Catchment-wide strategies
for water that seek to balance
everyone’s needs and those
of the environment.
More water transfers between
regions from areas of water
surplus to areas of deficit,
more desalination plants, and
most controversially of all,
more new reservoirs.
The Environment Agency set
a target that the numbers of
serious pollution incidents
caused by the water
companies should trend down
to zero by 2020. But over the
last five years performance
has plateaued in the 50 to 60
range. In 2018 the water
companies caused 56 serious
pollution incidents.
Non Revenue Water Loss
It is very expensive or even
impossible in a paper system
or fragmented communication
methods.

Monitoring the water parameters in the interconnected environments
& Smart cities
Blockchain is a database management platform designed as core
layer for applications that include transactions & interactions.
Use Case #1
What?
Remote water consumption metering / Remote
Water Quality Monitoring
How?
Sign and encrypt all collected data before it is sent
into the cloud and registered into the blockchain
database.
Why?
Used for for water quality monitoring at sensitive
events and sited: hazardous waste management
plants,
G7 meetings, Olympic games, waste treatment
plants, etc.

Use Case #2
What?
Project in Volga river, Russia
How?
Solar/battery powered drones, sensors, &
blockchain. Using mobile sensors attached on water
and flying drone’s surface. Drones will be able to
navigate through the reservoir to measure all water
quality parameters.
Why?
To measure water pollution in the Reservoir.
To integrate more transparency and trust in the
system.

monitoring
Use Case #3
What?
Waste Water vs
How?
Sign and encrypt all collected data before it is sent
into the cloud and registered into the blockchain
database.
Why?
To provide more transparency to the sector with
regards to spending, contracts, supply chain
management, and payments and pricing.

Possible water
transfers between
regions from areas
of water surplus to
areas of deficit –
means increased
necessity for secure
data communication
& exchange
Use Case #4
What & How?
The objective of the project is to develop a
secure registry of user’s actions, transactions
and their outputs in a blockchain data registry. It
will automate an audit trail for auditors and
regulators to verify compliance with the setoff
water/ environmental pollution goals.
It is an initial step towards complete automation
of the process flows of the online auction
platform.
- Automated validation of transactions
- Automated post-trade settlements
