The Importance Of The Great Barrier Reef
Some people consider coral reefs the most beautiful places on earth. With the plants and animals
progressing all around the beautiful corals, it is spectacular. Located on the northeast coast of
Australia, there lies a place just like this. This is the Great Barrier Reef. These coral reefs are
called, the rainforest of the ocean, because it supports a huge diversity of life. Coralreefs are more
than just beauty, they are a home to fish and other creatures. They protect humans against floods
and storms. The reef not only contains an abundance of marine life, but it is also the world s
largest coral reefsystem. It is so gigantic, astronauts could see it all the way from outer space. This
paper offers an extensive amount of information about the Great Barrier Reef, including how it was
formed, the animals that call it home, and how it is dying.
In the Coral Sea of Queensland, Australia, the Great Barrier Reef covers the shore. It begins at
the tip of Cape York Peninsula in the north and continues down to Bundaberg in the south. It is
called The Great Barrier Reef because it creates a border between the coast and the Pacific
Ocean. Having an area of about 344,400 km, it is monumental. The reef, stretching between 15
to 150 kilometers from the shore, is filled with brilliant, vivid fish and corals. The Great Barrier
Reef was Kaiser 2 discovered in 1770 by a man named James Cook after his ship scraped against
the bottom of the reef. It was stuck there for a day,

`` Bohemian Rhapsody `` By Freddie Mercury
Anyone who has ever experienced emotional anguish, that has had the potential to ruin their life,
may find peace by the end of Bohemian Rhapsody. This song was written by an artist who felt a
great deal of pain. He expresses his emotions throughout the song, and at the end realizes that all the
pain he was dealt shouldn t matter to him. Bohemian Rhapsodywas written by Freddie Mercuryand
performed by a British rock band named Queenin 1975. It is a six minute suite divided into multiple
sections without a refrain. There is an intro, a ballad segment, an operatic passage, a hard rock
part, and a reflective coda. Bohemian Rhapsody consist of many emotional tones and imagery that
I can relate to. The lyrics gave me a sense of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He continues by apologizing to her saying, Didn t mean to make you cry./ If I m not back again
this time tomorrow/ Carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters (17 19). He is explaining to
her that he killed off the heterosexual man he once was and apologizes to his mother about his
sexuality. If he is still homosexual in later times, he tells his mother to continue on with life as if
he was never gay. The depressing tone and choice of lyrics helped me connect with these stanzas
in a more literal sense. Whenever I listen to or read the lyrics, the imagery I see is me killing a
man for the first time in combat. I see a twenty year old version of me becoming an alcoholic to
drown out the pain and misery. And lastly, I see my mother crying because she feels as if she
failed me; when in reality it was me who was failing. I tried to explain to my mother that PTSD
doesn t affect me and that she should just continue viewing me as I was before the Marine
Corps. The operatic passage of this song made me feel excitement and anxiety due to the singers
singing in a frantic tone. I didn t feel those feelings in the lyrics without the accompany of the
music. By focusing specifically on the lyrics and analyzing them word by word, I was able to feel
the excitement and anxiety of my first firefight. Lines 28 through 31 really went hand in hand with

Animal Performers Research Paper
The Truth Behind Animal Performers If someone was repeatedly hit, stabbed and whipped for the
sake of entertainment, would we sit and watch? If someone was snatched from his family and
home, for the sake of entertainment, would we promote it? If someone s well being, happiness
and health was ignored for the sake of entertainment, would we allow it? These are the conditions
thousands of animals have to endure everyday. If they aren t acceptable for humans, they aren t
acceptable for animals. While many may believe animals in entertainment attractions are well taken
care of, they are abused daily and are forced to perform.
On August 20, 1994, Tyke the female circuselephant snapped from many years of abuse. During a

sanctuaries, involving 1,500 13,000 animals, were inclined to have positive effects on the animals
welfare. On the contrary, the welfare of 230,00 to 550,000 animals kept at other attractions were
negatively affected ( Global Scale 2015). However, it is possible for these depressing numbers of
abuse to decrease. If more of us are aware of the exploitation of entertainment animals, we can either
advocate for better treatment or shun such entertainment. This could cause the demand for such
shows to decrease. It would also motivate show owners to stop using animals, eliminating unfair

People Corrupt Power In George Orwell s Animal Farm And...
William Gaddis once said Power doesn t corrupt people, People corrupt power In Animal Farm
and Mouseland both of the animals who have the power take over and create corrupt and unequal
societies. This causes the societies to fall under the rules of greedy and selfish leaders. The authors
of Animal Farm and Mouseland use the narrative techniques of characterization and conflict to
illustrate messages about how power can destroy societies and take away the equality in the society.
First, in Animal Farm and Mouseland the authors use characterization to show how power can
destroy societies and can take away the equality that is in the society. For example, in Animal
Farm, George Orwell uses the pigs as a way to show the different levels of importance. It shows
how the other animals are always below the pigs. On pages 35 and 36 it states You do not
imagine, I hope, that we pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and privilege? Many of us
actually dislike milk and apples. I dislike them myself. Our sole object in taking these things is
to preserve our health. Milk and apples (this had been proven by science, comrades) contain
substances absolutely necessary to the well being of a pig. We pigs are brainworkers. Orwell
uses the words absolutely necessary to the well being of a pig making it seem the most important
to the pigs and no other animals.This means that the pigs started to take the things they wanted and
decided they were the ones who had all of the power. This shows that the power they created could
give them more equal rights than the others. In a similar ways Tommy Douglasuses the cats to
show how the other animals are below them and the cats are the ones who have power.In
paragraph 3 of Mouseland it states A government made up of big, fat, black cats. Douglas states
fat, black, cats. characterizing the cats are lazy and useless. This means that in Mouseland there
was a society run by animals who didn t do what they needed and they were lazy. This shows that
just because of the way the cats are characterized they aren t good leaders and they have the
power. This shows that in Animal Farm and Mouseland the people in power were characterized as
greedy and selfish, but came off to the

Order Code RS22814 February 21, 2008 FDA Fast Track and Priority Review Programs Susan
Thaul Specialist in Drug Safety and Effectiveness Domestic Social Policy Division Summary By
statutory requirements and by regulation, guidance, and practice, the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) works with several overlapping yet distinct programs to get to market
quickly new drug and biological products that address unmet needs. FDA most frequently uses three
mechanisms for that purpose: Accelerated Approval, Fast Track, and Priority Review. The first two

105 115) directed the Secretary to create a mechanism whereby FDA could designate as Fast
Track certain products that met two criteria. First, the product must concern a serious or life
threatening condition; second, it has to have the potential to address an unmet medical need.
Once FDA grants a Fast Track designation, it encourages the manufacturer to meet with the
agency to discuss development plans and strategies before the formal submission of an NDA
/BLA. The early interaction can help clarify elements of clinical study design and presentation
whose absence at NDA/BLA submission could delay approval decisions. However, FDA makes
similar interactions available to any sponsor who seeks FDA consultation throughout the stages
of drug development. A unique option within Fast Track is the opportunity to submit sections of
an NDA/BLA to FDA as they are ready, rather than the standard requirement to submit a complete
application at one time.4 2 Other options fit very limited situations and support shorter times
from idea to approved public use. The Animal Efficacy Rule (21 CFR 314 Subpart I and 21 CFR
601 Subpart H) allows submission of data from animal studies of effectiveness as evidence to
support applications of certain new products when adequate and well controlled clinical studies in
humans cannot be ethically conducted and field efficacy studies are not feasible. The Project

The Severity Of De-Icing In Airports
In winter, the snow can be a hassle but the ice is what can be more challenging. Imagine how
challenging it can be for an airport when dealing with the ice on not only the tarmacs but the
planes as well. Airports have been using the same de icing method for a while now, but it is not
the most efficient way out there, nor is it the cheapest. There are a few reasons why aircrafts
must be de iced before take off in order to ensure that the aircraft is safe to fly. The current
solution to de ice an aircraft is inefficient and rather expensive, while there is a much better way to
complete the process. Who wouldn t want their airport to run smoother and have flights in and out

they will need to be efficient, cost effective, and fast in almost everything that they do; which
they are. Right down to the small detail that often goes unnoticed of de icing an aircraft. At JFK
they have bought into a new system, a much better system. This system uses infrared technology

to deice aircraft (In text citation author year). The process is quite simple, taxi the airplane to
what seems to be a big open hanger, and sit there for a little bit until they are cleared for takeoff
and the ice has melted. The program has had times noted of ranging between 28 minutes to 43
minutes for a full block, which is the time from brakes on the brake off (boarding to takeoff).
Comparing that to the hour or hour and a half it takes to de ice a plane in the conventional way,
this seems like a better system already just based on the amount of time it takes to do the job.
Toronto Pearson has rivalled that by building a massive de icing facility where they can de ice 11

