GAS TURBINE 
 A gas turbine, also called a combustion 
turbine, is a rotary engine that extracts energy 
from a flow of hot gas Produced by combustion 
of gas in a stream of compressed air. 
 Temp of GT is 1390deg-c(approx.). 
 In this shaft speed is 3000 rpm. 
 Gas turbine arranged on common shaft with 
compressor and a generator. 
 Overall Efficiency of Gas turbine is 20%-40%.

WASTE HEAT RECOVERY 
STEAM GENERATOR 
 It is a heat exchanger that recovers 
heat from a hot gas stream. 
 There are two boiler drums in 
WHRSG. 
 Water comes in economizer and 
temperature of water increased. 
 Water supplied to boiler drum then 
evaporator in this water is converted 
into steam. 
 Steam pass through super heaters. 
 Dry steam is supplied to boiler 
drum. Then steam turbine.

STEAM TURBINE 
In Steam Turbine shaft is rotated steadily 
by impact reaction of steam as working 
substances on blades of turbine. 
It converts potential energy or heat energy 
into mechanical energy. 
It works on Rankine Cycle. 
Steam turbine is started by burnt exhaust 
gases coming out from gas turbine.

1) Air Preheater: 
Increases the temperature of the 
air supplied for Fuel burning by 
deriving heat from flue gases. 
Air is drawn from the atm by 
a forced drought fan and is 
passed through air preheater 
before supplying to the boiler furnace.

• Steam turbine is coupled to an alternator 
which converts the mechanical energy to 
electrical energy 
• The electrical output of the alternator is

GAS TURBINE  A gas turbine, also called a combustion turbine, is a rotary engine that extracts energy from a flow of hot gas Produced by combustion of gas in a stream of compressed air.  Temp of GT is 1390deg-c(approx.).  In this shaft speed is 3000 rpm.  Gas turbine arranged on common shaft with compressor and a generator.  Overall Efficiency of Gas turbine is 20%-40%. WASTE HEAT RECOVERY STEAM GENERATOR  It is a heat exchanger that recovers heat from a hot gas stream.  There are two boiler drums in WHRSG.  Water comes in economizer and temperature of water increased.  Water supplied to boiler drum then evaporator in this water is converted into steam.  Steam pass through super heaters.  Dry steam is supplied to boiler drum.
