary mode of the comprehension of educational materials and an important dimension of teaching students in distance education context, where they are the main responsible for their learning. This proposal highlights the advantages, requirements and constraints concerning the development of learning sequences specifically designed by tutors themselves. They follow the principles of adult learning and development of distance education material, oriented to different educational goals and individual needs of their learners.
