SNN newspaper editors thank supporters and wish readers a Happy New Year. The January edition discusses recent events at Searingtown including a bake sale that raised $720 and a drawing contest inviting student submissions. It also shares a student poem and includes a New Year's themed word search puzzle. Additionally, it describes a new educational program called Skyland that visited the school, allowing each class to learn about the world inside a giant globe, though one student felt the inside could have been more exciting.

2. Baked Goods!
Searingtown has made it passed 2016, and is rolling in 2017! Searingtown is still
going on with the traditional activities. The bake sale was on January 12, 2017,
and people got to buy baked goods! Mrs. Granfors, Mrs. Smythe, The Human
Relations Club, and Girls on the Run were in charge. They had cupcakes, cookies,
brownies, and other amazing things. Lots of people brought in the treats and with
the smell filling the hall, Searingtown has made over $720!!! Here is what a
fourth grader said,
"It was good, but when I got there, there were only Oreos and stuff.”

3. More poems!
SNN has been gathering poems, but not much have been in the box! We would really like more people to bring
in poems, but for now there has been a great poem we would like to share:

4. Drawings!
SNN has decided on a drawing contest! If you have a drawing, you can submit it in the
Poems to Perfection Box
You must have your name, grade, and teacher's name on your drawing. If you won, your

6. Searingtown also had something new, Sky-land! This giant globe was an
amazing experience for all. The host taught every grade about the world. Each
class got a different time to go during a week. It was a fun time for all, k-5, because
every class got to go inside the globe!!! Amazing, right?! Lets hear from a 4th
