Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

1. Descriptive Essay About A Song
One day during my sophomore year of high school while I was waiting for my class to start, I
decided to explore new genres of music and artists that I haven't listened to before. I was sitting on
the floor outside of my classroom searching through Spotify for something new and exciting. After
looking through the Classic Rock section on Spotify, I came across the band Queen. Since that
moment, I have been and avid Queen listener and have listened to all their songs. I have been
particularly fond of their albums The Game, The Miracle and Night at the Opera.
The first Queen song I heard was Bohemian Rhapsody from the album Night at the Opera. It was
around 7:45 am, the morning was very still and quiet and the sky was clear. My surroundings
became increasingly louder as the school day was about to begin and it was a cool morning unlike
the typical Floridian morning weather. After scrolling through various Queen songs on Spotify, I
stumbled upon as song I have heard about through friends but not listened to: Bohemian Rhapsody.
Just like the eerily still morning, the exposition of the song was smooth and relaxed. The beginning
of the song sounded like there were many voices in harmony and the hazy, smooth timbre resonated
in my ear buds. The lyrics of the song matched with the eerie quality of the voices, the lyrics
indicate that the singers are in some state of confusion and are unclear of their surroundings. The
singers hold the last word of each verse for a beat longer than

2. A Song Analysis: Blurred Lines
All throughout the summer a song was constantly blasting through speakers singing about blurred
lines, but what lines are being blurred?
Blurred Lines is a popular summer song that is constantly played on the radio. A song like "Blurred
Lines" should not be played on public radio. A big problem with "Blurred Lines" is that it attempts
to normalize disrespectful behavior towards women. Robin Thicke teamed up with rapper T.I. and
singer–producer Pharrell to deliver arguably this summer's most popular song. The song "Blurred
Lines" has placed number one on the billboard hot 100 and has sold over one million copies.
Critical reception of the track is mostly positive. Yet with the success comes a not so positive
response. When first listening to the song a person might find themselves nodding your head to a
catchy tune, but perhaps once a person listens closely to the lyrics some people may not want this
song on their iPods.
Summer hit "Blurred Lines" is one of the radio's most played songs currently. The song is placed
at number one on America's top 40 charts for the week of September 14th. While it is popular, the
lyrics paint a story of someone who wants the singer, but is a good girl. The message of the song is
blurring lines of morality. Not only is the song soliciting sexual themes, but it goes as far as using
derogatory names towards the said good girl. Also, the song has strong themes of guilting someone
into sex, claiming that not many can refuse T.I.'s pimping. The song

3. R & B Music Analysis
There are many types of music, known as geners, that people prefer to listen. Many people may
like country while the other person like Jazz. Me on the other hand, like several types of music
genres. The music i find most appealing is the soul in R&B, the notes and keys artsist hit in gospel,
the beat and rhythm in instrumentals, and the flow and lyrics in rap music.
R&B soul is or can be a calm genre to listen to when you are in your feelings. These types of artist
talks about how they feel and what they feel when they write music. Most of the time it is a love
song. Tyreese, a black singer, wrote a sing called,"How you gonna". The meaning of the song was
for a girl that left him for someone else. He expreesed how he felt about it and what he was feeling
through the song. People goes through things everyday and song music has a way of expressing
their thoughts.
Gospel music is good for all people with different emotions/moods. If you are going thriugh hard
times or was, gospel music is the best music to listen to. It makes you feel and know that you are
not alone and God is always there. Artust like Tasha Page talks about what she have been through

4. Song Analysis Of The Song Imagine By John Lennon
Song Lyric Analysis
The song Imagine written by John Lennon was released in 1971 during the period of the Vietnam
War (Johnson, 2010). John Lennon who himself had a strong faith in peace and unity promoted
world peace through the inspirational lyrical context of Imagine.
John Lennon, throughout this piece of song, leads the audience to imagine and visualize the world
of hope, possibility, and happiness. Each and every line with the flow of very specific choice of
wordings convey the ideology of the perfect world in our imagination, which John Lennon believed
and promoted in the efforts of world peace. In the first verse, "Imagine there's no heaven ... Imagine
all the people, living for today" ("Imagine Lyrics."), John Lennon draws out a better place where
people live for today and only focus on the present. We have been brought upon the concept of
heaven or hell after our death. Only if people believed that there were no tomorrow but today, we
would have done good with our actions and appreciate the moment as we won't have tomorrow to
repent of our sin from today. The second verse, "Imagine there's no countries... Nothing to kill or die
for, and no religion too ... Living life in peace" ("Imagine Lyrics."), demonstrates an ideology of an
ideal world through the portrayal of desegregation. Humans suffer from separation and
discrimination against religion, nationality, and territories that draws the distinct line through the
race. John Lennon implies that with no boundaries

