2. THE COLOR WHEEL
The color wheel is a tool that artists use which shows rela-
tionships between colors.
It portrays different color “families” and how colors work
together.
Color wheels are also useful when deciding how to mix or
create a certain color.
3.
4. Three PRIMARY colors
RED, YELLOW, BLUE
Three SECONDARY colors
ORANGE, GREEN, PURPLE
Three TERTIARY colors??
Everything between the primary and secondary col-
ors! (yellow-orange, blue-purple, and so on...)
5. The SMARTboard lesson plan I found was designed to teach the very sim-
ple but important object of the Color Wheel. I know it seems silly, but as a
freshman in college I was lost when it came to mixing colors and figuring
out what colors contrasted or looked bad together. Adapting to this lesson
plan, I added pictures that were more appropriate the age group and made
some of the language more advanced. The images make it easier to explain
to the students who are visual learners.
