Imagine being given a brand new book. Its unblemished cover is crisp and the faint
smell of new paper is unmistakable. The cover is inviting, even intriguing, and your
mind dances with what could be inside. You eagerly open it, and the book is written
in Egyptian hieroglyphics. You’d be lost. Everyday special education students with
learning disabilities find themselves in a middle school world that is daunting and
inaccessible.
The iPad can help. Its accessibility features mean any student at any level can engage
in an educational dialog. It closes the feedback loop through engaging apps that
constantly adjust to the unique needs of every student. It is an eternally patient tutor,
ready to meet each student exactly where she is every time. It frees up the time spent
combing endless books and countless paper copies stuffed in old folders and allows
a teacher to instantly differentiate to 12 students simultaneously and accurately.
Students feel empowered not only by the technology in their hands but also by the
digital skills that will prepare them for college and careers in a rapidly changing
world. Booker T, unique from other institutions, would provide our neediest students
with a powerful learning tool. This elevated learning experience has potential to
shape their lives for the better and allow BTW to lead on the forefront of a nascent
educational evolution.

This app gets gives teachers all of
the classroom workflow tools they
need to connect with their students
on iPads. Teachers can share their

allows students to connect to the
teacher iPad. Students can present

WHY THIS STORAGE?
The larger Otterbox protective
cases mean that we need a larger
enclosure to store and charge our
iPads. Also, the self-contained
rooms are half the size of a normal
classroom and lack the space for a
full-sized cart. These cabinets could
be installed in the existing
bookcases in each classroom and
allow the iPads to be locked and
charged safely while not in use.