5. Past: Happy– Pharrell Williams In the song "Happy" by Pharrell Williams, the message in the
song is to always be happy, and that the sky is the limit. When I was younger I always had big
goals and I still believe it, and I keep reminding myself of the message in the song when I'm upset
or angry. When I was younger, I never seemed to enjoy thepresent moment and I was always
looking towards the future, and once the future came, I realized that I should've enjoyed the past, and
not look at the future, and appreciate what's there in the moment. When I started listening to this
song a few years ago, I started hearing the true message in this song, and I started appreciating my
life, and enjoying every moment of it. I figured out that the...show more content...
After this experience all of his friends and family told him that his opportunity is over, and to
give up his dreams of becoming a successful rapper. He knew he has his chance and he blew it, but
he never gave up. A few months later he gets another opportunity to rap in front of a crowd. He
knew he had to seize the chance, and to prove everyone wrong. The song comes on, and it
describes how he's feeling before he goes on stage. He uses sentences like, "his palms are sweaty,
knees weak, arms are heavy. He's nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready to drop
bombs..." He is telling himself that if he blows this, his dream is over, and that "you only get one
shot so do not miss your chance to blow, because this opportunity once in a lifetime". When he
finally goes on stage, he's feeling nervous, but he's so ambitious to get what he wants, that he
starts to rap like no one has ever heard. The crowd was astonished, and knew that his rap was the
best they've ever listened to, which kick started his career as a rapper. The song starts out with a
piano playing, and then the piano stops, and very fast music comes in, and the rap starts right away.
The rapping is intense, because when you're hungry to achieve something you have to act intense
about it.

6. The Song Analysis Of 'We Are The World'
In 1984, an iconic song was created by two sensational artists Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie.
A song they created inspired millions, originally created for people of Africa during the time of a
horrific famine, was later recreated for the earthquake of Haiti. And for many years our world has
been through so much trauma, trauma such as diseases, shootings, and devastating natural disasters.
That song we know as "We Are The World
" created such an inspiring notion that sparks to change
our perspective of the world, how it is ours the children like Jackson said' " We are the world, we
are the children" meaning we are all connected and the lyrics of this song represents that.
When I listen to this song it gives a sense of hope, hope that everything will be alright. The songs
sends out a powerful message that anyone and everyone can help and make a difference in the
world. The style of this song is so powerful it's an eclectic style of many incredible genres such as;
gospel, rock, hip–hop, R&B etc. many of the famous artists of this song were called the United
Support Of Artists for Africa, despite their musical differences came together and created a moving

8. Blues Music Analysis
With all the sadness in the world, where have the blues gone? Blues music is one of the most
creative and expressive genres out there, yet it is wildly underappreciated among younger
generations. They are unaware of the beauty and history of the misunderstood genre. In order to
understand the blues, we must discuss what blues music is, its history, and the state of the blues
today. Blues music is mainly defined by its lyrics, which are more lyrical in nature, rather than
narrative. In B.B. King's song, "Every Day I Have the Blues," King gives us a good example of what
blues music is generally about,
Every day, every day I have the blues
Ooh every day, every day I have the blues
When you see me worryin' baby, yeah it's you I hate to lose
Blues music is known for its expression of emotion such as sadness and melancholy usually in
relation to love. In King's example, he was singing about a woman he had lost and his troubles
finding love. He repeats this phrase three times during the song with long lyrical pauses between
stanzas for instrumental solo usually by the lead singer on the guitar or piano. King is known for
never playing while he sang. He would either play or sing, but never both at the same time. The
blues are also known for its twelve–bar music structure which makes it distinct to other genres of
music. Being a twelve–bar musical structure means that the music generally has the same phrase,
chord structure, and duration. The chord structure is always

