This document discusses integrated farming systems (IFS). IFS involves integrating crop production with livestock management, fisheries, and other agricultural activities. This allows farms to reuse resources and reduce costs. The main components of IFS are crops, livestock/poultry, fisheries, and secondary agriculture activities like beekeeping. IFS is needed in India as the average landholding has decreased significantly and most farms are small and fragmented. IFS allows for vertical expansion of farming when horizontal expansion is not possible. The advantages of IFS include increased productivity, profitability, and sustainability for small landholding farmers.
