The 1000 MW combined-cycle power plant Sohar is an innovative captive power plant, which is under initial operation in the Sultanate of Oman, and is being
built by Alstom on a turnkey EPC and commissioning basis. The power plant is based on Alstom’s proven and mature combined-cycle technology, which has
over three million operating hours. This has the benefit of not only providing high plant efficiency (>50 %), but also exceptional operational availability and
flexibility. The Sohar CCPP exclusively powers a green field aluminium smelter operated by the Sohar Aluminium Company LLC and most importantly is the
largest power generation plant in the Sultanate.
