This document discusses cardiac regeneration and the role of interleukin-4 (IL-4) and interleukin-13 (IL-13). Specifically, it notes that IL-13 promotes neonatal cardiac regeneration but the specific signaling pathway and cell types involved are unknown. The objective is to identify this pathway and cell types. Methods that will be used include immunohistochemistry, PCR, flow cytometry, and western blotting to detect protein markers and analyze DNA/RNA. Results will show western blots analyzing the effects of STAT3 siRNA treatment, IL-13 and IL-4 treatments, and STAT3 inhibitor concentration on protein expression. The discussion will analyze previous studies on the role of IL-4 receptor signaling and YAP in cardiac muscle cell proliferation

We recently reported that the anti-inflammatory cytokine,
interleukin 13 (IL13), promotes neonatal cardiac
regeneration; however, the signaling pathway and cell
types mediating this regenerative response remain
unknown.

10. Conclusions:
• Cardiac regeneration is a way in which medicine will have a big
development. Severe heart failure and possible death could be
reversed thanks to different genetic studies and modifications.
• Molecular biology opens an immense door when it comes to
identifying and studying cells and organisms behavior. This
represents a benefit, since by knowing how things work in
detail, we can potentially improve or cure many diseases of the
human organism.
