I do not mind waiting for people, and respect their needs to take their time or express their emotions before contiuning on with their conversation. I
believe that I can be a strong leader, if I work on my confidence. In small groups or one on one I am more comforatble. In large groups where I am
considered the leader I get nervus. However, I have started trying to overome my fears by taking on group leadership roles at my church.
I do not believe that I have any limitations goinging into field, but I do have weaknesses. I do not have work expereince as a social worker. So I
believe that my bigggest weakness in a lack of experience. I volunteer at a hospice agency, but I am mainly in the office. Another weakness is
beginning conversations. I enjoy talking to people, but I am not a great conversation starter. I believe that field will allow me to view conversation

Social work is a career that finds and chooses you, rather than you selecting it. Social work has always been an immense portion of my life even
when I had no recollection of what social work entailed. My life revolved around so many situations that had a social worker stepped in, my life

individual help to every person in the situation. Such as, if the mother is a drug addict, she may require some rehab. Or if the father is very ill, he

involved in the situation needs individual "game plans". One treatment does not fit all. Each individual person has a specific plan to help them with

Self–reflection and correction in social work practice is important for continued learning and professional development. Without self–awareness, social
workers cannot separate their personal feelings, values, and attitudes from their professional. This is important because we need to focus on the needs
of the client, not what we think they need. Knowing how to separate our personal feelings and values from our professional feelings and values will
prevent us from getting burnout and help us maintain professional boundaries. My participation in Project Homeless Connect was a learning
experience. Before my participation, I had assumed homelessness meant as living on the streets or in shelters without basic needs like food and
clothing. These assumptions changed when I volunteered at PHC here in Rochester. There is a stigma of mental illness and drug use associated
with homelessness and I have been guilty of looking the other way because I thought the same. What I realized that day is I had more in common

With a strong interest in child welfare, there was no question that my interview with a social worker would involve someone who is involved in

My Experience As A Social Worker
Since my experience as a Social Worker has mainly been focused with the youth population, during the course of my career I had to develop very
creative skills to engage such population. They experienced inevitable unremitting stress, such as poverty, failing education and exposure to

Human Rights And Social Work
Starting with Jane Adams in the early 20th century, human rights were at the forefront of her work with the Hull House which helped establish the
social work profession as we know it (Healy, 2008). The Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the values set and regulated by the NASW share a
common theme focusing on, dignity, self–determination, and improving the quality of life for everyone. Social workers are on the forefront of

The reason why I picked this scenario is because I will most likely practice in a small community, and certainly will run into people I have known for
years or other social conflicts.

My initial reaction to some degree that an old friend have trust in me for him to come seek me for counseling. I am certain that he just did not walk in
without any preliminary thoughts of awkwardness, and for him to achieve that satisfactory ability––we are heading to a good start.

Social Work practicum is where agencies are chosen so that students will get the opportunity to engage in first hand social wok experiences with
individuals, families and organizations.
In these agencies visits the skill that was mainly used and develop was interviewing. Interviewing is defines as a formal meeting between one or
more individuals where questions are being asked and answers are being given. The type of interview that was conducted was face to face
consultation. This is one of the best types of interview because it gives you an opportunity to observe the surroundings and body language of the
interviewee. The first thing I did was book a day and time for the interview, I also made sure that I was prepared in advance for the interview in
terms of the questions. I dressed appropriately and I arrived early so I can settle myself beforehand. Being late makes you look less punctual and
untidy in my opinion.

Intro
1.Working in the human services field, it is important to understand one's own practice framework.
2.A practice framework helps the worker articulate which theories or lenses they use in practice, in order to better understand how they interpret
information and make decisions.
3.Elements such as values, ideologies, theories, human rights & social justice issues can all be incorporated into a worker's personal practice framework.
4.In this paper I will explore each of these areas in order to define my own personal practice framework, as well as looking at how the elements I have
chosen fit within the social work field.

Values are often influenced by different ideologies, so it is important to look at these also.
Ideology
1.De St. Aubin (1996) defines personal ideology as "an individual's unique philosophy of how life should be lived and of what forces influence human
living".
2.Our Ideologies influence our thinking which then influences our behaviour (Connolly & Harms, 2013), so it is important to understand our
ideological positioning.
3.A person's ideology is influenced by their socialisation, mine was heavily influenced by my family.
4.While I was brought up by a strict Christian mother, and still carry many of the values and beliefs from that religion, I have learnt from my father to
me more of an omnist.
5.While he is a Christian also, he has never talked down another religion, he has taught me that all religions have worth and that mots share similar
values, such as treating others the way that you would like them to treat you.
6.I think that the majority of my values, such as respect, compassion, empathy etc. have been influenced and came about from these religious ideologies.
7.Ideologies not only influence our values, but also "our interpretation of the world and how people interact" (Connolly & Harms, 2013, p.8).