Compare And Contrast Greek Culture Vs American Culture
1. The Greeks had similarities and differences compared to traditional American s and our
culture. Similar to Americans, Greeks were a very entertainment based culture. They had plays,
music, and texts to pass their free time, all of which most Americans typically experience in a
day. Cities and towns existed, with city states serving almost like today s capitals of each state.
Farming played a big part in their culture, which is shared with America, as farming continues to
be a trade that is necessary, no matter what age. A military existed to protect their society, like
America has. Religion was relatively relaxed as a subject in Greece, where they didn t really think

Critical Examination of the Idle No More Movement
In October of 2012, Bill C 45 was introduced into Ottawa by the Harper government.
The bill is a 457 page document, containing over 64 amendments to a multitude of acts and
regulations, including notable revisions to the Indian Act, the Navigable Waters Protection Act and
the Environment Assessment Act. Bill C 45, later renamed the Jobs and Growth Act, was passed
through government with minimal consultation from the Indigenous peoples of Canada, effectively
rendering the peoples voice silent and proving the neglect and mistreatment of the Indigenous
peoples by the government of Canada.
Shortly after these amendments were introduced, four women from Saskatchewan began
communicating via social media to discuss Bill C 45. The main concern these women had were if
the bill was going to further oppress Indigenous rights and destroy environmental lands across
Canada. A movement was formed in an attempt to stop the government from introducing more
legislation that will erode Indigenous rights. On November 10, 2012, an event was organized to
raise awareness regarding this bill. The movement was to be known as the Idle No More movement.
This paper will critically examine and analyze the Idle No More movement and Bill C 45 from
three distinct known theoretical political discourses Neoliberal Capitalism, Decolonizing Eco
Anarchism and Social Liberal Feminism and from perspective that I hold, an Eco Radical Feminist.
When analyzing this movement from a neoliberal capitalistic

Battle Of The Somme Essay
The Preliminary Bombardment Of The British Empire On The German Empire In The Battle of
The Somme
The Battle of the Somme, also known as The Somme Offensive, was a battle fought in the First
World War by the allied forces headed by the British Empire in support of France against the
German Empire on an approximate 30 kilometer front near the upper reaches of the Somme river in
France. The Somme Offensive is attributed as starting on July 1st 1916 with an infantry attack and
concluding on November 18th 1916 for a total of 141 days ending in an inconclusive stalemate
leading to a war of attrition between both empires. Before the infantry attack on July 1st the Allied

Haig settled late on a plan with a five day artillery barrage leading to an infantry attack on June
29th. The artillery barrage was designed for the first two days to reduce the Germans wire
defenses to create freedom of maneuver for the infantry across the no man s land. The last three
days of the barrage would be used to reduce trenches, emplacements, strong points, and artillery
pieces, as well as fire smoke and gas canisters to confuse the German forces about their
intentions. Even with over 1,500 artillery pieces at his disposal this would not be enough to
make enough of an effect on German defenses. Haig tasked his artillery to too many areas on the
front wires and in depth along the 30 kilometer trench system. After the five day artillery
bombardment a majority of wire was intact and many trenches and emplacements were still usable
and manned. The plan would have had better results if Haig would have focused on the wire
obstacles for the infantry attack and not try to remove all the trenches, emplacements and strong
points by artillery. By the end of the fifth day the Allied forces were close to being out of artillery

Pet Guardian Research Paper
Welcoming responsible pet guardians has a multitude of advantages in the current rental market.
How can property management maintain a pet friendly community without alienating residents who
don t have pets?
Pet Screening, Policies, and Practices:
A thorough screening process is the most important step in identifying responsible pet guardians. An
inoculated pet, free of parasites, well trained, and on a leash is not likely to cause problems. For
thorough screening, management can require a pet rental agreement addendum, copies of vet
records, a copy of spay or neuter verification, and a dog training certificate with pet tenant
applications. Responsible pet people will also be glad to include a letter of recommendation from

Pet Poop
Desirable pet guardians train their dogs which includes teaching them to poop outside during
daily walks. Any conscientious dog person is willing and prepared to pick up after their dog
during walks. Accountable pet guardians are willing and eager to sign a pet rental agreement
addendum that specifies cleaning up after their dogs. No resident will be happy stepping in dog
poop, but someone without pets is far less likely to laugh it off or even tolerate it.
A pet friendly residential community can have designated outdoor dog park areas separate from
common community areas. Dispensers with poop bags, placed throughout the property, will remind
dog residents of their cleanup responsibilities and will assure other residence that dog cleanup is
expected.
Allowing cats outdoors can alienate community residents. Cats usually don t frequent dog parks,
yet they do poop. Most resident would prefer not to have their garden turned into a litter box or
cats peeing in their planters. Unwanted litters of kittens form cat colonies create a myriad of health
issues and resident alienation. If management only accepts indoor cats, these problems can be
avoided. A reliable cat person keeps their cat indoors even without an indoor

Brand Personality And Infosys
Brand Personality
Brand personality is the way a brand speaks and behaves. It means assigning human personality
traits/characteristics to a brand so as to achieve differentiation. These characteristics signify brand
behaviour through both individuals representing the brand (i.e. it s employees) as well as through
advertising, packaging, etc. When brand image or brand identity is expressed in terms of human
traits, it is called brand personality. For instance Allen Solley brand speaks the personality and
makes the individual who wears it stand apart from the crowd. Infosys represents uniqueness, value,

Assignment Three. Case 9.2 Bilateral or Unilateral Contract: In the case of Bickham v
Washington Bank Trust Company, a distinction must be made as to what type of contract has
been made if any. In a unilateral contract is also called a Promise for an Act (Cheeseman, 2013).
The meaning of this is that an act must be completed in order for there to be a contract. An
example of this is if someone was to promise to pay a set amount if a second party painted a wall.
If the wall is not painted then the contract does not happen. A bilateral contract is a contract in
which two parties agree to a promise for a promise (Cheeseman, 2013). In this case there is a

The current loans, regardless of current economic issues the bank is having, should not and cannot

Government Intervention Within The Market Place
Why does the government feel the need to intervene in the market place especially when the
economy is always so hard to predict? The government intervenes within the market place because
they believe they know what is best for our economy. They attempt to address what is inefficient
within the market place in order to create a more efficient economy. There are many scenarios of
government intervention within the market place. Three great examples of when the government
intervened within the market place was the first income taxand Internal Revenue Act in 1862, the
Specie Resumption Act during the Panic of 1873, and the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882.
The first example of government intervention in the market place occurred during the American
Civil War. In 1862, the government realized that they would need a bit more revenue coming in to
cover the costs of the Civil War. Because of this, President Abraham Lincolnimplemented a tax on
household income. A three percent tax was placed on incomes within the range of $600 and
$10,000. A five percent tax was placed on incomes more than $10,000. However, as the war kept
dragging on, the government realized that this income tax was not going to be enough to cover the
expenses of the war.
Later in 1862, Congress passed the Internal Revenue Act. This placed a tax on various items.
Things like gunpowder, iron, leather, playing cards, whiskey, and telegrams were taxed as a result
of this act. The Internal Revenue Act also created a

Environmental Impacts Of Ecuador Essay
In today s hectic world people work longer hours and utilize more technology and energy more than

ways. It is hard to deny the benefits modern technology has produced for the world, in industry and
in everyday life. With more and more technological breakthroughs, there have been many positive
ecological impacts, but the negative impacts are almost overwhelming. A Perfect example would be