9. Example of Conflict Theory in "Testify", by Rage Against the Machine
Rage Against the Machine's single "Testify", the first song from their 1999 album 'The Battle of
Los Angeles", is a commentary on the American public's blindness or numbness to global issues
such as war, politics, capitalism, wealth, and power through the filtering of information by the mass
news media. As it relates to Sociology, "Testify" deals mainly with Marxist Conflict Theory, and
also incorporates many of the topics we have learned about in class throughout the semester. A major
issue dealt with in "Testify" is the filtering of the news media for mass consumption and the
misrepresentation of world events by the media to keep the audience happy and content...show more

Referring to the public in general as "the jury", each chorus in the song pleads with the listener to
"testify" because "it's right outside your door". Going with the major theme of the song, it seems to
be asking the listener to go and sift through what they watch on television and search for the true
information – what's really going on in the world. Saying "Its right outside your door" implies that
all they have to do is put in some effort and look for it, and the truth can be found. By yelling at the
masses to "testify", the song is telling people to be critical of what they hear and what is shown in
the media and to speak out against what they don't agree with. The witness would be testifying to the
jury
(the masses). In this respect, the song is asking people who realize the nature of what they're being
shown to convince the masses (the "jury") of the deceit of the government–influenced media. The
song concludes by referencing George Orwell's classic dystopian novel "1984" with the lines "Who
controls the past now controls the future / Who controls the present now controls the past" (lines
49–51),

Song Comparison Essay The road of life can be a bumpy one. There will always be twists and turns
that can alter a person's life, changing the course of their destination. Even though life can be tough,
you have to draw upon your inner strength in order to persevere. The songs, "Move Along" by The
All–American Rejects and "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" by Greenday sing about this
message. The lyrics in their songs have many literary devices such as personification, repetition,
symbolism and juxtaposition. The personification will help you...show more content...
The theme is how when you have a tough, important moment in life, you have to make the best of it
and move along. An image for these lyrics will help you connect to the theme because you can see
what is going on and a picture will help you understand something more. In my next paragraph, I will
be talking about how the singers used repetition to emphasize certain points. In these songs, lyrics
were repeated. Repetition draws the listener's attention to particular words or phrases. In the song,
Time of Your Life, the singer repeats the line, "It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life." This line is repeated throughout the song multiple times. The
singer is emphasizing the fact that anything can happen when you make your choice but in the end,
you have to just relax and be happy. He wants the audience to really understand it. In the other song,
the line, "Move along, move along. Just to make it through" The singer is repeating the term, "Move
along" because that is the main message in this song. It is to move along when things seem bad. The
singer wants the audience to really get the message and to feel good when they relate to this song.
These lines connect to the theme because they are talking about moving on in tough situations and
being satisfied with the outcome. These lyrics were emphasized well. Besides repetition, the singers
also used symbols and juxtaposition to

11. Feminist Anthems: Song Analysis
We live in a world where social issues are all around us. One social issue I would like to focus on,
however, is gender equality. This was a huge issue in the past and has gotten gradually better, but is
still something people 'fight' for. Especially for woman, who have come so far in today's society. In
the past, many woman were seen as inferior to men and many songs written back then represent
this well. Some of those songs from the 1960's include; "You don't own me" by Lesley Gore and
"Respect" by Aretha Franklin. Moving into the 2000's; "Run the World" by Beyonce and "Can't hold
us down" by Christina Aguilera. These four songs represent the movement for gender equality, from
women demanding 'respect' to women promoting feminist rights. This social issue has evolved
so much over the years and will keep evolving. The first song I mentioned, "You don't own me"
was written by Lesley Gore and released in 1963. It is one of the first woman anthems at the time,
though no one knew it yet; this is shown when Gore states " As I got older, feminism became
more a part of my life and more a part of our whole awareness, and I could see why people would
use it as a feminist anthem" ( Marcotte). It is considered to be one of the songs that began the
Women's Liberation Movement in the long run. Gore's...show more content...
Also, feminism continued to be big in this decade, with many people promoting it, while others
objected it; like any social issue. One song that caught my attention was " Run the World" by
Beyonce, it was released in 2011 and quickly became a hit. The song is saying that 'girls rule, boys
drool' and women wont take anything less. This song is somewhat like the other two songs
mentioned; especially "Respect" by Aretha Franklin, the only difference is that Beyonce's song is
much more straightforward and you wont see a 'please' in it. This is shown when Beyonce

