Financial Services
 Client CIO wanted to realize the CO savings through adoption of cloud platforms for long tail apps
supported by his team. But the challenge was to figure out which part of his current landscape should be
targeted for the migration to balance risk and maximizing the TCO savings.
 Pockets of awareness in the IT organization around Force.com and Workday but client wanted to avoid
AWS in the short term as they wanted to focus on PaaS
 Identified 3 year savings of ~ $ 12M after calculating one time migration costs and license costs
 Identified consolidation opportunities of multiple apps to allow deferred risk roadmap with apps being
migrated in a 2 phase model
 Identified opportunities to move legacy applications to SFDC platform
 Identified technology and platform standardization opportunities across the landscape
Capgemini conducted a Capgemini Cloud assessment for 225 apps to determine which of these apps could
be targeted for PaaS and specifically Force.com:
 Identified 30% of the apps (59 apps) surveyed for PaaS and specific fit to Force.com use cases
 Developed a two stage roadmap with the customer for moving to Force.com that identified TCO savings
of 35% for phase 1 and 40% for phase 2. The first phase was for 20 apps followed by the migration of the
rest 39 apps for a 3 year savings of 38%
 Worked with the client to develop a licensing solution for pilot phase with Salesforce.com to allow
customer to show some return in Year 1

 Identify opportunities for 15% TCO reduction
 Reduce the number of applications and streamline the vendors
 Align the application portfolio with business strategies
 Cloud identified >25% in savings compared to target of 15%
 15%+ reduction in number of apps in the portfolio
 Savings were identified through a range of strategies including: Consolidation, retirement, vendor
consolidation, Rightshoring and operational excellence
 90% of savings through consolidation, 7% through simplification and the remaining through other
strategies
 Key consolidation opportunities in functional areas like CRM and BI having 45% of apps identified
 Analyzed the portfolio of ~ 300 applications from different perspectives to identify opportunities for
application and vendor consolidation, application decommissioning and replacement

But the challenge was to figure out which part of his current landscape should be targeted for the migration to balance risk and maximizing the TCO savings.  Pockets of awareness in the IT organization around Force.com and Workday but client wanted to avoid AWS in the short term as they wanted to focus on PaaS  Identified 3 year savings of ~ $ 12M after calculating one time migration costs and license costs  Identified consolidation opportunities of multiple apps to allow deferred risk roadmap with apps being migrated in a 2 phase model  Identified opportunities to move legacy applications to SFDC platform  Identified technology and platform standardization opportunities across the landscape Capgemini conducted a Capgemini Cloud assessment for 225 apps to determine which of these apps could be targeted for PaaS and specifically Force.com:  Identified 30% of the apps (59 apps) surveyed for PaaS and specific fit to Force.com use cases  Developed a two stage roadmap with the customer for moving to Force.com that identified TCO savings of 35% for phase 1 and 40% for phase 2.