Before human impact Ecuador must have been covered by an estimated fifty two million acres of
forest. During the coca and banana boom, the coastal lowland forests were cleared for these
agriculture crops. In the interandean basin native vegetation has been practically eliminated since
colonial times, replaced by crops, pasture, towns and cities, and eucalyptus and pine plantations.
This region suffers serious soil erosion problems. Today only about 1 2% of its original forest
covers remains. Only about 5% remain of the rich forests of the coastal region, most of which have
been destroyed in the last 50 years by logging, agroindustrial monocultures (banana, cacao, coffee,
African palm) and colonization. In the province of Esmeraldas (in northwest Ecuador), the last
unprotected old growth forests on the coast are now being liquidated by the timber industry and
cleared for huge plantations of African palm which are currently responsible for the fastest
deforestation rate in South America.
Currently Ecuador s major environmental problems are erosion in the highland areas,
deforestation, and water pollution. Water Resources estimated that the amount of arid land
increased by 31.5% between 1954 and 1979, when 7.5% of the coastal lowland and Sierra were
classified as arid (meaning severe lack of water). Between 1981 and 1985, 840,000 acres of land

jungles and rivers. The Amazon rainforests, jungles, and rivers have a lot of diverse wildlife and
interesting ingredients that grow all over South America. This will help start the Amazonian
cuisine for many South American cultures. In Brasil, Chef Alex Atala s is heavily influenced by
his discoveries during his trips to the Amazon. He would change the style of the Brasil cuisine
by using the ingredients he found by putting the ingredients to the test. The majority of his
inspiration is rooted in Brasil s majestic rainforest and all 26 states of Brasil. Chef Virgilio
Martinez would explore his homeland of Peru for exotic ingredients. He wanted to focus on
resources of Peru ecosystem. This will be a once in a lifetime experience for his guest and that
will make it a symbol for Peru. Both will do something special by making dishes using the native
resources and ecosystem. Brasil is the biggest country in both South America and Latin America.
Brasil is well known for its ingredients used in the food they make in all of their 27 states. The
ingredients first used by native peoples in Brasil include cassava, guaraná, açaà palm, and

Ethics In Sociological Research
In sociological research ethics require honesty, truth, and openness, condemning plagiarism, and
informing subjects they are being studied and should never be harmed. It s argued on both sides
that the subject should be and should not be informed of the intent of the research. While I think it
is sneaky to not inform the subject of the researchcontent, I also believe that in doing so could
hinder accurate results, by making the subject to researcher relationship biases. For example, I
worked for a company that did different types of surveys. While, the respondent was almost
always left unaware of the company requesting the stud, we always had a briefing process in
which we vetted the respondents by reading a brief introduction on what the survey was about (i.e.
row crops, cattle, pesticides, etc.). If the respondent qualified after a few brief questions, then the
survey would proceed. At no point in time was the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, deceit in representing intentions is unethical. For example, in the reading of about
Humphreys Research, he misrepresented himself when he changed his appearance to visit the men
in their home, outside of the tearoom. I do not believe that he misrepresented himself while we was
the watch queen , even though he took notes of his observations, because the men participating in
the sexual acts were doing so in a public place. However, when Humphreys, changed his
appearance, visited these men in their private homes, and then lied about the study being for
medical research, was unethical, because he was not being truthful in his intentions in the subject s
private environment. While some may argue that a restroom is a private environment, when the

Kansas University Admission Essay Sample
Research is the driving force behind all scientific innovations. Gathering talented and passionate
people to increase the understanding of the world to ultimately apply a field of science changes
the world. I am currently in my third year of double majoring in chemistry and biology at
Concordia University Nebraska. I have thoroughly enjoyed my studies thus far from learning why
drugs have a specific impact on the body to predicting electron movement between molecules and I
look forward to learning more. But at such a small school, one educational experience that is
missing is the in depth, focused research projects like those available at KU.
A research internship at Kansas University will give me the opportunity to study specific ways
chemistry affects the human body. Whether studying simulations to increase the knowledge of
biological processes or discovering the function of proteins of cancer cells, the results will promote
manipulations of these methods to benefit the human body. The study of biological molecules is
the foundation of all medicine. Biological ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Research Paper On How To Shoot A Three-Pointer
If you are wondering how to shoot a three pointer the proper way, then you should Read and
follow the steps I call B.E.E.F. Basketball players like Stephen Curry, Dirk Nowitzki, Buddy
Hield, Klay Thompson, Kyrie Irving, Kyle Korver, Eric Gordon and so any many other
significant NBA shooters apply B.E.E.F in their jump shot. The first letter in B.E.E.F is B. B, is
for Balance. What that means is that you have to keep your feet shoulder width apart with your
dominant foot slightly ahead of your other foot, about six inches while bending your knees for a
good foundation. By applying this step in your stance before you shoot, it will improve your
chance of making a three pointer. Next, comes E, which stands for Eyes. What that means is that

Prostate Cancer Physiotherapy
Prostate cancer is now the most common cancer in men in the UK and the second highest cause of
male cancer death. Yet despite its high prevalence it is also highly survivable, with figures from
Cancer Research UK showing that 84 per cent of men diagnosed with the disease survive ten years
or more following treatment.
With such a high survival rate would be easy to assume that the needs of this patient group are
being adequately met. But this isn t the case, says specialist prostate cancer physiotherapist Helen

Research on men s health behaviours has shown that men are more hesitant than women about
seeking support or advice about their health, she explains.

Discuss The Aspects Of Jean Piaget s Theory Of Cognitive...
Which aspects of Jean Piaget s theory of cognitive development have been empirically supported or
refuted? Jean Piaget proposed his theory of cognitive development in his book The Origins of
Intelligence in Children (1952). In this theory, he divided cognitive development into a series of
stages and periods based on the fundamental assumption that children are mentally active from the
moment of birth, a controversial concept at the time since it was previously believed that until a
child could communicate that they were not mentally active. His theory can be described as
constructivist, meaning that children construct knowledge themselves in response to their
experiences. He based his theory primarily on interactions with his own children and additional
interviews with other children yet has stood the test of time, remaining the most well known
cognitive developmental theory, encompassing a diverse range of topics within children s
development from the first days of infancy through to adolescence. Piaget argued that cognitive
development involves both continuities and discontinuities. The three main sources of continuity
are vital in driving development and work together from birth. The first process, assimilation,
occurs when children integrate new information into their current knowledge (Santrock and Yussen,
1978). Secondly, accommodation is when children adjust to new information and enhance their
current knowledge in response to new experiences, as defined by

China s Economic Growth Due to Recent Foreign Policies
China s Economic Growth Due to Recent Foreign Policies
Recent Chinese economic policies have shot the country into the world economy at full speed. As
testimony of this, China s gross domestic product has risen to seventh in the world, and its economy
is growing at over nine percent per year (econ gen 1). Starting in 1979, the Chinese have
implemented numerous economic and political tactics to open the Chinese marketplace to the rest
of the world. Just a few areas China s government is addressing are agricultural technology, the
medical market, and infrastructures, like telecommunications, transportation and the construction
industry. Chinese reform measures even anticipated the rush of foreign investment by opening

Even after accounting for all the economic benefits recognized by the world, the Chinese still come
out as the country with the most gains. However, there are more motives behind China s market
reforms than just purely economic.
On the political front, China is fast becoming an integral part of international organizations. The
Chinese government is making a conscious effort to reenter
GATT (the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade), realizing the importance of creating a
favorable trading status among foreign nations. Slowing this progress, the 124 nation strong trade
bloc has requested that numerous conditions must be met by China before the nation can become a
member of GATT once again. Several of these provisions are the elimination of import prohibitions,
restrictive licensing requirements and other controls or restrictions; lifting of all restrictions on
access to foreign exchange and full convertibility of the Chinese currency (china tr. 2). Other
important key themes behind China s Open Door policies are economic and technological
cooperation with the West (china tr 1) and that China s government no longer supports Third World
revolution. Instead, China realizes that cooperation with developing countries would be far more
practical. Although Chinese foreign policy is aimed at opening the nation s entire economy to the
world, it neglects the agricultural market almost entirely, with the exception

Puritans believe God is the creator of all things and if the Bible does not explain their questions

An organization s design is made keeping in mind the decision making principle of the company
and the flow of information (both formal and informal) within the company. Four organizational
structures are the most common to all organizations, namely: hierarchical, flat, matrix and

The hierarchical structure comprises of a top level management and keeps getting segmented to
different levels depending on the work that has to be done. The decision making is done by the
topmost level management in the structure while the lower level work force follows the rules

