With more than $55 million in total charitable giving since our inception in 1998 - tops among all professional sports franchises in Arizona - I often talk about community impact being our business, but it goes well past that for both the D-backs and the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation as we celebrate our 20th anniversary.
More importantly, it is also our responsibility and proudly one that continues to grow annually.
The collaboration and donations of the D-backs, our Foundation Board, corporate partners, and our wonderful fans have empowered individuals, groups and organizations throughout the state with the all-around tools, resources and efforts to help them see their respective visions become reality, through everything from facility upgrades and scholarships to equipment donations and program grants.

The Exchange Club of Fort Bend is making plans for its sixth annual Duck Golf Classic to be held on Monday, October 20, 2014. The success of this event is credited largely to our sponsors, who lend their names and financial support to the event.
The money we raise each year goes to support the Fort Bend County community, and this year’s goal to raise $50,000 dollars will help our club continue its programs in the area of Prevention of Child Abuse, Americanism, Youth, and Community Service.

Narrated Business Proposal for the Philadelphia Eaglescamrynascott12
Slide 1:
Welcome, and thank you for joining me today. We will explore a strategic proposal to enhance parking and traffic management at Lincoln Financial Field, aiming to improve the overall fan experience and operational efficiency. This comprehensive plan addresses existing challenges and leverages innovative solutions to create a smoother and more enjoyable experience for our fans.
Slide 2:
Picture this: It’s a crisp fall afternoon, driving towards Lincoln Financial Field. The atmosphere is electric—tailgaters grilling, fans in Eagles jerseys creating a sea of green and white. The air buzzes with camaraderie and anticipation. You park, join the throng, and make your way to your seat. The stadium roars as the Eagles take the field, sending chills down your spine. Each play is a thrilling dance of strategy and skill. This is what being an Eagles fan is all about—the joy, the pride, and the shared experience.
Slide 3:
But now, the day is marred by frustration. The excitement wanes as you struggle to find a parking spot. The congestion is overwhelming, and tempers flare. The delays mean you miss the pre-game excitement, the tailgate camaraderie, and even the opening kick-off. After the game, the joy of victory or the shared solace of defeat is overshadowed by the stress of navigating out of the parking lot. The gridlock, honking horns, and endless waiting drain the energy and joy from what should have been an unforgettable experience.
Our proposal aims to eliminate these frustrations, ensuring that from arrival to departure, your experience is extraordinary. Efficient parking and smooth traffic flow are key to maintaining the high spirits and excitement that make game days special.
Slide 4:
The Philadelphia Eagles are not just a premier NFL team; they are an integral part of the community, hosting games, concerts, and various events at Lincoln Financial Field. Our state-of-the-art stadium is designed to provide a world-class experience for every attendee. Whether it's the thrill of game day, the excitement of a live concert, or the camaraderie of community events, we pride ourselves on delivering a fan-first experience and maintaining operational excellence across all our activities. Our commitment to our fans and community is unwavering, and we continuously strive to enhance every aspect of their experience, ensuring they leave with unforgettable memories.
Slide 5:
Recent trends show an increasing demand for efficient event logistics. Our customer feedback has consistently highlighted frustrations with parking and traffic. Surveys indicate that a significant number of fans are dissatisfied with the current parking situation. Comparisons with other venues like Citizens Bank Park and Wells Fargo Center reveal that we lag in terms of parking efficiency and convenience. These insights underscore the urgent need for innovation to meet and exceed fan expectations.

