By 1830 slavery was primarily located in the South. African Americans were enslaved on small farms, large plantations, in cities and towns, inside homes, out in the fields, and in industry and transportation. Slaves were considered property, and they were property because they were black. African slaves could not forget the conditions of property no matter how good their masters who treat them. Slavery gave farmers a group of people who feel superior to them may have been poor, but not slaves, and were not black. Gained a sense of power just by being white. ANTEBELLUM SLAVERY