In the FBI case, it was their lack of information among departments that caused the ineffectiveness
of its performance. In the article Who killed the Virtual Case File? it is clearly identified that the
gaps in information made it difficult to solve issues in crime and terrorism.
Though the senior management in both the company cultures showed failure in embracing
technology for example in the case of FBI paper work was followed instead of using electronic
documentation, FBI also failed to identify the use of database in a smart and effective manner to
store and share information securely among departments. This was however not the case with
Kodak. It was the reluctance of senior management to accept the new technology though they
identified the new horizon of business identified by them.
Though Kodak had flaws with decision making by its senior management, they have acted upon not
making hierarchical structure as their organization s framework. Another article called Lessons
from the past by Jessica Lipnack and Jeffrey Stamps on Turning Hierarchy on its Side explains the
famous Pizza organization of Eastman Kodak. This structure encourages that company to
communicate horizontally and not vertically. There is no up or down chain of command, instead it
is a cross sectional approach. Though it maintains hierarchy, the CEO s role is more central in the

A Fundamental Advantage Of Ecs Adjustment For Effective...
A fundamental advantage of ECS adjustment for effective dynamic thermal storage is that it is
relatively easy to implement. Conventional air conditioning and thermostats are designed to
perform in slow control loops, on time scales of minutes. ECS adjustment can use time scale
separation and stay away from this effective dc loop action. In this sense, an ac feed forward
signal is injected into a drive to adjust power flow on fast time scales, while avoiding interference
on slow time scales. The average performance of the ECS system remains intact, and the fast
adjustment is transparent to users. Fig. 2 displays this implementation control. Bandpass filtered

A few recent papers [53] [56] have demonstrated a virtual synchronous machine (VSM) concept,
particularly for microgrid applications and usually for distributed generators utilizing the same
ac dc ac conversion stages. The same concept applied on flywheel based energy storage is
discussed in [57]. Given the similarities existed in the MEA power grid and motor controlled
thermal storage, it is deemed feasible to implement the VSM concept in this research. A high
level description is shown in Fig. 3. For a synchronous machine in the rotating reference frame,
the d q voltage and current relationship is shown in (1a b), where vg is the grid voltage, R is the
stator resistance, M is the magnetizing, and Ld = Lq = L is assumed. On the other hand, the
active front end (i.e., the hex bridge converter connected to the gird) follows (2a b) in d q
reference frame at П‰c rotating speed, where Rg and Lg are grid tied resistance and inductance,
and vc is the output voltage at the converter controlled by modulation index from the dc voltage
bus []. The analogy between (1a b) and (2a b) is straightforward. By equating the first three terms
and varying the modulation indices, md and mq, the active front end mimics the VSM proposed in
[ZhongQC]. The purpose of the ac motor tied inverter (i.e., the left hex bridge converter in Fig. 3)
is to main a constant 270 V dc bus by adjusting the motor speed and torque using conventional
vector controls. Given the limited

The Eyes Were Watching God Character Analysis

element of someone s personality is due to their environment or past events of their lives. Janie

with Nanny and The Washburns, her relationships with Logan Killicks and Joe Starks or Jody, her
experiences with them along with events that took place while being with them or in relation to
them, how they affected her mentality, and how she grows up and matures throughout her life to
the self reliant woman telling the story. In The Eyes Were Watching God, by Zora Neale Hurston

the struggles in Janie s problematic relationships with Logan and Joe impacted her, which gave her

The beginning phase of Janie s development was her marriage to Logan, where she thought that
the marriage which Nanny forced upon her might end up fulfilling her aspiration for love.

Character Analysis Of Travel With Steinbeck
Charles le Chien; a bleu gentleman poodle who prefers a negotiation over any conflict. Born in
Paris, France, Charley was trained and eventually brought into Steinbeck s life. These companions
later travel around America while trying to answer the question What are Americans like today?
With only his necessities and Charley, Steinbeck began his long, overwhelming journey across
America. In Travels with Charley, Steinbeck is greatly influenced by Charley and his actions. As
Steinbeck traveled to Long Island, his relationship with Charley was slowly introduced as they
headed for Niagara Falls. Charley caught it from me, but he is a gallant dog. He came into the
bathroom and that old fool played with the plastic bath mat like a puppy. What strength of
character, what a friend! (Steinbeck 47). From this excerpt, we can understand that Steinbeck
sees Charley not only as a dog, but as his friend. He seems to admire Charley s sense of character,
as it lights up the environment around him. The quality of their friendship is important
throughout the first section of this novel because it will indicate how the rest of their journey
will layout, especially during demanding times. From the first example, we can infer that
Charley s character towards Steinbeck comforts him. The traits that the author sees in Charley
helps him to feel accompanied rather than lonely during his travels. In establishing contact with
strange people, Charley is my ambassador... A child can do the same thing, but a dog is better.
(Steinbeck 65). From this line, Charley is described as one who can do things a human might do
for Steinbeck, but of better quality. Steinbeck suggests that his companion is also his ambassador,
making it appear that Charley s actions directly affect the author s reactions. From both examples
in context, we can know that Charley s basic characteristics lay a basis for Steinbeck and how he
interacts with people. This might affect his conversation habits, or the way that Steinbeck sees
America as a whole. On page 85, Steinbeck writes I would have to retrace my way at least twenty
miles, find a vet, have Charley vaccinated, and then return. While reading this section, the reader

Disadvantages Of Political Dynasty
Political dynasty is a well known method of politicians in the Philippines wherein the members of
the family been made also a member of the government in order for them to not lose power but gain
more power. This act abides an unfair and unjust for the reason that the government is not a
business that a family can run by themselves, but the governmentis for all and other people should
be given chances wherein they can be the one that leads a community. The government or politics
is not a business that can be run by generation and generation of a family the government

the Catholic Church s practice of selling indulgences and view skeptically the notion that a papal
pardon rather than penance or genuine contrition can achieve forgiveness of sins. Luther argued
that Christians were being falsely told that they could obtain absolution for souls in purgatory by
buying indulgences.
All Saints Church in Wittenberg, Saxony in the Holy Roman Empire, locally known as the Castle

though Luther s prince, Frederick III, and the prince of the neighboring territory, George, Duke

for which they paid, claiming they no longer had to repent of their sins, since the document

The Day I Enlisted During The United States Army
The day I enlisted in the United States Army is the day my life changed and everything else
around me, it is who I am today. Before then, I grew up in a family of five, four boys and one
girl. Struggling day by day just to get around, my mother at that time was the only one working
and my father was politician man and working for the Mayor his right hand man for about four
years. Until the new election came and that s when my father got released from his job. With my
mother the only one working she had many mouths to feed, my dad would do the best he could
every day. My dad was like a jack of all trades as people would say, he is a fisherman, carpenter,
cook and other skills I didn t know he possessed. My father even though he was not... Show more

So when I turned eighteen, I and some of my classmates flew to the neighboring island to see the
United States Army Recruiter. My recruiter showed me a video of what an infantryman does and
I was sold, then told him that this is the perfect job for me. I didn t know what I was getting
myself into. It was hard for my parents to accept that I was joining the Army, especially my
mom, all she could think of was that I was going to war and bad things could happen to me. She
didn t want me to experience that kind of life and she couldn t bear the thought of losing one of
her own children. So the day I flew off to basic I told my parents, Everything will be fine trust
me . This was my first time leaving the islands and being away from my family for a good while.
So myself and two of my buddies started basic training together, we stuck together as soon as we
got to 30th AG. I didn t know what I was getting myself into I have never seen so many different
people in one area. I have never experienced being away on my own for the first time, I had no
clue what was going on. I wanted to give up and quit, but I told myself no! I cannot go back
home as a quitter, ever since then, my motivation that kept me going was my family and friends, I
wanted them to be proud of who I ve become. I graduated basic training February 2005 with Fort

Insanity in a Sane World
Insanity in a Sane World Holden Caulfield is an insane person in a sane world. What is insanity?
Insanity is when you re in a state of mind that prevents normal perception, behavior or social
interaction. This state is mental illness. Insanity is when you do things in deranged or
outrageous ways that could frighten people, or make people feel uncomfortable when around
you. It s when you do things out of the ordinary; yet feel as if they are ordinary. Insanity could
come about when you re depressed, or after a traumatic event, and sometimes even by keeping all
your feelings bottled up inside of yourself. Sane people are sensible, reliable, well adjusted and
practice sound judgment. It s behavior that is expected in a society. By these... Show more content

Antolini was trying to hinder him from going down the wrong path. Holden focuses on the little
details like the gasoline rainbows in the puddles on the street and which suitcase is nicer. He
overlooks the obvious, big picture which could better help him adjust and focuses instead on
little, often insignificant things he can handle. Moreover, Holden only pays attention to the
things he s interested in and doesn t pay attention to the teachers or work given at school. This
lack of interest has caused him to drop out of four schools and, therefore missing out on
knowledge necessary for his well being and self discipline. Holden does not like change. Holden
needs change, he needs to grow up. He needs to change his thoughts and behavior. Holden says
Certain things should stay the way they are, you ought to be able to stick them in one of those
big glass cases and just leave them alone (122). Finally, Holden s overly judgmental and critical.
When he sees someone he automatically judges the person because they aren t in his perfect
fantasy. In the bar he points out the flits (gay people) and, he thinks that his old roommate Dick
Slagle has a inferiority complex just because he didn t put his suitcases on out to show when
Holden did. Holden thinks of Mr. Haas (his phony headmaster) as someone [shakes] hands with
them and [gives] them a phony smile (14). Holden thinks of Ernie the piano player as someone
who has been affected by phoniness in order to attain fame.

