Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) is an effective and affordable treatment for managing dental caries, particularly in young children and those with limited access to dental care. It works by occluding dentinal tubules, enhancing the resistance of dentin against acid, and demonstrating antibacterial properties, making it suitable for various clinical applications. Although SDF has minimal adverse effects, including staining of teeth and skin, it is considered a powerful public health tool for preventing dental caries, especially in low-income populations.
