This document discusses how broadcasters can start shifting their operations to the cloud. It outlines typical broadcast workflows and how aspects like storage, processing, and delivery can be moved using AWS and partner solutions. The challenges of bridging physical requirements to the virtual cloud are addressed through services like AWS Storage Gateway and AWS Direct Connect. Key trends highlighted include the need to manage increasing storage demands, scale media processing, and deliver content globally to meet rising consumer expectations across multiple devices. Case studies demonstrate how media companies are leveraging AWS to save costs while improving reliability and the ability to innovate.

"An end-to-end, over-the-top (OTT) video system is built of many interdependent architectural tiers, ranging from content preparation, content delivery, and subscriber and entitlement management, to analytics and recommendations. This talk will provide a detailed exploration of how to architect a media platform that allows for growth, scalability, security, and business changes at each tier, based on real-world experiences delivering over 100 Gbps of concurrent video traffic with 24/7/365 linear TV requirements. Finally, learn how Verizon uses AWS, including Amazon Redshift and Amazon Elastic MapReduce, to power its recently launched mobile video application Go90.
Using a mixture of AWS services and native applications, we address the following scaling challenges:
Content ingest, preparation, and distribution
Operation of a 24x7x365 Linear OTT Playout Platform
Common pitfalls with transcode and content preperation
Multi-DRM and packaging to allow cross platform playback
Efficient delivery and multi-CDN methodology to allow for a perfect experience globally
Kinesis as a dual purpose system for both analytics and concurrency access management
Integration with Machine Learning for an adaptive recommendation system, with real time integration between content history and advertising data
User, entitlement, and content management
General best practices for ‘Cloud Architectures’ and their integration with Amazon Web Services; Infrastructure as Code, Disposable and immutable infrastructure, code deployment & release management, DevOps and Microservices Architectures
This session is great for architects, engineers, and CTOs within media and entertainment or others simply interested in decoupled architectures."
The conference was hosted exclusively for accomplished CIO's to facilitate an excellent platform to help gauge organization's readiness for transition to the cloud, identify and address any gaps or areas of concern and develop an actionable cloud strategy and roadmap for the future.

AWS Fundamentals @Back2School by CloudZoneIdan Tohami
This class is all about the basics. Here you will learn about the services AWS has to offer in compute, storage, databases and various application services.
Digital platforms are by nature resource intensive, expensive to build, and difficult to manage at scale. What if we can change this perception and help AWS customers architect a digital platform that is low cost and low maintenance? This session describes the underlying architecture behind a Digital Asset Management system powered by AWS abstracted services like AWS Lambda, Amazon CloudFront, and Amazon DynamoDB. We will deep into an approach to microservices architecture on serverless environments and demonstrate how anyone can architect AWS abstracted services to achieve high scalability, high availability, and high performance without huge efforts or expensive resources allocation.

Scaling to millions of users with Amazon CloudFront - April 2017 AWS Online T...Amazon Web Services
Learning Objectives:
• Learn how to use CloudFront dynamic delivery features • See a live demo and learn how to take advantage of Cloud Front newest features
Traditionally, content delivery networks (CDNs) were designed to accelerate static content. Amazon CloudFront supports delivery of an entire website, including dynamic, static, streaming and interactive content using a global network of edge locations. CloudFront integrates with other AWS services that are built to scale massively. Together, the solution can automatically scale to millions of users by leveraging the global reach of CloudFront and the auto scaling capability of AWS platform. In this talk, we introduce you to various design patterns and best practices to build a massively scalable solution using CloudFront. We discuss how this scale can be achieved without compromising on availability, security or cost.
AWS re:Invent 2016: Discovery Channel's Broadcast Workflows and Channel Origi...Amazon Web Services
Media delivery requirements are continually changing, driven by accelerating mobile, tablet, smart TV, and set-top technology advances. Broadcasters need agile solutions to the changing media and entertainment landscape that don't require multiyear projects with large upfront investments. In this session, we walk through Discovery Communications' migration of its broadcast playout and channel origination to AWS. Discovery Communications is a leader in nonfiction media, reaching more than 3 billion cumulative viewers in 220 countries and territories. Traditionally, broadcast origination for content delivered to telecommunications companies, cable TV, and satellite has existed only in on-premises data centers. In this session, we walk through Discovery's migration of broadcast playout supporting hundreds of channels worldwide to AWS. We show how Discovery has not only reduced their TCO but also has improved their agility by launching new channels on demand. We also walk through how channel origination is being deployed in a secure, automated fashion, and with a level of high availability that exceeds what is possible in a traditional data center.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

This webinar marks the beginning of our three-part “Essentials of Automation” series. This first webinar is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to utilize parameters effectively: enhancing the flexibility, maintainability, and user control of your FME projects.
Here’s what you’ll gain:
- Essentials of FME Parameters: Understand the pivotal role of parameters, including Reader/Writer, Transformer, User, and FME Flow categories. Discover how they are the key to unlocking automation and optimization within your workflows.
- Practical Applications in FME Form: Delve into key user parameter types including choice, connections, and file URLs. Allow users to control how a workflow runs, making your workflows more reusable. Learn to import values and deliver the best user experience for your workflows while enhancing accuracy.
- Optimization Strategies in FME Flow: Explore the creation and strategic deployment of parameters in FME Flow, including the use of deployment and geometry parameters, to maximize workflow efficiency.
- Pro Tips for Success: Gain insights on parameterizing connections and leveraging new features like Conditional Visibility for clarity and simplicity.
We’ll wrap up with a glimpse into future webinars, followed by a Q&A session to address your specific questions surrounding this topic.
Don’t miss this opportunity to elevate your FME expertise and drive your projects to new heights of efficiency.
