TASK 1: (OPTIONAL) WORK IN A GROUP
You will have the options to explore your
topic, conduct library and field research, and
write your report in a group of 2-3 students.
TASK 2: CONDUCT LIBRARY RESEARCH
Projects must include, at a minimum,
information gathered from at least two
published sources. Successful projects will
likely include more sources. Sources should
be appropriately paraphrased, quoted, and
cited.
Further requirements for library research will
be provided.
TASK 3: PROPOSE YOUR TOPIC
In a memo addressed to your instructor,
describe your topic (informed by your
research) and request approval to move
forward with the report process. Use correct
memo format, style, and tone.

TASK 4: CONDUCT FIELD RESEARCH Projects must include, at a minimum,
information gathered from at least one
interview per group member. Successful
projects will likely include multiple
interviews as well as information gathered
from other first-person data collection and
background research.

provided.
TASK 5: DESIGN YOUR FINAL REPORT
As you prepare your documents, work on
the following skills:
Producing a final report of about 500 words for
one-two writers or 750 words for three writers.
Formatting your final document so the
information is readable, usable, and attractive.
Using formatting choices to aid your audience in
reading the information, while avoiding
formatting that distract or confuse your
audience.
Using a style and tone appropriate to workplace
writing
Editing your writing to avoid errors
Submitting your revised proposal, your report,
your field research documentation, and your
group evaluation.
