Desirable Changes:
Coalition Government
It is a new trend in politics, which is
giving a safe side to tenure of the
government. Previously there was a
single party ruling in the government,
and other parties were used to act
opponents. But, coalition government
has changed the pattern of the system
by including more than one party in the
government to rule.
8
Undesirable Changes:
Politics in Educational Institutions
Students and parents are reluctant to go for public
universities due to increasing rate of political
involvement in educational institutions. “It is a well-
known reality that unfortunately the role of the political
parties in educational institutions has been so much
terrifying that it has swept many hopeful and costly
lives.”
9
More Working Women
Give me the literate women, I will give you the literate
nations” said by Hitler. The rate of literate families
(specially girls) has been increasing due to their
employed and literate mother2; and it has also helped
families decreasing the economical tension.
Working Mothers
Today’s children are not able to get as much attention
as they were used to get in the past, due to the
change of mothers from house wives to working
women. This is one of the reasons that children are
less attached with their parents, and respect for
parents has relatively decreased in the minds of
young generation.
UNDESIRABLE CHANGES
Role of GrandparentsRole of Grandparents
In the past decades the grandparents were
thought as blessing to home, but now they have
become headache for today’s generation.Young
Pakistanis are thinks their grandparents‟
teachings as a waste of time, due to that they
don’t even want to sit with them and usually
use the words like “Pakao”,“Hitler” etc.
02/17/15
Freedom to Children
Impact of working mother, lessening attention of
father due to busy schedule and lessening of
limitations due to decreasing value of grandparents
and joint families has given the young generation
more freedom I their lives. This is the cause of
increasing rate of immoral activities, like dancing,
singing drinking etc in the young generation.
Desirable changes
Impact of Creativity
The requirements of the job within two decades have
changed from grades to creativity. the more you creative,
the more chance of getting the job. It means the more the
creativity; the more would be job opportunities. Impact
Creativity is an urgent call to action to save theatre
education programs in 19 of our largest cities
Increase in Rate of Labor
Supply of the labor in Pakistan is increasing day by day, which is
causing the rates of labor to fall. Which are becoming the incentives
for the new businesses to come into the market; through which the
job opportunities are being increased.Pakistan’s future also relies
partly on the overall scenario in the rest of South Asia where,
because of the global slowdown, creating jobs should be difficult in
2014.
Undesirable changes
Urbanization and Overpopulation
Trend of migration from rural areas to urban areas in
search of job has dramatically increased in Pakistan,
which has become the cause of overpopulation in urban
areas that leads towards the shortage of job opportunities
to the public.
Increasing Rate ofIncreasing Rate of HigherHigher
EducationEducation
In Pakistan, higher education has become the
dream of everyone. Similarly, the rate of it is also
increasing, especially in urban areas, which is
creating a lot of competition to get good jobs.
Eventually, this has become one of the reasons of
increasing unemployment.
Exchange, in which trade had only been done through
exchange tables and investors, had to go to stock
exchange, but now person even sitting in home can
trade via internet. Not only this, but now people can
Stock also buy and sell stocks via mobile phone, which
has increased the investors.
Undesirable change
Decrease in Investors
As the name of Islam is connected with the name
of Pakistan, so the not only investors becomes
reluctant due to terrorism with in the country, but
terrorism on the name of Islam in the world is
affecting the business world in Pakistan.
Undesirable Change
Misconception or Stereotyping of Religious
Scholars
Religious people used to be respected in previous decades, but
now people are afraid of them due to some dirty fishes and the
conspiracy of western world about them in 9/11 attacks. Most of
the parents are even afraid of sending their kids to madarsa,
because they think that their children will be brainwashed for
suicide attacks.
Desirable Changes
Due to increase in the enrollment for higher education, the age
of marriage has been shifted to 24 years whereas it was around 20
years in past. Therefore the today’s couples are more mature,
understanding and coping with each, other more as compared to
past, because they know the actual meaning of the marriage, and
they don’t rely on the income of their parents just after their
marriage.
Age of Marriage due to Education and
Urbanization
WattaSatta
Watta satta marriage can be defined as the
marriage system in which a girl and a boy is taken
from both sides. It has also been decreased when
compared with previous decades. And the
marriages have some equality has been
increasing in Pakistan.