Importance Of Purification Of Water Essay
Purification of Water to Save Humanity Thought water is the other name of life, more than billion
people around the world cannot drink clean water. Some of them used to walk for milieus just to
fetch water for themselves and their families. In some places where the supply of water is enough,
it is found most of the time the water is polluted with virus and bacteria which can form deadly
diseases. Not only in the undeveloped countries but also in developing countries water sources are
polluted sometimes. And there s another group that lacks access to abundant, safe, clean drinking
water: astronauts. As astronauts have to take things what they need and they have to reuse and
recycle every dewdrop of water. On the International Space Station, where U.S. Astronaut Scott
Kelly recently spent a year in orbit, specialized technology developed by NASA collects every
bit of moisture, including sweat and urine, and turns it into drinkable water Filtration is the only
solution. As all filters are not equal depending on the expenditure some of them can only drain
out dirt and low level bacteria which are harmful mostly for young children s as the water used
to carry a dangerous virus. Luckily the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)
scientists come forward with their best water filtering technology. In 2000, Florida based Argon
ide was working with nanomaterials and discovered its Nanoceramic fibers had properties that
made them excellent as water filters. The main benefit to the nanofibers was their unusually
strong bio adhesively meaning particles, including viruses and bacteria, were easily attracted to
the fibers. When water passed through a filter woven of the fibers, these particles flocked to the
fibers and got stuck there, leaving virus and bacteria free water on the other side. NASA rewarded
the company. The Nanoceramic fibers produce an electropositive charge when water flows through
them. Many impurities carry a slight negative charge and are absorbed by the filter, explained Tom
Smokoff, founder of Water Pure Technologies. Some filters were designed by using membranes
with small pores so

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, by Stephen R. Covey
In the self improvement book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, author Stephen R.
Covey presents an integrated and principle centered approach for solving personal and
professional issues and problems. Covey uses real life examples as well as his own experience
to reveal a step by step way for living with integrity, honesty, and self respect. In the book he
explains principles that give someone the comfort to adapt to change and the wisdom to take
control and full advantage of the opportunities that the business world and personal lives create.
This book seems very useful and I found a few habitsthat I plan to adopt and work at including in
my everyday life. They are basic things in everyday life that can make things easier, more... Show

He goes on to explain that effective, proactive people spend most of their time in Quadrant II. To
accomplish this I would take his advice and try to organize my week on Sundays and try to
delegate responsibility with goals in mind not set ways that they have to be done. For the
interdependence section, the idea of making emotional deposits as often as possible will allow one
to feel better and work more efficiently with everyone s needs in mind.
The major emotional deposits Covey talks about are; understanding the individual, attending to little
things, keeping commitments, clarifying expectations, and showing personal integrity. With the
help of these habits I feel like I could improve myself. Understanding someone is very important
in everyday activities and especially in business situations. You need to understand who your
consumer is as well as whom your co workers are. When you understand them on a deeper level
you can relate better and be more productive. Something I ve always believed in is the attention to
little things matter most. It shows people that you do care and pay attention. This ties in well with
keeping commitments because that is something that is not always a big deal but can mean a lot to
people.

The Theory Of Consciousness And The Scientific Processes
Processes and ideas are constantly changing, even evolving. This occurs across the entire spectrum
of most all environments with dynamics natures; within society, within religion, and within science.
More specifically, both the study and observation of consciousness and the scientific processes
allocated towards those ends have changed profoundly over time. It can also be observed that the
evolution of the study of consciousness parallels the development of the scientific method, to the
extent that an evaluation of the former can indicate the developmental position of the latter. This is
clearly evidenced throughout Miller s essay on the former topic, and the essay itself can be
interpreted as a chronology of the latter topic when approaching it from this viewpoint. The chief
elements that serve towards this end indicating the development of theories on consciousness and
the scientific processes behind them are societal and religious pressures, two elements that are
exceedingly prevalent in Miller s work.
Religion and society had large influences on the rate of development and, consequentially, the
quality of early theories of consciousness, in effect improving the former while markedly
diminishing the latter. Within the essay, there were many examples of societal pressures driving
the likes of Mesmer, Baron Dupotet, Elliotson and their historic counterparts into hurried and less
than rational and less than scientific studies and conclusions. For instance, at the opening

