How to unleash your creativity and generate million dollar ideasAamir Qutub
Creative ideas are all around us, all the time. Uncovering them is often a matter of how we’re looking at things and less of where we’re looking. And yet when we’re feeling uncreative or stuck it’s often helpful to get away from the work: to get up and go for a walk, or do a chore, or otherwise change scenery.

Applying for jobs is a fight for the hiring manager's attention. You have to do something to stand out.
These slides were put together for a session we put on at Zealify HQ called "How to Hustle Your Way Into A Job".
This is the 2019 edition of the "How to get a job" aka Career advice. This deck talks about the key things employers are interested in and things you as a student can do to make yourself more employable.
NOTE: These slides are meant as an accompaniment to the talk which provided more context and examples.
This is the presentation I gave to the assembled May 14 at North, hosted by 52ltd. It does not include the fabulous animations, which frankly were integral to the experience. But it gets the gist across.
Let's Ask if Teenagers Understand the Floppy Disk (and other icons)Lis Pardi
Hi. I'm Lis.
I defend the floppy disk icon against people who think it's no longer effective. They have their gut feelings that it doesn't work, I have research showing it does.
Despite data showing that college students understand the floppy disk icon, designers still insist that it doesn't make sense to people who've never seen one.
This presentation details the results of a larger survey with teenagers which shows the save icon still works, as do other common icons.

Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.
