This document provides information and instructions for administering benchmark tests to 5th and 6th grade students at Spring Hill Middle School in Bentonville. It outlines important dates for the testing, training requirements, test materials, accommodations, security procedures, and responsibilities of proctors, teachers and administrators.

3. Training All personnel who administer, monitor, proctor, or provide accommodations for the test must be trained

4. Test Materials Students will receive: A secure test booklet – with security number (please check the security numbers at check in and out) Have student’s write their name on the booklet. However, no other doodling please! A Student Answer Document – Students will write their name on the front of the Student Answer Document on Monday and Teachers will verify that the students name is on the document! Please return tests in sequential order. Separate them at final check in. Answer folders must not be folded, clipped, stapled, taped or torn

5. Student Materials NO scratch paper. Place holders are not allowed at any level. Highlighters are allowable on test booklets. Not in answer documents. Calculators only for specific sections. One for each student.

6. Documenting EMAIL Larry daily of student’s who missed tests and which tests they missed (make up rosters are made from this list), kids who were out of sorts, noises that went off in the middle of a test, etc.

7. Distributing Pass out the booklets to the correct student using the number assigned to them on the roster kept in your tub. (There is a reason to the crazy numbers on your sign out…spiral order!) Distributing tests incorrectly is considered a testing irregularity Note : Report immediately any missing or discrepant test booklet numbers to Larry

9. Labels and Coding, cont’d The following information must be coded AFTER testing is complete in the “ Teacher/Administrator Use Only Box” by Larry: ( please ask your students NOT to bubble things …) Ethnic Background Free and/or Reduced Lunch Migrant Student Highly Mobile Student ( enrolled after Oct. 1) Gifted and Talented Student Limited English Proficient (LEP) LEP student less than one year in U.S. Any ESI codes Main Accommodation used by the student to complete the assessment

10. Proctors Proctors are allowed to assist with student behavior in classrooms of students where needed. Proctors may : help with student behavior, stand near a student, prompt a student to work, touch a student to refocus them, sharpen a pencil or hand a child a newly sharpened pencil. Proctors may NOT : touch a test booklet, turn the pages in the booklet to help the student get on the right page, read any word to assist the student, look over the shoulder of the student to read the booklet, bubble anything, be left alone with the booklets for any reason, be left in the room alone with the students and booklets, etc. If in doubt, don’t do it.

11. Accommodations Test accommodations may be made for students for whom standardized conditions are not appropriate but for whom the testing experience would be beneficial. SPED 504 LEP The folks making small group accommodations will have another meeting with Larry to discuss details.

12. Accommodations/Small group administrators Come and check out your materials from Larry and Nicole in the mornings in the counseling offices. Homeroom Teachers will use their calculators and individual and small groups will be given to you as needed by the Counselors.

13. Test Security We will now review the Test Security Guidelines. You each have your own handout of this information. “ Maintaining test security is a serious responsibility for all certified personnel. Breaching test security is one of the actions for which teaching/administrative licenses can be revoked.”

14. Details Be sure student’s name is written on the test booklet and student answer document Bubble test FORM on day one in appropriate location (Box 7) DO NOT LOOK at students’ answers. Do not answer students’ questions about test items. (Tell students to select the best answer)

15. ADE Monitoring ADE will monitor districts during testing. Monitors go to districts unannounced and may walk into classrooms during testing.

16. Tests Materials Materials shall be checked out each morning in the counselors office. At the end of testing each day, testing materials will be returned to the counseling office.