A Dark Gloomy Night By Leonardo Da Vinci
On a dark gloomy night in the middle of field in Paris, it was drizzling. This field appeared to be
no different from any other that is until a ghost ascended out of the ground. This ghost was
Leonardo Da Vinci and he had returned for a purpose. To steal the Mona Lisa, why, well you re
going to have to figure that out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the bustling city of Paris it was getting chilly, the wind whipped my long black hair around as I
stood in front of the newspaper machine. I was just about to insert a shiny quarter when she heard
someone yell at her. Nicole! Guess what, my friend Melodie screamed from across the street,
Someone stole a painting at the Louvre. Come here it s in the paper. She hurriedly gestured for me
to cross the street. I sighed disappointedly as I trudged across the street, pulling my furry coat
around myself tighter. I glared at my slightly short friend; her short light brown hair was violently
whipping around her head. Her light blue eyes were practically glowing. What painting, I asked in
submitance because I knew she wouldn t give up. The Mona Lisa, you probably haven t heard of it,
Melodie said disappointedly. Melodie worked at the cafГ© next to the famous Louvre museum, so
naturally she would be the first on to hear about it. It s the painting by Leonardo Da Vinci with the
woman on the dreary background and she s kind of smiling, She explained excitedly. I looked at
Analysis Of The Bull Moose By Alden Nowlan
The evolution of modern medicine and technology are increasing the average lifespan causing an
increase in populations which increases the demand for resources. Particularly impacting animals
by destroying forests and food sources essential to survive causing animals to patrol areas once
believed to be wilderness. This situation occurs in The Bull Moose by Alden Nowlan, the moose
after traveling stumbles upon a farm, experiencing fatigue the moose rests. While resting, the
townspeople gazed upon him and interact with him like a domesticated animal. As the moose
stands its ground, the officer takes aim and fire his rifle. Also in Bear 71 directed by Jeremy
straightened and lifted his horns then he roared scaring the townspeople resulting in his death
(Nowlan 66). Susan Marshall believes this was the moose s final stand, the moose believing
these action displayed by townspeople actions were to tame, ridicule or control it (77). The
moose interpreted these actions and begins to reassert itself displaying his strength (Marshall,77).
The townspeople react to his action and let fear conquer them, believing the animal is a threat
and firing a rifle killing the moose (Marshall,77). Also, David Fraser would argue that the
townspeople would have no practical ethics towards animals. Fraser explains in his philosophical
article on how humans impact animals into four sections. The townspeople broke section number
three Causing direct but unintended harm to animals (Fraser,1). Both actions performed by the
townspeople led to the animal feeling in danger, forcing the animal to stand its ground causing its
unnecessary death. While she is scavenging for food with her cubs on the railway she sees the
train, using her instincts she roared and charged at the train (Bear 71,3). Adding her to the statistic,
since 2000... 17 grizzly bears have been killed in the Bow Valley due to railway failure (Bear 71,
3). Ultimately knowing the outcome prior due to the statistics, the conductor should have stopped
the train when he saw the bear with her cubs. Understanding that bears will protect their cubs. In
The Art of War Analysis
The Art of War Analysis The Art of War was one of our world s first written documents that dealt
with militaristic strategies and advancements. The book was written by a Chinese military leader
named Sun Tzu, who commanded and analyzed his military over the Warring States Period of
China. Sun Tzu produced this text in an attempt to provide future militaryadvantages for the
Chinese, but The Art of War s ideas eventually spread to neighboring civilizations and empires. The
ideas and facts expressed in Sun Tzu s writings proved effective as military groups became more
powerful through the writings. Throughout The Art of War, Sun Tzu expressed his views and
tactics primarily in moral ethics, intelligence, environmental tactics, and... Show more content on
Fighting in one s homeland will lead to better conditions for the army that originated in that area
because they know of the environment and what it takes to survive there. Sun Tzu explains his
opinions of military tactics on six types of terrain and all of them easily gave the best advantages
to the military that used them. The last topic that Sun Tzu took great pride in was military
leadership. Since Sun Tzu was a general, he knew how to run an army to its best conditions with
a minimal amount of casualties. During the text, Sun Tzu states, Now the general is the pillar of
the state; if the pillar has mastered all points of war, the state will be strong; if the pillar is
defective, the state will be week. (p. #1) Tzu is using the general s leadership as a supporting
structure to the whole empire or civilization. If the military leader is dysfunctional, then the
whole state or empire will be dysfunctional as well. The Art of War also states, The masterful
leader cultivates the moral law, and strictly adheres to proper methods and discipline; thus it is
his power to control success. (p. #1) The leader must also have great morals in order to run a great
military and these morals by which the leader lives by will serve as models for the civilization. A
great military starts with a great leader, and
Speech On Racism In Sports
Without a doubt, we look at athletes today and from the past as if they are larger than life
individuals. They show their personality through talent no matter what they play; some are better
than others, for example some can kick or throw. However, at the end of the day they all have a
different voice and a different story. People expect them to turn a blind eye to everyday events
because of their status. People think of athletes as celebrities, they say they do not go through the
same struggles as everyday people. That statement is far from the truth when it pertains to the issue
of racism. Racism has been an unresolved problem for years whether it is in sports or athletes
speaking for what they believe. Racism has had a big impact on sports such as Germany hosting the
olympics and cheating, N.B.A. owners thinking they rule over their players, and the hidden
discrimination that happens in locker rooms. Many times athletes have stood up for what they
believed just to be shot down. Nowhere in their contracts does it state that because they are
professionals that they must compromise their freedom of speech. Whether it be refusing to meet
with the president, speaking out on racial injustices, or not standing for the national anthem, athletes
have a strong voice in the fight against discrimination and other traumatic events. The fight for
equality in sports and throughout America is a process that includes multiple organizations, the
reaction of authority figures, and
This led us to a total cuts of $862.0 million, equaled to 13.6 percent of the revenue that
Pennsylvania school districts gain from the state budget in2010 2011. Moreover, the decline in
пѓ State fund cuts to the utmost disadvantaged districts averaged more than three times the
пѓ The fraction of schoolchildren to teachers amplified more amongst the localities with greater
In the Coral Sea of Queensland, Australia, the Great Barrier Reef covers the shore. It begins at the tip of Cape York Peninsula in the north and continues down to Bundaberg in the south. It is called The Great Barrier Reef because it creates a border between the coast and the Pacific Ocean. Having an area of about 344,400 km, it is monumental.   • 3. `` Bohemian Rhapsody `` By Freddie Mercury Anyone who has ever experienced emotional anguish, that has had the potential to ruin their life, may find peace by the end of Bohemian Rhapsody. This song was written by an artist who felt a great deal of pain. He expresses his emotions throughout the song, and at the end realizes that all the pain he was dealt shouldn t matter to him. Bohemian Rhapsodywas written by Freddie Mercuryand performed by a British rock band named Queenin 1975. It is a six minute suite divided into multiple sections without a refrain. There is an intro, a ballad segment, an operatic passage, a hard rock part, and a reflective coda. Bohemian Rhapsody consist of many emotional tones and imagery that I can relate to. The lyrics gave me a sense of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He continues by apologizing to her saying, Didn t mean to make you cry./ If I m not back again this time tomorrow/ Carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters (17 19). He is explaining to her that he killed off the heterosexual man he once was and apologizes to his mother about his sexuality. If he is still homosexual in later times, he tells his mother to continue on with life as if he was never gay. The depressing tone and choice of lyrics helped me connect with these stanzas in a more literal sense. Whenever I listen to or read the lyrics, the imagery I see is me killing a man for the first time in combat. I see a twenty year old version of me becoming an alcoholic to drown out the pain and misery. And lastly, I see my mother crying because she feels as if she failed me; when in reality it was me who was failing. I tried to explain to my mother that PTSD doesn t affect me and that she should just continue viewing me as I was before the Marine Corps. The operatic passage of this song made me feel excitement and anxiety due to the singers singing in a frantic tone. I didn t feel those feelings in the lyrics without the accompany of the music. By focusing specifically on the lyrics and analyzing them word by word, I was able to feel the excitement and anxiety of my first firefight. Lines 28 through 31 really went hand in hand with when my squad took ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Animal Performers Research Paper The Truth Behind Animal Performers If someone was repeatedly hit, stabbed and whipped for the sake of entertainment, would we sit and watch? If someone was snatched from his family and home, for the sake of entertainment, would we promote it? If someone s well being, happiness and health was ignored for the sake of entertainment, would we allow it? These are the conditions thousands of animals have to endure everyday. If they aren t acceptable for humans, they aren t acceptable for animals. While many may believe animals in entertainment attractions are well taken care of, they are abused daily and are forced to perform. On August 20, 1994, Tyke the female circuselephant snapped from many years of abuse. During a live performance, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In their study, they found that two to four million visiting tourists financially supported attractions that contribute to large scale animal abuse. Also, they discovered that 80 percent of TripAdvisor reviewers did not realize that the attractions were not animal friendly (Bale 2015). Only wildlife sanctuaries, involving 1,500 13,000 animals, were inclined to have positive effects on the animals welfare. On the contrary, the welfare of 230,00 to 550,000 animals kept at other attractions were negatively affected ( Global Scale 2015). However, it is possible for these depressing numbers of abuse to decrease. If more of us are aware of the exploitation of entertainment animals, we can either advocate for better treatment or shun such entertainment. This could cause the demand for such shows to decrease. It would also motivate show owners to stop using animals, eliminating unfair treatment for thousands of living ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. People Corrupt Power In George Orwell s Animal Farm And... William Gaddis once said Power doesn t corrupt people, People corrupt power In Animal Farm and Mouseland both of the animals who have the power take over and create corrupt and unequal societies. This causes the societies to fall under the rules of greedy and selfish leaders. The authors of Animal Farm and Mouseland use the narrative techniques of characterization and conflict to illustrate messages about how power can destroy societies and take away the equality in the society. First, in Animal Farm and Mouseland the authors use characterization to show how power can destroy societies and can take away the equality that is in the society. For example, in Animal Farm, George Orwell uses the pigs as a way to show the different levels of importance. It shows how the other animals are always below the pigs. On pages 35 and 36 it states You do not imagine, I hope, that we pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and privilege? Many of us actually dislike milk and apples. I dislike them myself. Our sole object in taking these things is to preserve our health. Milk and apples (this had been proven by science, comrades) contain substances absolutely necessary to the well being of a pig. We pigs are brainworkers. Orwell uses the words absolutely necessary to the well being of a pig making it seem the most important to the pigs and no other animals.This means that the pigs started to take the things they wanted and decided they were the ones who had all of the power. This shows that the power they created could give them more equal rights than the others. In a similar ways Tommy Douglasuses the cats to show how the other animals are below them and the cats are the ones who have power.In paragraph 3 of Mouseland it states A government made up of big, fat, black cats. Douglas states fat, black, cats. characterizing the cats are lazy and useless. This means that in Mouseland there was a society run by animals who didn t do what they needed and they were lazy. This shows that just because of the way the cats are characterized they aren t good leaders and they have the power. This shows that in Animal Farm and Mouseland the people in power were characterized as greedy and selfish, but came off to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
