The eCar Ireland Project aims to promote electric vehicle adoption in Ireland by building out public charging infrastructure nationwide. Ireland is well positioned for electric vehicles due to its mild climate and abundant wind energy resources. The project aims to install 1,000 public chargers covering all major towns by 2020, along with 40-100 fast chargers every 60km on interurban routes. It is also providing the first 2,000 home and workplace chargers free to encourage electric vehicle purchases. This infrastructure investment and incentives are meant to attract more car buyers and original equipment manufacturers to Ireland.
