Editor's Notes
Today – delicate, difficult and controversial topic – But very important. God has made us sexual creatures, and, although this is a private act, it is one that we think about if not, every hour, then every day.We need to preach on this topic because others are preaching – tv, friends, schools, society. If we are quiet, we succumb to the view of others. Our sexuality is something that God is very interested in, because He designed us for a particular purpose. He created sexuality for a purpose and he wants us to use it the way He designed it.For the purposes of this discussion, we will only be focusing on same sex marriage, not sexual behavior outside of marriage, as that topic will be discussed next week.
By and large, history has not been kind to homosexuals… There once was a time when homosexuality was punishible by death, not only by Jewish culture, but by many cultures of the world. In our modern era, only in the beginning of the 19th century, did governments begin to legalize the behavior. An only in 1969 was it made legal in the United States. Russia, only in 1993 started the process. But in regards to same sex marriage, although exceptions did exist, no government in history recognized the legal union between two members of the same sex until 2001.
I talk about America because that is my home culture, but also, it could be a possible view of the future of Russia, because most civilized nations are going along this trend.
However, powers in Russia are doing what it can to stand against that trend. In many cultures, homosexuality has been met with aggressive resistance.
We all are distressed – not just homosexuals. We all have unfulfilled desires. I don’t pretend to compare my unfulfilled desires with a homosexual’s, but I do have a son who will never hold hands with his wife. He will never clap, snap his fingers, or be looked upon as normal by society. He will have many unfulfilled desires in his life, and it is not because of his sin. And when he is asked why he is like this, his answer, which was given to him by a 5 year old girl in Sunday school that he has taken on as his own is… “God made me that way”. Will he struggle with why he is like this? Will he be tempted to not follow God, but his own path? Sure. But his condition doesn’t excuse him to follow God’s path.

1. What is the harm? -- It's not about how much harm it does. It's about what is intended from the beginning. If something does something that wasn't intended, it is sin. It's not measured by how much harm it seems to cause. There are many sins that seem to do no harm in the short term. 2. I was born this way... This issue is of secondary importance. Although much is proven of the learned behavior of homosexuality, it doesn't negate the need to obey God's laws. Sin nature is innate, however it is manifested, but it doesn't excuse us not to obey. Romans 9:19,20 3. Why is homosexuality mentioned so little in the Bible? It is not spoken of much in Scripture, because it was a truth assumed. Lev 18:22

WE NEED TO TAKE THE GOOD OF EACH AND LEAVE THE BAD. ACCEPT THE SINNER LIKE THE LIBERAL, BUT RECOGNIZE THE SIN LIKE THE FUNDAMENTALIST.
