The Cornerstone Group organized a trip to Ripley's Believe It or Not museum for underprivileged youth at Boys Town Central Florida. They raised funds through social media outreach, donations, and community events like a 5K run and restaurant spirit nights. While some fundraising events did not meet participation goals due to scheduling issues, the group ultimately raised over $1000 to pay for museum tickets and a barbecue for 15 youth. Both the client and team viewed the project as a success in providing a positive experience and role models for the youth.

Flexible, simple deployments with OpenStack-AnsibleMajor Hayden
I gave this talk at the OpenStack Austin Meetup on June 20, 2016. The talk covers the reasons why OpenStack-Ansible exists and the value that it brings for production OpenStack deployments.
This is a presentation that me and my fellow AmeriCorps members created to present to staff at our host site and to show to Washington Service Corp administration. It includes metrics of what we accomplished, personal stories, and reflections on the impact of the year of service on our lives and the work of United Way of King County. It also had some really amusing music selections which I could not figure out how to include in this version! The presentation was very well-received and really showcases the capacity-building value of AmeriCorps service.
Wellness G.I.F.T.S. Inc.is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that offers camping retreats to families who have a family member with developmental disabilities, living at home with their parents or caregivers. Respite, Recreation, and Rejuvenation are the three ‘R’s we strive to achieve. Our families enjoy a weekend camping resort experience in a same family friendly, atmosphere. Wellness G.I.F.T.S. Inc. provides a catered breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the families throughout the retreat. In the welcome bag that we give to families upon arriving are T-shirts that help our volunteers and staff (who also wear specific shirts) distinguish our campers from Hickory Hill Family Camping Resort campers.
Unlike many other camp programs, whose focus is primarily on the family member with a disability, Wellness G.I.F.T.S. Inc. focuses on the family unit. The idea is to take a holistic approach to strengthen families by offering education, respite, and networking opportunities. The connections and friends made during the family’s stay have a lasting positive influence when the family returns home. We understand that stronger families create stronger communities.

2. Boys Town of Central Florida's current
problems are raising funds to schedule and
hold events for the amount of children that
live in the homes throughout the year. With
over forty children living in the houses, Boys
Town heavily relies on donations to have
events for the children outside of their
grounds.
3. Plan and organize a trip to Ripley’s
Believe It or Not museum for the
underprivileged youths living in the
Intervention and Assessment house at
Boys Town Central Florida. We wanted
to raise awareness and be positive role
models in an environment outside of
their living restraints.

Creating Flyers
Social Networking( Creating Facebook
and Twitter pages for our project for
Boystown of Central Florida
Asking for donations from friends
and family
6. For Our fundraising efforts:
We asked Corporations for donations.
Orchestrated a Giveback Night at
Chili’s
Hosted a 5K run at Blanchard Park
Held a Spirit Night at Tijuana Flats
7. We had Supplies for the Dessert
Social donated from Truffles Grille
and Subways, we bought the drinks
We sport equipment for the kids to
play with, we enjoyed a riveting
Basketball game after eating.
8. We rented a pavilion at Blanchard Park
Purchased supplies (water, hotdogs
for grilling)
Our Team made 40 T-Shirts for
anticipated participants
Invited family, friends an current
supporters of BoysTown
9. This was our final event and part of our overall
o goal for the kids at BoysTown.
In order to take 15 kids to Ripley’s Believe it
or not museum, we had to contact them
about tickets/pricing. Ripley’s gave us a
discount!

We purchased Hot dogs and snacks/drinks
10. Our 5K originally scheduled to happen
on Saturday, March 17th, was changed
to Friday March 16th, due to rental
issues with Blanchard Park. With work
and school on Friday several runners
who had committed to participating
had to back out. Out of 35 people who
had said they would be able to attend,
only 8 showed up the day of.
11. Another shortfall that can be accredited to
scheduling was our Tijuana Flats Giveback
Night. Originally planned for March 8th, our
group realized this would be during Spring
Break and many students would not be in town
to go. The date was changed to the only other
available day, March 29th, however this was
after our Ripley’s event day and the money
could not be used to contribute to the Ripley’s
day in general
12. In the end, we delivered to boystown $70 from Chili's.
$208.45 in Desserts for our Desert Social, $468.37 for
the Ripley’s Tickets. The Barbeque after was $53.65 .
Donated 25 T-shirts, worth 167.02, and $40 from Tijuana
Flats
although the Tijuana Flats fundraiser was after our
Ripley’s event, the money was left as a monetary donation.
The non-monetary resource we delivered was a positive
environment wherein the kids of Boystown could enjoy
themselves
What sustainable impact did your
team have?
Our stakeholders were impacted through the influence and
example we hoped to have set for the youth, which helps
their overall mission of teaching the kids social skills and
manners they can apply in their future endeavors How did
your client and your team
13. Client: Our client said that we were good role
models and the kids were impacted by our
positive influence and the memory of the
experience.
Team: We believe this was a huge success. We
completed our goal having acquired an
overall rating (10/10) above our desired
SMART goal rating and were able to learn
about the business world along the way.
