What Is Social Media?
1. Social media is a collection of online communication
channels dedicated to community-based input,
interaction, sharing content and collaboration.
2. Social media is becoming an integral part of life
3. Social websites are increasing every year

1. Where is social media being used?
• Comment fields blogs, websites.
• To market products
• To promote brands
• To connect with customers

What Is Social Media Analytics?
1. Social Media analytics is the process of gathering data
from blogs and social media websites
2. This data is then analysed to take business decisions.
3. Examples of analytics: How many visitors, from which
geographical region, how long they stay on a page,
mining of customer sentiment to support in marketing

What Is Social Media Marketing?
1. Social Media Marketing helps a company increase rand
exposure and broaden customer reach.
2. Aim of social media marketing is to create content
which ill be shared by users in their social network.
3. Observe that most blog articles or newspaper articles
have a share button so that you can share the content
on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or WhatsApp.

1. Free social networking website
2. Users can create profiles, upload photos and videos
3. Users can send messages through the built-in Messenger
4. Users can thus keep in touch with family and friends
5. Live video can be included in posts
6. Take usual precautions when using Facebook

1. Free microblogging website
2. Describes itself as a “American online news and social
networking service”
3. Users can broadcast short posts (how short? Earlier 140
chars, now 280 characters)
4. These short posts are called tweets.
5. You can also post videos and live video
6. Users can follow other users’s tweets
7. Celebrities, political parties, educational institutions,
sportspersons, …… use Twitter to interact with others 10

3. Open content – anyone can modify the content after
creating an account here
4. This is usually the first place most users go to for get
detailed info
5. Use with caution as many articles may eb biased and also
