Southside Gardens Assisted Living is hosting its annual Lundi Gras Parade on February 12, 2018 and invites local businesses, schools, music groups, civic organizations, and elected leaders to participate. The parade is free to join and will take place on the facility's 5-acre property, with participants throwing beads and candy to residents from cars or by foot. Registering organizations will receive promotion through Southside Gardens' social media platforms. Those interested can contact Ramona or Maria by February 8th to sign up.

The Greater Lafayette Aging District meeting will feature a presentation on the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), which coordinates all health care and services to allow seniors to remain in their communities. The meeting will include a tour of the PACE facility in Lafayette. Non-perishable food donations will be collected at each meeting for the elderly transitioning to meal programs. The next meeting on March 1st will spotlight local businesses and organizations.

The St. Tammany Council on Aging (COAST) will hold two public meetings on November 8th and 13th to present and gather input on their Senior Services Goals and Objectives for fiscal years 2020-2023. Both meetings will be at 9:30 am, with the first at the Slidell COAST Activity Center and the second at the Covington COAST Activity Center. Interested parties, especially residents over 60, are invited to attend.