Shawn Mendes uses his music as a form of communicating messages to his listeners. These
messages mainly consist of relationship problems, relationship advice, personal experiences, and
a vivid picture of who he is. Mendes's messages can clearly be seen in songs like don't be a fool,
mercy, treat you better, three empty words, and others (Hampp). All of these songs are in Shawn
Mendes's new album, illuminate, as a result of Mendes wanting his new album to have a "deeper
meaning" and seem more like an "actual person" to his fans. Mendes hopes to use his songs to
show who he his mainly because he did not want people to misread his words during interviews

Most people can say that one of the most important things in life is happiness. Happiness is key to
a worthy life. When you are happy, you go about your day much better than if you are sad or
angry. Happiness occurs internally but external factors such as music can always help. Music is
responsible for extracting certain emotions, such as happiness, in any listener. I chose to call my
playlist "It's Going to Be a Good Day" because everyone needs a playlist to start off their day right

happiness is very important in my life. If I am not happy, then I cannot be efficient in the different

14. Hey Jude
Hey Jude – Song analysis
"Hey Jude" is a song by the English rock band The Beatles and was written by Paul McCartney. It
was first released in August 1968 under The Beatles label 'Apple Records'. Hey Jude runs for
7mins and 11secs and at the time of release was the longest single to top the British charts.
The song is said to have evolved from "hey Jules", a song that had been written as a ballad to
comfort Lennon's son Julian during his parents' divorce. McCartney said,
"I started with the idea 'Hey Jules,' which was Julian, don't make it bad, take a sad song and make it
better. Hey, try and deal with this terrible thing. I knew it was not going to be easy for him. I always
feel sorry for kids in divorces ... I had the idea [for...show more content...
This is however broken at the end of this verse as there is one bar added. Harmonically to do this the
final verse chord is turned into a V/IV allowing the chordal structure to smoothly transition from
verse to bridge.
Bridge 1:
As a result of the verse having a bar added to the end, the first phrase of both bridges have 5 bars
thus mimicking the lead in from verse to bridge making the song stable again. Harmonically the
start and the end of both bridges tonally are quite unstable. The bridge is an unusual 11 and a half
measures long and sees the introduction of a walking Bass line and drums with emphasis on tapping
cymbals. Melodically the main vocal tends to fall throughout the most part of the bridge, barely
rising until the major melody swell that leads to the next verse.
Verse 3:
Verse 3 has the addition of backing vocals in thirds. There is also the introduction of a stray
backing vocal as well. The stray vocal "so let it out and let it in" leads into the lyrical ideas found
in the next bridge. The tambourine in this verse is more frequent and played now as semi–quavers.
Bridge 2: Bridge 2 mirrors bridge 1 harmonically and musically with only slight variance in lyrics
and slightly more ornate lead vocals with more passing notes but still sticking to the diatonic Fmajor
the majority of the time..
Verse 4:
In verse 4 there is a vocal ornamentation of the initial "Hey Jude" phrase,

Song #1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9fLbfzCqWw http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics
/yellowcard/oceanavenue.html The song "Yellowcard" by Ocean Avenue is a song that talks
about a past relationship. The singer wishes to go back in time to the time that they were together
so that his life could improve. This is shown by the lyrics "If I could find you now things would
get better" and "I know somewhere, somehow we'll be together". This song relates well to "The
Great Gatsby" as the singer's aspirations to enjoy life by reliving the past or similar to Gatsby's
aspiration to relive his past with Daisy. Gatsby believes that Daisy is everything that he will ever
need and that with her he will attain eternal happiness. The green light represents the dream of
obtaining Daisy. Gatsby reaches towards this light at the end of chapter one as if he is trying to
reach towards the past. Both Gatsby and the singer of "Yellowcard" both want to achieve happiness
by relieving the past with their former lovers. Song #2 https://www.youtube.com

