School system
School year
The school year usually starts in spain around the 10 th September and finishes
the third week of June.
We have three breaks throughout the school year Christmas, easter, summer
and a few of bank holidays.
Types of school
In our country, there are three different types of school:
1. Public school 2. A kind of a private schools
that are public-funded
3. Private school
It is compulsory for ages between 5 and 16.
Schooling is divided into four stages:
1. Nursery school, from the ages of 3 to 5. (It is not compulsory)
2. Primary school, from the ages of 6 to 11.
3. Secondary school, from the ages of 12 to 16.
4. Leaving years or Vocational school, from the ages of 16 to 18. ( It is
not compulsory)
