Fine art is meant to make statements about society and life using the chosen artistic medium. Artists like Paula Rego address issues like illegal abortion in her country through her work. Jenny Saville uses the human form in paint to explore contemporary topics. Art should provoke meaningful feelings and reflect the world, as seen in the works of Ken Currie and paintings dealing with the human condition. If art does not examine or comment on society, it is merely a commodity for wealthy patrons like some of Damien Hirst's highly priced pieces.
Support Systems, Institutions and Initiatives Across the regions.pptxAliceRivera13
This document discusses various support systems for the arts across regions in the Philippines. It mentions different types of institutions like museums, academies, and artist collectives that support the arts. It provides examples of specific artist-run initiatives, museums, and awards that have helped the arts scene in the country. The document also profiles some influential artists in dance, theater, comics, and literature that have been recognized for their contributions to the arts in the Philippines.
Experiment 4 purification - recrystallization of benzoic acidaldawaa
This document provides instructions for purifying benzoic acid through recrystallization. It begins with an overview of recrystallization as a method to purify solids based on differences in solubility. The document then details the specific experimental procedures for recrystallizing benzoic acid, including weighing out the impure sample, dissolving it in hot water, slowly cooling the solution to form crystals, collecting the crystals via vacuum filtration, and allowing the crystals to air dry. The goal is to purify benzoic acid by exploiting its higher solubility in hot water compared to cold water.

This document discusses art appreciation and defines art. It begins by providing the etymology of the word "art" and definitions of art from Pablo Picasso, Agnes Martin, and Merriam Webster. It then discusses three categories of defining art: as representation, as expression of emotional content, and as form. Under representation, it discusses mimesis and provides examples of great masters like Michelangelo, Rubens, and Velazquez. It further explores the definitions of art as expression and as form. The document concludes by stating four essentials of art and discussing how art is universal yet distinct from nature, involving experience.
The document discusses the principles of art, which are how elements are arranged and put together, compared to elements themselves which make up the basic materials. It describes several principles: rhythm and movement which create visual flow; pattern and repetition through recurring elements; unity and harmony with elements complementing each other; contrast and emphasis using differences; and balance in symmetrical, asymmetrical, or radial composition. Examples are given for each principle, some with links to online demonstrations.
Medium refers to the materials used to create a work of art. Sculptors use materials like metal, wood, and stone. Painters use pigments on surfaces like canvas or paper. Musicians use instruments and the human voice. Architecture occupies space using materials like wood, bamboo, bricks, and concrete. Technique is the method artists use to manipulate materials to achieve their desired effect and communicate their concept or meaning. Contemporary artists expand the range of media and techniques, creating more process-based, site-specific, interactive, and collaborative works that push the boundaries of traditional art forms.

3. Kolograf, kolagrafia
Grafika strukturalna - technika graficzna
w tradycyjnych technikach graficznych).
Inna charakterystyczną cechą jest różnica w
wysokości poszczególnych elementów drukujących,
przez co najczęściej druku nie można wykonać
maszynowo.
Nazwano tę technikę kolagrafią, wskazując na
podobieństwa do techniki kolażu.
4. Do wykonania
potrzebna jest
płyta
przygotowana
z tektury,
kawałków
kartonu i
materiałów o
wyraźnej
fakturze
(koronki, tektura
falista, firanki).
6. Staramy się, aby wszystkie elementy
miały jednakową wysokość.
Przygotowaną matrycę malujemy
cienką warstwą lakieru bezbarwnego.
7. Po wysuszeniu
płyty nanosimy
na jej
powierzchnię za
pomocą pędzla,
wałka
malarskiego z
gąbki, tamponu
lub specjalnego
wałka
gumowego
farbę drukarską.
8. Na pokrytą farbą
płytę nakładamy
kartkę papieru,
dociskamy ją
dłonią, masujemy
we wszystkich
kierunkach lub
używamy czystego
wałka.
Gotowe odbitki
suszymy.
9.
10. KALKOGRA
Ta technikaF polega
na odbijaniu
przygotowanych
kompozycji z
kartonu, sznurków,
tektury falistej, liści
i innych materiałów
o ciekawej fakturze
z wykorzystaniem
kalki maszynowej.
11. Na przygotowaną
kompozycję (np. ułożone
na gazecie zasuszone
liście) nakładamy arkusz
kalki maszynowej (stroną
z farbą ku dołowi), arkusz
gazety (aby zbytnio nie
zabrudzić żelazka) i
prasujemy średnio
gorącym żelazkiem.
Następnie ściągamy kalkę
z gazetą, nakładamy na
zafarbowane kalką liście
czystą kartkę papieru i
ponownie prasujemy
żelazkiem. Na kartce
odbiją nam się liście i tło
z kalki.
12. Następnie
ściągamy kalkę z
gazetą,
nakładamy na
zafarbowane
kalką liście
czystą kartkę
papieru i
ponownie
prasujemy
żelazkiem. Na
kartce odbiją

tło z kalki.
13. MONOTYPIA
Za twórcę techniki uważa
się Giovanniego Benedetto
Castiglione,
siedemnastowiecznego
włoskiego malarza,
akwaforcistę i rysownika. W
tamtym czasie technika ta
polegała na tym, że na
płaskiej miedzianej
powierzchni pokrytej farbą,
wykonywano rysunek, a
następnie przykładano do
niej papier w celu zrobienia
odbitki.
14. Monotypię graficzną
wykonuje się
najczęściej na
płytach szklanych,
które pokrywa się
farbą drukarską.
Do tego celu możemy
tez użyć płyty pleksi,
blachy lub tektury.
15. Tekturę pokrywamy farbą plakatową średniej gęstości i
pozostawiamy na chwilę do lekkiego przeschnięcia (tektura
powinna być wilgotna, ale nie mokra). Na tak przygotowaną
płytkę nakładamy kartkę papieru i patyczkiem lub ołówkiem
wykonujemy na niej rysunek.
16. Im mocniej naciskamy, tym ciemniejsza będzie linia naszego
rysunku na odwrocie kartki. Wypełnienie konturów rysunku
wykonujemy poprzez dociskanie papieru w wybranych miejscach
palcami lub patyczkiem.
17. Proste kolografy, kalkografie czy monotypie mogą wykonywać
nawet dzieci. Jest to bardzo przyjemny a zarazem rozwijający
kreatywność sposób spędzenia wolnego czasu.
