This document summarizes a prospective study that aims to implement and evaluate a care pathway to increase self-management in cancer patients taking oral anticancer drugs. The study will involve multiple hospitals in Flanders. It will use a 7-phase model to develop the care pathway through mixed methods like interviews, questionnaires, and focus groups. It will assess the impact of the care pathway on self-management, drug therapy quality, interdisciplinary communication, and healthcare professional skills/confidence. The study has received ethics approval and initial screening and project management phases are complete. Patient recruitment and baseline assessments will begin in September 2016.

My Birth Control: Engaging Patients and Providers in Shared Decision-Making A...YTH
MyBirthControl is an interactive tablet-based decision support tool created to promote a shared decision-making approach to birth control counseling that is rooted in patients' preferences. The tool, designed by the Program in Woman-Centered Contraception at UCSF in collaboration with Bedsider.org, is meant to be used by patients before a clinical visit, aimed to help people choose a birth control method that they are happy with. We have adapted MyBirthControl to meet the needs of patients in post-abortion and postpartum care settings, where additional information related to birth control in these specific clinical contexts is provided. Both versions emphasize that the tool is meant to help the user pick a birth control method ONLY if they want to. The goal of these adaptions is to promote patient-centered contraceptive counseling in these settings.

Lise-Marie Kinnaer
Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Veerle Foulon
2. Background
• Cancer therapy has evolved over the last decades from acute to
chronic treatment

o Poses important challenges for patients, caregivers and healthcare
professionals (HCP)
2
3. Background
• Challenges for patients:
o Complex therapeutic regimens
o Integration in existing therapy plan
o Adherence
o Management of side effects

Editor's Notes
Safety: fewer controls are built in for oral chemotherapy compared to intravenuous therapy; also drug interactions may be considered
During our study we will run through the first 6 phases, the 7th will be started up
Notice that in each step, various stakeholders are involved
