studied in yeast, where it does not only
regulate promoter activity but also plays a
role in nucleosome assembly

higher in Sirt6mKO muscle compared to
WT muscle confirming that SIRT6 represses
Utrn gene expression. Even more
interestingly, RT-qPCR revealed a
substantial increase of Utrn expression in
Sirt6mKO/mdx muscles compared to mdx
muscles.
(14) Schofield, Et al. Expression of the Utrn gene is already
upregulated in mdx mice and DMD patients
as part of the repair process14, but the level
of expression is moderate, not allowing to
fully com- pensate for the absence of
dystrophin.
