1. ShazARt is an augmented reality mobile app that allows users to identify and learn more about art pieces by hovering their phone camera over the piece.
2. Early user testing found that displaying information in a separate screen rather than through augmented reality was a better experience, and that users wanted more readable text and links to additional information sources.
3. The developers learned that starting with one problem or solution and ending with another is common, and that user testing provides valuable insights beyond what developers initially envision.

A plug in and play photo app that helps us share our passion for the world’
Is an antidote to the way we live our lives today
Look Up More operates on two levels -
1) It is an existing website (www.lookupmore.co.uk/.info) - a community and photo sharing web site that celebrates the amazing architecture and wonderful views above and around us
2) It is also an advanced widget or app, that can power a ‘plug in and play’community - relevant for any brand or product; which seeks to encourage user interaction and generation of fresh content.
If you're new to prototyping or wireframing then this presentation is for you. Attendees will gain an understanding of prototyping and some of the different tools available.
We will cover 3 main topics:
1. Why do we make prototypes?
2. The prototyping process
3. Tools available for making prototypes
Students will gain an understading of how the different tools available can be combined to produce meaningful results to aid with iterative development. Starting at the lo-fi end with pen and paper (it's important!), the class will move on to lean, web based tools (popapp.in, moqups.com and appgyver.com).
The fundamentals covered in this presentation also prove useful for dealing with developers and agile teams.

Data Centers - Striving Within A Narrow Range - Research Report - MCG - May 2...pchutichetpong
M Capital Group (“MCG”) expects to see demand and the changing evolution of supply, facilitated through institutional investment rotation out of offices and into work from home (“WFH”), while the ever-expanding need for data storage as global internet usage expands, with experts predicting 5.3 billion users by 2023. These market factors will be underpinned by technological changes, such as progressing cloud services and edge sites, allowing the industry to see strong expected annual growth of 13% over the next 4 years.
Whilst competitive headwinds remain, represented through the recent second bankruptcy filing of Sungard, which blames “COVID-19 and other macroeconomic trends including delayed customer spending decisions, insourcing and reductions in IT spending, energy inflation and reduction in demand for certain services”, the industry has seen key adjustments, where MCG believes that engineering cost management and technological innovation will be paramount to success.
MCG reports that the more favorable market conditions expected over the next few years, helped by the winding down of pandemic restrictions and a hybrid working environment will be driving market momentum forward. The continuous injection of capital by alternative investment firms, as well as the growing infrastructural investment from cloud service providers and social media companies, whose revenues are expected to grow over 3.6x larger by value in 2026, will likely help propel center provision and innovation. These factors paint a promising picture for the industry players that offset rising input costs and adapt to new technologies.
According to M Capital Group: “Specifically, the long-term cost-saving opportunities available from the rise of remote managing will likely aid value growth for the industry. Through margin optimization and further availability of capital for reinvestment, strong players will maintain their competitive foothold, while weaker players exit the market to balance supply and demand.”

Levelwise PageRank with Loop-Based Dead End Handling Strategy : SHORT REPORT ...Subhajit Sahu
Abstract — Levelwise PageRank is an alternative method of PageRank computation which decomposes the input graph into a directed acyclic block-graph of strongly connected components, and processes them in topological order, one level at a time. This enables calculation for ranks in a distributed fashion without per-iteration communication, unlike the standard method where all vertices are processed in each iteration. It however comes with a precondition of the absence of dead ends in the input graph. Here, the native non-distributed performance of Levelwise PageRank was compared against Monolithic PageRank on a CPU as well as a GPU. To ensure a fair comparison, Monolithic PageRank was also performed on a graph where vertices were split by components. Results indicate that Levelwise PageRank is about as fast as Monolithic PageRank on the CPU, but quite a bit slower on the GPU. Slowdown on the GPU is likely caused by a large submission of small workloads, and expected to be non-issue when the computation is performed on massive graphs.

The problem: It’s too hard to learn about art.
2. Elevator Pitch
1. For people interested in art and learning more about pieces that they encounter
2. Who are dissatisfied with the inability to learn more about art pieces with often times
little to no information
3. Our product is an augmented reality mobile solution
4. That provides users valuable information on art pieces that they’re interested in
5. UnlikeGoogle reverse image search and other unreliable methods
6. Our product allows users to exactly identify various art pieces that the encounter and
learn information about them including description, artist, related works, and more
3. MVP2 Update
Scenario:
1. User sees an art piece they’re
interested in
2. User launches ShoppAR app
3. User hovers over art piece
4. Information about art piece is
displayed
5. User clicks pop-up if more
information is desired
6. User returns to camera portion of
app
4. Data Report – 5 users tested
Feature Importance Satisfaction
Different screen for more information 4.6 5.0
Bigger and bolder text 3.0 4.0
Brighter colors 3.0 4.0
Overall: 4.4 4.0
The screen to learn
more is great! Maybe a
link toWikipedia
would be a next step!
The information is
much easier to read
than last time. Looks a
lot better!
6. Hypothesis Revisited
Original Hypothesis:
“By using ShoppAR, I will be able to save time and money purchasing various products at
the store, making my shopping experience more efficient and enjoyable”
Revised Hypothesis:
“By using ShazARt, I will be able to save time learning about art pieces that I haven’t seen
before, making my art viewing experience more efficient and enjoyable”
Based on the data:
7. Lessons Learned
1. What you start off developing with may not even be close to what
you end up with
■ We started making a shopping augmented reality application
■ We thought about shopping for books
■ We ended up doing recognizing art (though leveraging the same technology!)
2. User testing will reveal things that you would have never thought of
on your own
■ We realized the whole augmented reality aspect was pointless for our app’s purpose
■ We learned that a new screen for detailed information was a huge improvement
