Sorolla was a Spanish painter born in 1863 who was influenced by Impressionism after visiting Paris. He is known for painting scenes of the Mediterranean coast, especially those depicting the effects of light and color on the sea, beach, and human figures. His works achieved great fame across Europe and the United States, though his mature style is considered luminist rather than Impressionist. The story describes a family's summer holiday in Valencia, where the mother worries for her son Jake after he goes down to the beach alone and the rising tide threatens to trap him. She finds him safely playing in the sand.
The Art Institute of Chicago, founded in 1879 and located in Chicago's Grant Park, is one of the oldest and largest art museums in the United States. Recognized for its curatorial efforts and popularity among visitors, the museum hosts approximately 1.5 million guests annually.[2] Its collection, stewarded by 11 curatorial departments, is encyclopedic, and includes iconic works such as Georges Seurat's A Sunday on La Grande Jatte, Pablo Picasso's The Old Guitarist, Edward Hopper's Nighthawks, and Grant Wood's American Gothic. Its permanent collection of nearly 300,000 works of art is augmented by more than 30 special exhibitions mounted yearly that illuminate aspects of the collection and present cutting-edge curatorial and scientific research. A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
2. Sorolla
• He was a Spanish painter that
was born the 27th of February of
1863. A trip to Paris, brought him
into contact with impressionist
painting, which represented a
revolution in his style. He left the
above one and began to paint
outdoors, leaving invaded by the
light and the color of the
Mediterranean.
In the most typical style of Sorolla,
the technical and impressionist
conception, you can distinguish the
human figure (naked children,
women sheer dresses) on a beach
background or landscape.
3. • His fame went beyond the Spanish borders
to spread throughout Europe and the United
States. Tagged as impressionist sometimes
actually his mature style is best defined as
luminist.
It´s precisely the work of light color and
vigorous brushwork depicting scenes on the
sea front which identifies the art of Sorolla.
6. Story
It was a windy day. A family was on
summer holidays in Valencia. They
installed in the hotel and the little child,
Jake, went to explore the beach near the
hotel, while his parents were taking out the
things of the luggage.
7. He was playing in the water when he
realised the sea level was rising. He wasn´t
near the shore, so it took him a long time to
get out of the water. Finally, Jake got into
the shore and played with the sand.
8. Meanwhile in the hotel, her mother was
looking for Jake. She saw through the
window that the sea level was rising and she
thought his son might be in the beach and
she went to see if he was there.
9. She went to the beach and looked for his son. She
was about to give up when he saw Jake playing with
the sand. She felt relieved, took his son and gave him
a towel for him to dry up.