Undesirable change
Love Marriage
In the contemporary culture of Pakistan, people are going for love
marriages rather than arrange marriages. Because of this factor,
these people prefer nuclear families. They defy the orders of their
parents and escape from their homes in order to marry their
lovers. There are many cases in rural areas in which the couples
have been killed, in the name of honor killings due to Love
marriage.
Desirable changes
Food Sciences
On the contrary, when women go for work, there is an absence
felt at home. Most of the times house wife is actually at work
and nobody else make food at home. However, to fulfill this
need, packed, frozen and ready to eat food stuff has been
introduced for such home. This would have be impossible with
new food sciences technology to preserve food
After many decades, women are finally given
their rights to be same as men are. They also
have a right to do jobs, run their own
business and develop their professional
career. So, instead of wasting about 50% of
your human resource, we are actually using
them to do something.
Employment of Women
Undesirable Changes
Unavailability of Home Cooked Food
Still prefer home cooked food for their daily meals, as home cooked
food is always more hygienic and nutritious. But, as mother has
now become working mothers, less attention is given to the healthy
food at home. Most of the times, when children come back from
their school and collages, mothers are at work and there is
unavailability of healthy home cooked food for children.
Junk Food
To fulfill the gap of food, children and now adults as well
have starting eating junk food. Best junk food that we
see in the market for killing the hunger is “TUC biscuit”
with a slogan of “halkipulkhibhookmeinhalkaphulkatuc”
Junk food is meant for killing the hunger but does not
provide healthy diet and nutrients. It is also discouraged
by doctors as it affects the growth.
Yes, technological advancement has changed our
lives completely, and not always in a good way.
Fortunately, there are many people focused on
securing our networked technology and police
officers as well as trained hacking and computer
programming experts work to provide safe and
secure technology to the masses
02/17/15
DESIRABLE CHANGE
Globalization
Technology is a driving factor in the process of
globalization. Improvements, in the early 1990s in
computer hardware, software, and telecommunications
have caused widespread improvements in access to
information and economic potential. These advances
have facilitated efficiency gains in all sectors of the
economy in Pakistan.
Undesirable change
Bad Effect on Teenagers
The two main forms of technology affecting teenagers are cell
phones and the internet, which has brought about major changes in
our lifestyle. This technology has allowed teens to have inane
communications and in doing so, contributes to the dumbing down
of society. Spend more time corresponding with their friends on cell
phones and the internet than we do working or participating in
activities which expand and challenge our minds.
Fashion
The change in the style, shape, appearance, or
mode of structure for the current time is known as
fashion. Since 14 august 1947 changing is taking
place in every field. Long Kameez and Shalwar were
replaced by tight kameez and large shalwar with
different designs of embroideries. But as the time
passes, the dressing of ladies tend to be change, as
we can now see that the old fashion of Long shirts
and Pajamas has again comes in the market.
The way individuals and groups interact with
each other has changed in 20 years a lot. The
way we interact and the way we meet with our
friends and family. Many things that were
considered as bad or not good are now
considered good.
DESIRABLE CHANGE
Friends Circles
On the other hand, people are more social now.
Introduction of social networking has made people s‟
life much easier. They not only socialize on the go but
they also share the videos and photos with their friends
and family on the go. In the same way, there is a
introduction of professional networks as well.
UNDESIRABLE CHANGES
Show Off
This means to show people your superiority, however our
Religion does not allow this and nor our tradition. This
has lead to many unpleasant outcomes. Now people buy
things that in real terms they cannot afford. People go for
loans and leasing facilities, which have now resulted in
bankruptcy of people. Just, because they want to look
superior, which they are not.
Terrorism
According to Wikipedia “Terrorism in Pakistan
has become a major and highly destructive
phenomenon in recent years. The annual death
toll from terrorist attacks has risen from 164 in
2003 to 3318 in 2009, with a total of 35,000
Pakistanis killed as of 2010
The causes of social change below affect or
characterize every aspect of society across the
world. On a macro scale, they shape all of our major
social institutions (economics, politics, religion,
family, education, science/technology, military, legal
system, and so on. On a micro scale, they shape
our values, attitudes, beliefs and behaviors. There
are many other social changes like change of way in
work desire, change in religious value etc.
