you more than your actual business

- If customers want to work with a company they will not
choose the company that presents themselves
unprofessionally.
- First impressions can be made online..
Personal: - Employers WILL look at your account
- Having harsh language/context could come off as a
red flag.
- Displaying yourself in an inappropriate manner can
come off as childish

- With all the different opinions out there it can be hard to know what is right
or what is wrong when it comes to your online database. Employers tend to
look at your social media first, and when they are viewing these profiles the
negatives will definitely outweigh the positives. When you’re thinking about
your profile and what is acceptable or what is not, a good question to ask
yourself is “would i be okay if my grandma saw this?” If your answer to that
question is yes, chances are your profile is going to be accepted. However, if
your answer was no you should definitely go and reevaluate certain things.
Remember just because your profile is private does not mean people who you
don’t want to see it will not see it.
TIPS: - Keep your profiles positive
- Never share information that could
destroy your character
- Just because a profile is “private”
does not mean employers can’t see it
- If you wouldn’t be okay with your
grandma seeing it, don’t post it!

Twitter is a social networking
application that provides the
opportunity to express your
ideas and learn about the
world through other people's
eyes.
Not only is it a social messaging tool, it’s about
discovering people that seem interesting and
staying up to date with their lives. Twitter is used
by celebrities for that exact reason. It’s fast
communication tool but at the same time it builds a

9. Personal vs. Professional Personal use: - tweets are sent to notify friends and
family about news that affects them
- It provides quick updates anywhere from
friends to news journalists (Gil, 2018)
Professional use: - businesses can network by
joining Twitter chats associated with their
companies interests
- There are jobs posts all over, all you have to do
is search for them.
- By posting your content that connects with
your audience you are building a personal
brand that people will enjoy and continue to
follow

Once employers narrow their potential
employees to a select few, they start to look for
flaws. So how do they do that? The employer
looks to social media to find your flaws or in a
good case your qualifications.

11. Professional vs. Personal
Professional use may be promoting a company
brand.
For social use, meeting friends or talking to
family
Your Personal Profile is meant to keep up with friends and family on a
daily basis. This is the place to share personal photos and status updates with
people who are close to you. You can also use your personal account to directly
message friends or comment on the activity they share on their personal page.
Facebook Business Page is all about your brand and the
services you offer as a professional in your field. You should invite past and
potential clients to like your Business Page and use it to collect reviews, share
essential details about your business.

14. ● YouTube allows users to upload, view, rate, share, add to
favorites, report, comment on videos, and subscribe to
other users.
● YouTube now has over 1.8 billion users every month, within
spitting distance of Facebook’s 1 billion
● Subscribers and users of YouTube have a professional identity as
a blogger and depending on what kind of videos they produce can
determine what category they go into on the site. (comedy,
gaming, sports, etc.)

● YouTube can capture attention and generate high
traffic volumes for bloggers who are trying to make a
name for themselves or their company
● It allows you to reach global audience and integrate
with your social media marketing
● Views play a huge role in growing your brand or your
company name as well, it allows you to grow your
subscriber base and make friends and network on
YouTube

16. Negative Effects of YouTube
● Youtube can give off a bad body image and promote many
negative things that our society does not need
● Copyrights and privacy rights can be breached within hours
● Can lead to creative discussions becoming negative to nature
● Many Youtube channels do not follow the Copyright rules, so
they can upload tv shows, music, etc… that can really harm
the creative industry.
● The comment section can be kind of negative and turn into
cyberbullying.

17. .Basic use of Snapchat- Communicate with family, friends or whomever
you’d like by your choice of a picture, video or snaptext!
Founded- September 2011 by Evan Spiegel (CEO)
HQ/Workforce- Located in San Francisco, California and as of September
2015 it only uses 330 employees.
Users: With research, we found out that 188 million people use Snapchat
at least once a day, while 300+ million people use it monthly. Last
updated on 9/17/18
Sweet Spot?: The daily user of Snapchat more than likely fall in the age
group of 18-24 thanks to research stating 78% of all “Snapchatters” fall in-
between those ages.

18. Benefits of Snapchat for Business
*No Stale Profiles- meaning its not plain or boring. With
Snapchat you choose what to post and what to promote.
*Better Reach- meaning if a person has interest within a
company, you can make that industry the first thing you see
every time logging in.
*The Inner Circle- meaning this social media allows you to
make groups to where to can release pictures/videos to only
your closest friends and family that you wouldn’t post on other
social medias.
*Snapcodes- Also known as QR codes, Snapchat has came out
with a tool to where you can scan codes around town or inside
work and it opens up that link within Snapchat!

19. Negative Effects of Snapchat
-”Snapchat is ranked as the second worst social media
platform for teen mental health.” -Smart Social Team
-Users 25 and younger visit Snapchat over 20 times per
day
-91% of 16-24 year olds use the internet for social
networking, meaning only 9% use it for other uses that
might not even benefit them either.
-Social media has been described as more addictive than
cigarettes and alcohol