Their meeting is very awkward because Gatsby is nervous, but it eventually gets better. The song
says, "I'm living for the only thing I know," this represents Gatsby's need for Daisy's approval. He
wants to have Daisy so much that he seemed to "revalue everything in his house...according to the
response" of Daisy. The song also has the lyrics "you take all of me," this represents the stalker
quality of Gatsby, and shows that she is his life. Both the song "Hanging by a Moment" and Gatsby

looking kind of dumb with her finger in her thumb."(Smash Mouth) This lyric describes the singer's
personality. He might not be the smartest person and people might judge him, but The singer is
smart enough to make his own decisions. This is a great example of a hypole. Another examples of

Throughout each piece, Grandmaster Flash samples many elements from the original song. In the

19. The Song Analysis OfHey, Jude, By Paul Mccartney
"Hey, Jude" was written by The Beatles band member, Paul McCartney in 1970. McCartney
originally titled the song as "Hey, Jules" as an ode to John Lennon's son Jules, who was in the
forefront of his parents' divorce. McCartney ultimately decided to change the title to "Hey, Jude"
after hearing the name in a movie and liking the sound of the name. The voice of "Hey, Jude" is
encouraging and urges Jude to not give up during hard times. Paul McCartney acts as the persona,
taking an influential role in Jude's life. "Hey, Jude" contains poetic elements that add to the overall
effect of the song, including rhyme, symbolism, and multiple sound techniques. Paul McCartney

Multiple sound techniques are used in "Hey, Jude" to aide the song to take a poetic feel.
McCartney, the lead singer, physically sings the song in a happy, almost encouraging manner.
John, George, and Ringo, the other band members, add backup vocals to aide McCartney in
bringing forth an encouraging tone. The tempo of the music is 3 beats per measure, which is
moderately fast. Given that the fast tempo helps give the song an upbeat and encouraging tone, it
contributes to the effect of the song. The stanzas of "Hey, Jude" are relatively similar in length,
each having a similar rhyme scheme. The words of the song follow a pattern of stressed and
unstressed syllables, which is referred to as rhythm. The rhythm greatly affects how the listener
interprets that meaning. Repetition of phrases like, "Hey, Jude," and, "Then you can start to make it
better," are used to emphasize the phrases' importance in the song. The repetition allows listeners to
remember the line and, because of this, is considered a way McCartney manipulated sound.
McCartney used tricks within the music, like rhythm and repetition, to create a poetic feeling. The
feeling the music brings forth adds to the overall effect of the song. All things considered, the
comprehensive meaning of the song "Hey, Jude" has changed for me as I carefully listened for the
McCartney's use of poetry. Paul

Song Analysis Essay
Social inadequacy is an aspect of life that many in today's world consider a matter of great
importance. There is a constant "war" for the apex position on the social hierarchy that has been
created as a result of mankind's strict focus on society. An indie pop band by the name of Fun. have
taken this concern and made it the subject of a song called Some Nights. This song depicts and
acknowledges the existence of a social hierarchy and the world's fixation on reaching the top of it.
This song also demonstrates the Marxist theory which states that one's self–conscious is determined
by one's social existence. Simply put, with little social power, one cannot be sure of whom they are.
Furthermore, this song illustrates...show more content...
He acknowledges his lips' potential at dictating society, and how they will influence other areas
where power is present. Let's be honest, how many times have we heard of people who are
virtually unknown to the world suddenly come to power in a number of areas? Exactly. You can
count them on your fingers. This is one of the reasons for mankind's dependence on social
adequacy. In order to gain power in many areas, you must have first acquired power in society, the
greatest power of all. Climbing up this non–existent, intangible social ladder, Karl Marx's theory on
the self–conscious' dependence on social existence and the power of social omnipotence in external
affairs are all examples of how this world has taken a Marxist turn in not–so–recent years. Social
adequacy seems to be everything now. All in all, this Marxist world of ours is subject to what
society deems important or suitable in our lives. The sad truth is that this aspect is so deeply
imbued within our lives that it has become a sub–conscious thing to mind our actions in every way;
just so that we may get that much more social or gain that much more status. In everything,,
everywhere there are Marxist inferences. In politics, in school, at work...even at home! In all
honesty, have you ever completely not cared about your place in society, even sub–consciously?
