This poster review summarizes two social realism films - This Is England and FishTank. For This Is England, the long shot establishes the characters and setting. The central title draws the eye, and the director's name is in spray paint font. Ratings and reviews allow viewers to gauge the film. For FishTank, a mid shot shows the protagonist peering out a window longingly. The bold title is the main focus, and the neglected bedroom setting hints at the protagonist's struggles.
I was tasked to give a talk about Composition and Portraiture at the Philippine Embassy last June 10, 2011 inline with the Philippine Independence Day celebration. This presentation is an outline of the topic that will give you starting point on the subject matter. Pictures used in the presentation were all captured by me, except for the posing styles examples which i got off from google. Thanks for reading, hope to see you next time.

2. Shot Used: Long Shot
The use of this shot is so that the audience are instantly familiar with the characters and there
attire and there surroundings, giving the audience and insight into the plot of the film and
allowing them to make a judgement on the characters and their behaviour.
Title: This Is England
The title is in the centre of the poster drawing the audiences eye immediately besides the
characters who are stood under the title it is the main focus of the poster and people instantly
know what it is. The director Shane Meadows is also written in a spray can font which again
indicates there surrounding area.
Ratings: *****
The poster also focuses on reviews and rating which have been given to the film, this allows the
audience too see how many stars the film has been given and can see whether it is worth a
watch or they can get a scene of the theme of the film by reading the reviews and seeing what
genres the film is.
4. Shot Used: Mid Shot
The shot used here is a mid shot however the protagonist is to the right of the frame rather than
central. She is sitting next to a window and is peering out of it in a longing way.
The Title: FishTank
The title is the main focus of the poster, it is on the same level as the main character and uses bold
big font to draw attention too itself. The title then has a caption underneath it which again furthers
the attention draw to it.
Mis-en-scene: The Bedroom
The surroundings of the main girl in the poster are her bedroom, however when taking a closer look
you are able to tell that the bedroom which he lives in has been neglected and uncared for. Due to
the way we see ripped wallpaper and writing on the walls. This gives the audience and indication of
the state in which the main protagonist lives and the struggles in which she must face.
