The market is expected to open on a negative note tracking weak
global markets. Stocks in Asia traded mostly lower today, with Japan's
stock market, the region's largest, closed for a public holiday. The U.S.
stock market ended a volatile week on a down note Friday, with
strategists blaming the slide, in part, on December's jobs report that
revealed a drop in wages. As per provisional figures, foreign
institutional investors (FIIs)/ Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) sold
shares worth a net Rs 297.99 crore on 9th January 2014. Domestic
institutional investors bought shares worth Rs 299.53 crore on that
day.

expecting wholesale inventories to edge up by 0.3 percent following the 0.4 percent increase originally reported for the previous month.
