This document discusses how Internet of Things (IoT) technologies can improve the retail industry. It describes two demonstrations of IoT applications: 1) Using sensors and a microcontroller to monitor if blue jeans are being touched on a store shelf. 2) Using temperature sensors, a microcontroller and cloud computing to monitor storage room temperatures and detect anomalies. The document argues that retailers should now leverage IoT, cloud platforms, computer vision and other technologies to customize solutions that benefit their business models.
