This document provides the criteria and guidelines for a Christmas dance contest being held at SJTIT. It outlines the scoring breakdown which is 40% for performance, 30% for choreography and originality, 20% for theme and music, and 10% for costume and audience impact. It also lists rules for the contest such as the music, time limits, group size, and prohibitions on vulgar or suggestive choreography, lyrics, or props. The guidelines are intended to ensure the dance performances are Christmas-inspired, appropriate entertainment for all ages.
3. GUIDELINES FOR CHRISTMAS DANCE CONTEST
1. This competition is only for SJTIT students.
2. The costume must be Christmas inspired and in accordance with the concept of the group.
3. Each group is allowed to select any music/songs. They are allowed to make a remix of their chosen Christmas songs.
4. Each Group will be given an allotted time of a minimum 3 minutes and a maximum of 5 minutes. There will be a one point deduction in the total score for
every second exceeding the maximum allotted time of the performance.
5. It must consist of minimum of 10 and maximum of 30 members only.
6. No outsiders or professional dancer/s should be part of the group. Automatic disqualification in the contest if the group fails to follow.
7. Music should be wholesome and lively and must not contain any subliminal, sexually suggestive, and vulgar lyrics/ language.
8. Use of props will be allowed as long as it will not cause any delay in the program and any harm to the performance of other groups. Props such as oil,
confetti, pyrotechnic gadgets, smoke generators or combustible material, broken glass, live animals, sharp objects and the like are prohibited.
9. Choreography should not be vulgar and must not contain any subliminal or sexually suggestive act. Attire may include accessories such hats, caps, gloves,
scarves, jewelleries, etc. Removing pieces of clothing during the performance is allowed provided that it is not offensive or out of character.