1. BIG CEDAR NEWS – MAY 2016
WELCOME TO OUR NEW MEMBERS
Our very popular membership special
continues to bring new faces to our club. A
strong membership base is the key to keeping
our club healthy. Please make every effort to
make our new members feel welcome and
encourage them to participate in club activities.
THANKS TO OUR VOLUNTEER
CLEAN-UP CREW
That ice storm that hit us in late March left quite
a mess behind. Luckily, a great group of
volunteers got together over a two-day period
to clean things up. Other members helped get
the clubhouse spick and span for the wine and
cheese and looked after some other pre-
opening tasks.
Our thanks go to Theo Griffin, Gary Monette,
Rod Chapman, Bruce Spiers, Don Bathgate,
Jeff Wood, Bob Therault, and Bill Docherty.
BIG CEDAR AT SUMMERFEST
For the first time, Big Cedar will have a booth
at the Innisfil Summerfest, which will run June
10-12 at Innisfil Beach Park.
We will use this event to help promote our club
and continue to build our membership base –
something that is essential to our financial
health.
Your club does need volunteers however to
work the booth – answering questions, giving
out prizes, helping to run contests, etc. The
booth will operate during the following hours:
Friday - 5 PM until dusk, Saturday – 10 AM
until dusk, and Sunday – 10 AM until 5 PM.
Please have a look at your schedules and see
if you can spare a couple of hours during any
of those periods. You can of course stick
around to see the sights, enjoy the music and
take the kids to the rides.
Jeff Mackie is leading this initiative. If you can
help out, please either speak to Jeff directly or
pass it on to Mike and any of the Board
members.
CAPTAIN’S CORNER – BOB THERAULT
Welcome to the 2016 season! No doubt when
you read this, you will have played a number of
rounds. Roberta and I are honoured to be re-
appointed as your club captains! Together, we
will do our best to keep the tournaments
running smoothly and to promote the game of
golf at Big Cedar.
Big Cedar operates several tournaments that
are open only to club members. We have
many members who are new to the club and
may not be fully aware of how these
tournaments operate and how they can
participate.
Sign-up sheets are posted on the bulletin
board. All of the events use handicap ratings
and everyone can participate and have a
chance to win.
Here is a brief description of the events:
2. Spring /Fall Shootout
These are elimination events grouped by
handicap. Up to ten players tee off the on the
first hole and one player is eliminated on each
hole. When they get to the final tee box, two
players remain standing to compete for the
title. The entry fee is $10 and the resulting pot
goes to the winner.
Our 2016 spring shootout was held on May 7.
In the men’s competition, Wayne Crawford,
Tom Mills and John Stam took the A, B, and C
groups respectively while Lauralee Moffat
prevailed among the ladies.
Our fall shootout is slated for October 8 – be
sure to mark it down on your schedule!
President’s Cup
The President’s Cup is a match-play event that
dates all the way back to 1937!
Members who sign up for this competition are
grouped according to their handicaps. The
captains create brackets that match you with
another golfer. The two people then negotiate
a time to complete their match-play game prior
to a set date.
The winner moves on to the next bracket. If
you lose your first game, you go to a
consolation round. After that point however,
only winners progress further.
It generally takes four games to progress
through to a winner and the process extends
through the summer. Sign-up for the event
closes on June 1.
Big Cedar Classic
The Big Cedar Classic is a long-standing
tradition. This two-day event dates back over
seventy years and will run this year on July 2-3.
Players of all skill levels participate and have a
chance to take home that coveted net winner
title!
Both days use a shotgun start so that you will
know your time commitment at sign-up. The
cost is only $10 and if you enjoy playing for
skins, you can throw in an additional $5.
The club supplies lunch on Saturday. On
Sunday, the club supplies the meat but we ask
the ladies to bring a salad or desert. Men are
asked to bring a prize on Sunday.
Be sure to keep an eye open on the bulletin
board to sign up for this fun event!
Big Cedar Club Championship
Like the Classic, the Club Championship also
has a long tradition at Big Cedar. It is a one-
day event that will take place on July 23.
One difference from the Classic is that there
are separate categories for seniors and juniors.
Team Match Play
This is a very popular team event that only
started a few years ago. We often refer to it as
our “Ryder Cup”! It originally was a challenge
between Big Cedar and Harbourview. It went
over so well that we decided to make it an in-
house tournament that we hold twice per year.
The captains will assign you to either the blue
team or the red team – and you are expected
to wear matching shirts! They will then set you
up with another foursome for match play. For
the first six holes, you play alternate shot, the
middle six is best ball, and the final six is
scramble.
Our first match-play event will be on July 9 and
the second one will be August 13. We call the
August one our Steak and Beans tournament.
The name comes from the prizes – winners get
a steak supper while the runner-ups get beans!
These events are a lot of fun and very popular.
It fills up fast - be sure to get your name down
early on the sign-up sheet. The cost is only
$10!
Two Person Scramble
This handicapped tournament generally runs in
the fall although we have not yet set a date for
3. this year. Your also have the option to play for
skins.
Big Cedar is eighty-five years old this year and
we have a great history. The late Gord Mitchell
put together an interesting overview. Please
ask myself, Mike or Darryl if you are interested
in getting a copy (we will also put one on our
website further down the road).
Thanks to Roy Bridge for helping me to get the
ages for a couple of tournaments, and to Mary
Saint for providing her insight.
Have a great year on the links. I look forward
to seeing you out there. Welcome to our newer
members. If you have any questions, just ask
any staff member and they will point you in the
right direction!
RIP Gord.
DONATIONS FROM LEAGUES
Our Thursday Senior’s and Wednesday Men's
leagues once again provided generous
donations to the club in 2015.
How did we use those funds? You have likely
noticed that we replaced those clunky old towel
dispensers in our washrooms with modern hot-
air dryers.
These high-end units effectively dry your hands
in about twelve seconds. In addition to saving
about $500 per year in paper towels, they help
keep the washrooms tidy and avoid the
nuisance of jammed dispensers. Thanks to
Jeff Mackie and Don Gillespie for their work in
installing them.
Thanks again to the league organizers and the
league membership for their support.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Big Cedar held its annual general meeting of
shareholders on February 21. Thirty-three
shareholders attended.
Current Board members are now Doug
Warrington (President), Jeff Mackie (Vice-
President), Terry Haviland (Treasurer), Darryl
Lynch (Secretary), Bill Docherty (Outside
Chair), Don Gillespie (Inside Chair), Shelley
McKee, and Don Bathgate.
Roberta Anderson and Bob Therault were also
re-appointed as club captains.
NEW WEBSITE
Have a look at our new website. It has the
same address as the old one but uses a design
that makes it much easier for us to post up-to-
date information.
It will remain a work-in-progress for a little while
but if you have any suggestions, please pass
them on to Mike or any of the directors.
LADIES JUNE DAYS
During June, a group of our ladies represent
Big Cedar in the Huronia District Golf
Association June Days. These will take place
on consecutive Thursdays (June 2, 9, 16, and
23) at four different courses - Horseshoe,
Marlwood, Shelbourne, and Hawkridge.
The $65 - $75 cost includes a cart and lunch.
If you are interested, please approach Shelley
McKee for more information.
REMEMBER TO FIX THOSE BALL MARKS
Sometimes it’s not a bad idea to repeat a
message - please remember to fix those ball
marks so that our greens stay playable and
attractive.
Using a proper ball mark repair tool, insert the
prongs at the edge of the depression and
gently push the edge of the ball mark toward
the center. Please don’t insert the tool beneath
the center of the crater and use it as a lever to
push the bottom of the ball mark back up even
with the surface. This upward action only tears
the roots and kills the grass.
