Introduction
This is a report about Emperor penguins. It
explains about their diet, were they live and
everything you need to know about Emperor
penguins. Also, an Emperor penguin is the
largest of 17 species of penguins. Get exited and

Reproduction

The female Emperor Penguin walks as far as
120km through the sea and ice to the breeding
site. They head out to sea for about 2 months. The
female penguin lays the egg then ends up leaving
it. The male penguin spends the entire winter to
keep the egg warm and cozy.The father doesn’t
get to eat for three months they wait for the female
to come back.!
Habitat
An Emperor penguin lives in a cold place called
Antarctica. To keep warm in Antarctica they
huddle up together in groups, and they are the
only type of bird that never steps foot on land.
Swimming
Did you know Emperor Penguins can swim fast?
They can dive up to 565 metres [1,850 feet].
Thats way deeper than any other sort of bird. !
Also they can stay under water for about 20
minutes. Their flippers help them keep there
balance also to swim. The average swimming
speed is 6-9 km an hour.!

Emperor penguins have a lot of threats. Some of their threats are leopard
seals and killer whales. But, the most biggest threat is global warming.
Global warming is a major threat to emperor penguins.leopard seals and
killer whales are a Emperor Penguin threat is because they want to attack
the emperor penguins to eat and kill them.!

Also global warming is when the world gets hotter and what causes it is the
green house gas and it makes the ice melt and the seas rise and also the
sea gets warmer. And people on earth can start to die.!

Diet
The things Emperor penguins eat are krill
[shrimp] , squid and also fishes. When a
Emperor penguin hunts for food it takes up to 18
minutes to dive down 535 metres in the water.
They have been to go under the water more than
1,755 feet when needed to find food.
Appearance
The colour of a Emperor penguin is black and
white with a side of its neck golden. Also on their
beak is black and orange. They have black
feathers over their body and they also have a
warm layer of feathered skin called a brood
pouch.
Lifespan
The Emperor penguin can live up to 20 years,
but also some can live up to 50 years. The
emperor penguins life cycle starts by two
emperor penguins mating. The Male emperor
penguin starts to incubate the eggs then the eggs
start hatching. When the babies are born they
start feeding the new chicks. The chicks form
groups to help stay warm. And finally adults
leave and chicks fledge and the ice breaks up.