Review Order Code RS22814 February 21, 2008 FDA Fast Track and Priority Review Programs Susan Thaul Specialist in Drug Safety and Effectiveness Domestic Social Policy Division Summary By statutory requirements and by regulation, guidance, and practice, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) works with several overlapping yet distinct programs to get to market quickly new drug and biological products that address unmet needs. FDA most frequently uses three mechanisms for that purpose: Accelerated Approval, Fast Track, and Priority Review. The first two affect the development process before a sponsor submits a marketing application. Accelerated Approval allows surrogate endpoints in trials to demonstrate effectiveness and is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 105 115) directed the Secretary to create a mechanism whereby FDA could designate as Fast Track certain products that met two criteria. First, the product must concern a serious or life threatening condition; second, it has to have the potential to address an unmet medical need. Once FDA grants a Fast Track designation, it encourages the manufacturer to meet with the agency to discuss development plans and strategies before the formal submission of an NDA /BLA. The early interaction can help clarify elements of clinical study design and presentation whose absence at NDA/BLA submission could delay approval decisions. However, FDA makes similar interactions available to any sponsor who seeks FDA consultation throughout the stages of drug development. A unique option within Fast Track is the opportunity to submit sections of an NDA/BLA to FDA as they are ready, rather than the standard requirement to submit a complete application at one time.4 2 Other options fit very limited situations and support shorter times from idea to approved public use. The Animal Efficacy Rule (21 CFR 314 Subpart I and 21 CFR 601 Subpart H) allows submission of data from animal studies of effectiveness as evidence to support applications of certain new products when adequate and well controlled clinical studies in humans cannot be ethically conducted and field efficacy studies are not feasible.   • 7. The Severity Of De-Icing In Airports In winter, the snow can be a hassle but the ice is what can be more challenging. Imagine how challenging it can be for an airport when dealing with the ice on not only the tarmacs but the planes as well. Airports have been using the same de icing method for a while now, but it is not the most efficient way out there, nor is it the cheapest. There are a few reasons why aircrafts must be de iced before take off in order to ensure that the aircraft is safe to fly. The current solution to de ice an aircraft is inefficient and rather expensive, while there is a much better way to complete the process. Who wouldn t want their airport to run smoother and have flights in and out quicker? De Icing an aeroplane is tedious. Just ask any passenger stuck... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is one of the top entry points to North America, and with that being said, one would assume they will need to be efficient, cost effective, and fast in almost everything that they do; which they are. Right down to the small detail that often goes unnoticed of de icing an aircraft. At JFK they have bought into a new system, a much better system. This system uses infrared technology to heat the airplane before takeoff, Designed and built by Radiant Aviation Services, a US based wholly owned subsidiary of the Canadian company Radiant Energy Corporation, the patented InfraTek system relies almost entirely on IR, which lies just to the right of the visible spectrum, to deice aircraft (In text citation author year). The process is quite simple, taxi the airplane to what seems to be a big open hanger, and sit there for a little bit until they are cleared for takeoff and the ice has melted. The program has had times noted of ranging between 28 minutes to 43 minutes for a full block, which is the time from brakes on the brake off (boarding to takeoff). Comparing that to the hour or hour and a half it takes to de ice a plane in the conventional way, this seems like a better system already just based on the amount of time it takes to do the job. Toronto Pearson has rivalled that by building a massive de icing facility where they can de ice 11 planes at once, and have another 11 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
I would also work with individuals who want to get the information out to the public. There needs to be a portion of the organization who primarily deals with advertisements and contacting the government officials who could assist in making the organization prosper.   • 9. Compare And Contrast Greek Culture Vs American Culture 1. The Greeks had similarities and differences compared to traditional American s and our culture. Similar to Americans, Greeks were a very entertainment based culture. They had plays, music, and texts to pass their free time, all of which most Americans typically experience in a day. Cities and towns existed, with city states serving almost like today s capitals of each state. Farming played a big part in their culture, which is shared with America, as farming continues to be a trade that is necessary, no matter what age. A military existed to protect their society, like America has. Religion was relatively relaxed as a subject in Greece, where they didn t really think care too much about which gods or goddesses you worshiped a trait somewhat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Critical Examination of the Idle No More Movement In October of 2012, Bill C 45 was introduced into Ottawa by the Harper government. The bill is a 457 page document, containing over 64 amendments to a multitude of acts and regulations, including notable revisions to the Indian Act, the Navigable Waters Protection Act and the Environment Assessment Act. Bill C 45, later renamed the Jobs and Growth Act, was passed through government with minimal consultation from the Indigenous peoples of Canada, effectively rendering the peoples voice silent and proving the neglect and mistreatment of the Indigenous peoples by the government of Canada. Shortly after these amendments were introduced, four women from Saskatchewan began communicating via social media to discuss Bill C 45. The main concern these women had were if the bill was going to further oppress Indigenous rights and destroy environmental lands across Canada. A movement was formed in an attempt to stop the government from introducing more legislation that will erode Indigenous rights. On November 10, 2012, an event was organized to raise awareness regarding this bill. The movement was to be known as the Idle No More movement. This paper will critically examine and analyze the Idle No More movement and Bill C 45 from three distinct known theoretical political discourses Neoliberal Capitalism, Decolonizing Eco Anarchism and Social Liberal Feminism and from perspective that I hold, an Eco Radical Feminist.   • 12. Battle Of The Somme Essay The Preliminary Bombardment Of The British Empire On The German Empire In The Battle of The Somme The Battle of the Somme, also known as The Somme Offensive, was a battle fought in the First World War by the allied forces headed by the British Empire in support of France against the German Empire on an approximate 30 kilometer front near the upper reaches of the Somme river in France. The Somme Offensive is attributed as starting on July 1st 1916 with an infantry attack and concluding on November 18th 1916 for a total of 141 days ending in an inconclusive stalemate leading to a war of attrition between both empires. Haig settled late on a plan with a five day artillery barrage leading to an infantry attack on June 29th. The artillery barrage was designed for the first two days to reduce the Germans wire defenses to create freedom of maneuver for the infantry across the no man s land. The last three days of the barrage would be used to reduce trenches, emplacements, strong points, and artillery pieces, as well as fire smoke and gas canisters to confuse the German forces about their intentions. Even with over 1,500 artillery pieces at his disposal this would not be enough to make enough of an effect on German defenses. Haig tasked his artillery to too many areas on the front wires and in depth along the 30 kilometer trench system. After the five day artillery bombardment a majority of wire was intact and many trenches and emplacements were still usable and manned. The plan would have had better results if Haig would have focused on the wire obstacles for the infantry attack and not try to remove all the trenches, emplacements and strong points by artillery. How can property management maintain a pet friendly community without alienating residents who don t have pets? Pet Screening, Policies, and Practices: A thorough screening process is the most important step in identifying responsible pet guardians. An inoculated pet, free of parasites, well trained, and on a leash is not likely to cause problems. For thorough screening, management can require a pet rental agreement addendum, copies of vet records, a copy of spay or neuter verification, and a dog training certificate with pet tenant applications. Any conscientious dog person is willing and prepared to pick up after their dog during walks. Accountable pet guardians are willing and eager to sign a pet rental agreement addendum that specifies cleaning up after their dogs. No resident will be happy stepping in dog poop, but someone without pets is far less likely to laugh it off or even tolerate it. A pet friendly residential community can have designated outdoor dog park areas separate from common community areas. Dispensers with poop bags, placed throughout the property, will remind dog residents of their cleanup responsibilities and will assure other residence that dog cleanup is expected. Allowing cats outdoors can alienate community residents. Cats usually don t frequent dog parks, yet they do poop. Most resident would prefer not to have their garden turned into a litter box or cats peeing in their planters. Unwanted litters of kittens form cat colonies create a myriad of health issues and resident alienation. If management only accepts indoor cats, these problems can be avoided.   • 14. Brand Personality And Infosys Brand Personality Brand personality is the way a brand speaks and behaves. It means assigning human personality traits/characteristics to a brand so as to achieve differentiation. These characteristics signify brand behaviour through both individuals representing the brand (i.e. it s employees) as well as through advertising, packaging, etc. When brand image or brand identity is expressed in terms of human traits, it is called brand personality. For instance Allen Solley brand speaks the personality and makes the individual who wears it stand apart from the crowd. Infosys represents uniqueness, value, and intellectualism. Case 9.2 Bilateral or Unilateral Contract: In the case of Bickham v Washington Bank Trust Company, a distinction must be made as to what type of contract has been made if any. In a unilateral contract is also called a Promise for an Act (Cheeseman, 2013). The meaning of this is that an act must be completed in order for there to be a contract. An example of this is if someone was to promise to pay a set amount if a second party painted a wall. If the wall is not painted then the contract does not happen. The government intervenes within the market place because they believe they know what is best for our economy. They attempt to address what is inefficient within the market place in order to create a more efficient economy. There are many scenarios of government intervention within the market place. Three great examples of when the government intervened within the market place was the first income taxand Internal Revenue Act in 1862, the Specie Resumption Act during the Panic of 1873, and the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882. The first example of government intervention in the market place occurred during the American Civil War. In 1862, the government realized that they would need a bit more revenue coming in to cover the costs of the Civil War. Because of this, President Abraham Lincolnimplemented a tax on household income. A three percent tax was placed on incomes within the range of $600 and $10,000. A five percent tax was placed on incomes more than $10,000. However, as the war kept dragging on, the government realized that this income tax was not going to be enough to cover the expenses of the war. This region suffers serious soil erosion problems. Today only about 1 2% of its original forest covers remains. Only about 5% remain of the rich forests of the coastal region, most of which have been destroyed in the last 50 years by logging, agroindustrial monocultures (banana, cacao, coffee, African palm) and colonization. Jean Piaget proposed his theory of cognitive development in his book The Origins of Intelligence in Children (1952). In this theory, he divided cognitive development into a series of stages and periods based on the fundamental assumption that children are mentally active from the moment of birth, a controversial concept at the time since it was previously believed that until a child could communicate that they were not mentally active. His theory can be described as constructivist, meaning that children construct knowledge themselves in response to their experiences. He based his theory primarily on interactions with his own children and additional interviews with other children yet has stood the test of time, remaining the most well known cognitive developmental theory, encompassing a diverse range of topics within children s development from the first days of infancy through to adolescence. Piaget argued that cognitive development involves both continuities and discontinuities. The three main sources of continuity are vital in driving development and work together from birth. The first process, assimilation, occurs when children integrate new information into their current knowledge (Santrock and Yussen, 1978). Secondly, accommodation is when children adjust to new information and enhance their current knowledge in response to new experiences, as defined by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
Given the similarities existed in the MEA power grid and motor controlled thermal storage, it is deemed feasible to implement the VSM concept in this research. A high level description is shown in Fig. 3. For a synchronous machine in the rotating reference frame, the d q voltage and current relationship is shown in (1a b), where vg is the grid voltage, R is the stator resistance, M is the magnetizing, and Ld = Lq = L is assumed.   • 35. Character Analysis Of Travel With Steinbeck Charles le Chien; a bleu gentleman poodle who prefers a negotiation over any conflict. Born in Paris, France, Charley was trained and eventually brought into Steinbeck s life. These companions later travel around America while trying to answer the question What are Americans like today? With only his necessities and Charley, Steinbeck began his long, overwhelming journey across America. In Travels with Charley, Steinbeck is greatly influenced by Charley and his actions. As Steinbeck traveled to Long Island, his relationship with Charley was slowly introduced as they headed for Niagara Falls. Charley caught it from me, but he is a gallant dog. He came into the bathroom and that old fool played with the plastic bath mat like a puppy. What strength of character, what a friend! (Steinbeck 47). From this excerpt, we can understand that Steinbeck sees Charley not only as a dog, but as his friend. He seems to admire Charley s sense of character, as it lights up the environment around him. The quality of their friendship is important throughout the first section of this novel because it will indicate how the rest of their journey will layout, especially during demanding times. From the first example, we can infer that Charley s character towards Steinbeck comforts him. The traits that the author sees in Charley helps him to feel accompanied rather than lonely during his travels. In establishing contact with strange people, Charley is my ambassador... A child can do the same thing, but a dog is better. (Steinbeck 65). From this line, Charley is described as one who can do things a human might do for Steinbeck, but of better quality. Steinbeck suggests that his companion is also his ambassador, making it appear that Charley s actions directly affect the author s reactions. From both examples in context, we can know that Charley s basic characteristics lay a basis for Steinbeck and how he interacts with people. This might affect his conversation habits, or the way that Steinbeck sees America as a whole. On page 85, Steinbeck writes I would have to retrace my way at least twenty miles, find a vet, have Charley vaccinated, and then return. Ninety Five Theses In this essay i m going to be writing about the ninety five theses.The Ninety Five Theses question the Catholic Church s practice of selling indulgences and view skeptically the notion that a papal pardon rather than penance or genuine contrition can achieve forgiveness of sins. Luther argued that Christians were being falsely told that they could obtain absolution for souls in purgatory by buying indulgences. All Saints Church in Wittenberg, Saxony in the Holy Roman Empire, locally known as the Castle Church Schlosskirche, where the Ninety Five Theses famously appeared, held one of Europe s largest collections of holy relics. Albert of Mainz, the Archbishop of Mainz in Germany, had borrowed heavily to pay for his high church rank and was deeply in debt. Even though Luther s prince, Frederick III, and the prince of the neighboring territory, George, Duke of Saxony, forbade the sale thereof in their respective lands, people in Wittenberg traveled to purchase them. When these people came to confession, they presented their plenary indulgences for which they paid, claiming they no longer had to repent of their sins, since the document promised to forgive all their sins. Luther was outraged that they had paid money for what was theirs by right as a free gift from God. He felt compelled to expose the fraud that was being sold to the people.   • 44. Importance Of Purification Of Water Essay Purification of Water to Save Humanity Thought water is the other name of life, more than billion people around the world cannot drink clean water. Some of them used to walk for milieus just to fetch water for themselves and their families. In some places where the supply of water is enough, it is found most of the time the water is polluted with virus and bacteria which can form deadly diseases. Not only in the undeveloped countries but also in developing countries water sources are polluted sometimes. And there s another group that lacks access to abundant, safe, clean drinking water: astronauts. As astronauts have to take things what they need and they have to reuse and recycle every dewdrop of water. On the International Space Station, where U.S. Astronaut Scott Kelly recently spent a year in orbit, specialized technology developed by NASA collects every bit of moisture, including sweat and urine, and turns it into drinkable water Filtration is the only solution. As all filters are not equal depending on the expenditure some of them can only drain out dirt and low level bacteria which are harmful mostly for young children s as the water used to carry a dangerous virus. Luckily the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) scientists come forward with their best water filtering technology. In 2000, Florida based Argon ide was working with nanomaterials and discovered its Nanoceramic fibers had properties that made them excellent as water filters. The main benefit to the nanofibers was their unusually strong bio adhesively meaning particles, including viruses and bacteria, were easily attracted to the fibers. When water passed through a filter woven of the fibers, these particles flocked to the fibers and got stuck there, leaving virus and bacteria free water on the other side. NASA rewarded the company. The Nanoceramic fibers produce an electropositive charge when water flows through them. Many impurities carry a slight negative charge and are absorbed by the filter, explained Tom Smokoff, founder of Water Pure Technologies. Some filters were designed by using membranes with small pores so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
This occurs across the entire spectrum of most all environments with dynamics natures; within society, within religion, and within science. More specifically, both the study and observation of consciousness and the scientific processes allocated towards those ends have changed profoundly over time. It can also be observed that the evolution of the study of consciousness parallels the development of the scientific method, to the extent that an evaluation of the former can indicate the developmental position of the latter. This is clearly evidenced throughout Miller s essay on the former topic, and the essay itself can be interpreted as a chronology of the latter topic when approaching it from this viewpoint. The chief elements that serve towards this end indicating the development of theories on consciousness and the scientific processes behind them are societal and religious pressures, two elements that are exceedingly prevalent in Miller s work. Religion and society had large influences on the rate of development and, consequentially, the quality of early theories of consciousness, in effect improving the former while markedly diminishing the latter. Within the essay, there were many examples of societal pressures driving the likes of Mesmer, Baron Dupotet, Elliotson and their historic counterparts into hurried and less than rational and less than scientific studies and conclusions. They show their personality through talent no matter what they play; some are better than others, for example some can kick or throw. However, at the end of the day they all have a different voice and a different story. People expect them to turn a blind eye to everyday events because of their status. People think of athletes as celebrities, they say they do not go through the same struggles as everyday people. That statement is far from the truth when it pertains to the issue of racism. Racism has been an unresolved problem for years whether it is in sports or athletes speaking for what they believe. Racism has had a big impact on sports such as Germany hosting the olympics and cheating, N.B.A. owners thinking they rule over their players, and the hidden discrimination that happens in locker rooms. Many times athletes have stood up for what they believed just to be shot down. Nowhere in their contracts does it state that because they are professionals that they must compromise their freedom of speech.
