This document summarizes 3 cases of social innovation: 1) Chivor, Colombia - A project to develop sustainable and locally-based tourism in a former mining town through community workshops and locally-based businesses. 2) Gaviotas, Colombia - A village that reforested land and developed site-specific inventions to make the community financially sustainable through activities like planted forests and products. 3) Totnes pound, UK - A local currency created by Transition Networks to keep money circulating locally, encourage local production/consumption, and be owned by community members rather than external corporations.
