Summary of Literature Review 2 (250 words):
This review was focused on how to effectively create a way to
measure organization success when taking up various programs
or projects using scorecard & Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
across all paradigm the organization. Organization use score
cards to establish performance to organization strategy by
measuring quantifiable outcomes across the four areas
1. Financial performance
2. Customer knowledge
3. Internal business processes
4. Learning and growth
Some research used for creating this document indicates some
of the benefits for using score card are as below
9. · Helps organization to focus on key list of priority items to
meet high performance goals.
· Usually the KPI’s and score card will help to integrate all
departments within an organization as they create accountability
to each of them,
· Breaking down strategic measures to local unit levels so that
unit managers, operators, and employees can see what is
required at their level and how that will contribute to an
excellent performance overall. In practice this requires aligning
an organization strategy with the work that people do on a day-
to-day basis.
· Allowing relevant performance measurement that provides the
required impacts.
· Enables more open information flow across the organization.
· Provides simple steps to create the balance score cards
In addition, this review provided some insights into common
problems that occur when trying to create score cards which if
not addressed can provide inaccurate outcomes.
Gaps in Literature/ Future Research Ideas:
Key things that is missing is some strong case studies with
examples of score card along with when and where to use them.
Other ideas would be to give sample KPI’s categorized by the
types of initiatives to provide clearer understanding on how to
create them effectively
Application to your GRAD 695 research:
This part of the paper will help in addressing how to create the
right performance objectives across the organization for any
major initiatives to track progress and as required make course
correction and mitigate the risk of delays and missed outcomes.
