2. The first shot of The Notebook is a wide shot and in the shot it is the sun rising
indicating that it is early morning. Also in the shot is a tree in the left hand side.
This shot is effective because it shows the depth of the film and it automatically
gives the audience an idea of genre the film is and what they could be
expecting. The soundtrack to the film is a piano concerto and it gives us a clue
that the film is going to be a sad one because of the music.
3. This next shot is also a wide shot and it is effective because it adds a deep
emotion towards the film because it has a big rising sun in the background and a
man rowing past it. The reflection of the sun adds more of an effect because it
creates more of an romantic scene.
4. This is a medium long shot. This shot is
effective because it also gives a clue to
what kind of genre this film is going to
be and it’s adds a sad emotion towards
the film. The most effective thing in this
shot is that it is dark and you don’t see
much which could be a clue that could
be given towards the film itself.
5. This is also a medium long shot
and it captures it’s surroundings
because you can only see the
landscapes such as tree’s, land etc.
This shot is effective because it’s
quite deep and it could be
meaningful. This shot also fades in
which adds to the meaningfulness
of it.
6. These two shots are similar because they’re both wide shots. The effects of
both shots is that it is still giving clues to the film and that there are both in
the same colour scheme. In both of the shots, it includes silhouettes and it
culd create a heart warming emotion that the audience could relate to.
7. This shot is an over the shoulder shot and it adds effect because the woman in the
shot is also the woman in the first scene. It also adds effect because she is over
looking on the birds that are flying towards her and it means that she could be in a
deep thought which could lead to a monologue.
8. This shot is a wide shot and in the shot there is a house with birds flying towards
it. This shot is effective because it’s the first building we see and it could mean
that, that house has a specific significance that could be highlighted throughout
the film.
