IIT Madras spends over 15 crores rupees per year on electricity and student hostels consume around 40% of the total power. The sustainability network formed an energy conservation and efficiency initiative team to conduct an energy audit and reduce consumption. They found that the mechanical, civil, electrical and computer science departments and Jamuna, Saraswathi, Godavari, Alaknanda and Sharavathi hostels were the highest consumers. The team aims to work with these departments and hostels to identify reasons for high usage and implement conservation solutions through behavioral changes and technical projects to save energy and costs.

1) Laos has experienced rapid population and economic growth in recent decades. Its population is projected to increase to 9.33 million by 2030 with continued growth.
2) Currently, the residential sector accounts for the largest share of final energy consumption in Laos. However, energy demand from the industrial sector is expected to increase significantly by 2030 due to development in mining, processing and power.
3) Barriers to improving energy efficiency in Laos include the lack of energy efficiency policies and regulations, low public awareness of energy efficiency, and limited technical expertise regarding energy efficient technologies.

Improving Efficiency of Power Systems by Demand Side Management Method
In the smart grid infrastructure based power systems, it is necessary to consider the demand side management to enhance the energy reduction and system control. In many countries the resources are very less so the available
resources have to be used in an efficient manner without any loss. The total loss cannot be avoided but it can be reduced. In the proposed system, the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) technique is used to distribute the power in the smart grid. Here, the grids are arranged in such a way that the losses in it are reduced. The load connected to the grid is rearranged according to their use. It uses a new and stochastic scheduling technique to handle the uncertainties in the power system. Solar and wind power are taken in account for twenty four hours and the values are given to the PSO algorithm. The experiment was conducted by MATLAB and the results show that the efficiency level of wind and solar power systems was increased by an appreciable level. The proposed technique is compared with the normal system without using Demand Side Management (DSM) and it shows that the proposed system gives better results than the existing systems.

Understanding Trend and Variation of Electrical Energy usage Among Students i...
The National University of Malaysia UKM is one of the prestige public university in Malaysia. Therefore, the University's management is always proactive in planning the best student facilities every year. The growth in electricity consumption and demand, however, has increased. Hence, this study aims to look at the comparison trend of electricity consumption of several colleges at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and the daily consumption rate of electricity used. Generally, this study is based on a quantitative scientific exploration study where energy consumption information is measured based on actual records between August and October 2017. In addition, observation on energy consumption of the student is also conducted. The findings show that the range of utility cost ratio with the total of students is between 49.5 kWh student and 80.8 kWh student and the average energy consumption is around 65.2 kWh student. The findings reveal that there is an imbalanced in the trend of energy consumption among the college dwellers. Responses from the Khazanah and college management revealed the necessity to study in depth in particularly the operation and management factors that may have an impact on these significant differences. Generally, the findings of random observations in UKMs campus residential colleges have found that a small percentage of students do not concerned on energy savings. Electricity awareness and savings campaigns should be one of the students activities in the colleges. In addition, the Universitys managers also need to think of a comprehensive action plan that is in line with the needs of sustainable or green campus in the future. Chris Jones, Director of Product Management at BrainChip , presents the “Temporal Event Neural Networks: A More Efficient Alternative to the Transformer” tutorial at the May 2024 Embedded Vision Summit.
The expansion of AI services necessitates enhanced computational capabilities on edge devices. Temporal Event Neural Networks (TENNs), developed by BrainChip, represent a novel and highly efficient state-space network. TENNs demonstrate exceptional proficiency in handling multi-dimensional streaming data, facilitating advancements in object detection, action recognition, speech enhancement and language model/sequence generation. Through the utilization of polynomial-based continuous convolutions, TENNs streamline models, expedite training processes and significantly diminish memory requirements, achieving notable reductions of up to 50x in parameters and 5,000x in energy consumption compared to prevailing methodologies like transformers.
Integration with BrainChip’s Akida neuromorphic hardware IP further enhances TENNs’ capabilities, enabling the realization of highly capable, portable and passively cooled edge devices. In this talk we will show how to use Spark to process unstructured data to extract vector representations, and push the vectors to Milvus vector database for search serving.
zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.
